Great Coffee with a cool coffee bar. But where they lose points is the food was pretty bland. I had the mince for breaky and it just had no flavor. Go here for coffee not food.

It’s small local café, they have one of the best coffee’s in Brisbane in my opinion. They use different kind of beans for each coffee and each coffee comes with a special note about its bean. They have their own local breakfast menu which I haven’t seen anywhere else, good variety also. Sometimes it’s very busy specially Saturday mornings.

Being the closest café to the TC Bierns Park in Hendra, I visited Dandelion and Driftwood for a coffee today with a few other mother friends. My other friends wanted to sit down and catch up(as we don’t see each other often) but we soon discovered(or were told) there was no room for a pram. I didn’t even make it in the door before being told there was no room for a pram inside, Fair enough, I didn’t realise how small the venue was before being stopped at the door but it was the way the guy approached it. He came as across as REALLY rude, snobby and uninviting. He’s put me off going there again, which is a shame because I grew up in the area. Obviously they don’t want kids in their venue but then I don’t get why they even bother to sell lollies at the counter! The only plus from this experience for me was their coffee and their lovely takeaway coffee cups.

This little café has by far the best coffee I have had in Brisbane! It is a cute little café in Suburbia with a variety of coffee, tea and food options. I opted for my standard coffee a skinny flat white with an extra shot, which was delicious and smooth! And my «Grannies famous Savoury Mince» was delicious and filling, and had my housemate filled with jealousy! She opted for the Scrambled Gooie eggs with Ham, and she stated it was delicious! The staff are incredibly friendly, and the owner was lovely and welcoming and all dressed impeccably! I highly recommend this delicious little café!

Recently had the best coffee I’ve ever tasted here. However it is more pricey than elsewhere.

This place(and Unilocal’s ‘Nearby’ tool!) saved the day on the weekend. We were visiting Brisbane & had a not so great sleep at a budget hotel the night before. We went in search of breakfast, praying that we wouldn’t have to resort to Maccas. I opened up Unilocal & up popped Dandelion & Driftwood, only 500 metres away! We were first greeted by a mobile coffee machine & barista setup out the front. Several eager people were waiting for their orders. What a brilliant idea! Instead of having to enter the café(which is pretty tiny inside), people can simply order their coffee & have it made outside. Upon entering, we were immediately seated and we had a chance to look at our surroundings. This café is deliciously cute with a vintage feel about it. Bowls with sugar cubes adorned the tables along with small vases with flowers. Hanging driftwood forms part of the wall decorations, paying homeage to the café’s name. The front counter includes a selection of delicious looking sweet things, as well as chutneys, oils, etc to takeaway. In the middle of the table in the centre of the café are paper bags filled with mixed lollies — how cute! While we were there, there were several kids in the café so I imagine the lollies are popular! Everything on the menu sounded amazing — from savoury options through to sweet breakfasts. My husband & I shared a bacon & egg bagel and a ham & cheese toastie. The food came out quickly and was incredibly yummy for items that often risk being ‘boring’. Staff were welcoming & friendly and wore cute outfits with hipster shirts & bow ties. Outside there is a small ‘tea garden’ with wrought iron tables & umbrellas. Even the toilet was decorated with flowers & lovely towels. I wish we could’ve sat there all day!

Fantastic place. Friendly customer service and the coffee is phenomenal. I had a piggy sandwich on the menu and it was delicious. I would definitely recommend this place to business travelers looking for a decent coffee. The only downside is they don’t accept American express.

Went here expecting a beautiful breakfast experience but left disappointed and underwhelmed. Service was good but the food was bland and they don’t cook their eggs to order!?! Tea, supposedly their speciality, lacked flavour and the coffee was ok, not very strong. I’m sure this is a favourite for many but for me it was overly pretentious and the poor quality food let it down.

The ambiance and service were lovely as were the coffee and milkshake, however the breakfast meals weren’t very good. The serving sizes were small and nothing special — not to mention my order was confused for another and that it was $ 4 for a side of rocket(which was literally leaves and no dressing whatsoever). If you’re headed here for drinks you’ll be at home however the meals were very ordinary and extremely expensive.

After hearing so much about Dandelion and Driftwood, some friends and I decided to finally cave in to popular culture and check it out. It’s a super cute place with a lot of vintage and Indy décor. We went for breakfast and we all seemed to love what we ordered. I ordered the bacon, egg, rocket and cheese bagel which was so tasty as well as a chai latte which was a-m-a-z-i-n-g: one of the best I’ve ever had. My friends ordered coffee and really liked the coffee too. The service was pretty good however, at the end we got a rude and abrupt lady at the cash register which slightly spoiled our visit. I’d definitely go back there again, but I’d just dodge the red head… don’t want her serving us again… but I definitely think the décor and layout of the whole place is the highlight and would draw me back over and over again. I’m a sucker for cute, vintage, indy places. PS. It can get very busy, so just be aware of that. There isn’t a lot of seating so depending on when you go, it could be a bit of a wait… not too sure though…

Not too bad. Arrived close to midday during the week and the place was packed out. Service wasn’t exactly quick, but the coffee made up for it. The fruit bagel is lovely, if a little light on the condiments. I’d go again, but wouldn’t travel out of my way to get there. The coffee is the winner, but the food isn’t particularly special.

I had heard such great things about this place, unfortunately while the decode was impressive the service and coffee was not. After waiting 20 minutes for my coffee to be served on a not very busy hour, the guy in the three piece suit was arrogant and rude. Definitely in no rush to go back.

Let’s not beat around the bush — D&D arguably has the best coffee in Brisbane. However, the coffee isn’t the only standout. The staff are knowledgeable, the fit-out is charming and the service is consistently good. I wouldn’t necessarily recommend it as a destination for a meal but rather the perfect place for a coffee(or 3) and a treat. My personal highlight is the tasting notes that accompany the coffee. It really is a testament to the passion and commitment owners Penny & Peter Wolff have to coffee and which they have also instilled in each and every one of their staff.

Good food. Great coffee. Very friendly service. Nice environment. A variety of blends coming with little tasting card /fact sheet about the blend. Can be really busy at times which means you will wait for a table for half an hour; if you have time don’t hesitate waiting.

After a three-hour stint at Westfield, with my soul in tatters, I needed to find good coffee nearby and I needed it quickly. «Don’t go there for the food,» a friend said, but I dared defy her and I was therefore pretty impressed with the result of a toasted sandwich. Maybe it’s just because I love a good toasted sandwich, but I was pretty happy with it, even if it did cost me $ 9.50(maybe that’s where the«don’t eat there» comment came from?). Even at 3pm on a Saturday(an hour off closing time) it was bustling, though our timing was great — just as we walked in, a table of two vacated. Perfect! I was curious enough to try out both the Dandelion AND Driftwood blends, and defiantly chose Driftwood(the«male» house blend) as my preferred roast. Our goods came out quickly and everything was served with a smile. I loved the twee décor and could easily see myself chilling in D&D for a lazy afternoon. I can’t believe it took me so long to finally visit! Here’s hoping I can get back there again soon.

There are a few things you must know about Dandelion and Driftwood immediately. As well as being set in the most darling cottage filled with vintage and feminine touches, they are home to some of Australia’s best baristas. In fact, two of their baristas are the 3rd and 5th best baristas in Australia. Their coffee is consistently some of the best I have had in Brisbane and the notes that come with your cup of liquid gold make the experience more enchanting. Rhiannon S was right: a visit to Dandelion and Drfitwood is like«wine tasting for coffee lovers!» On this visit, we visit on Mother’s Day and we expect that we’ll be standing in line to be seated for a little while(Thank goodness Dandelion have a coffee bar out front where you can order your take-aways). Surprisingly when we arrive we find a table immediately and promptly are greeted with a welcome smile from owner, Penny. Again this is a café that hones their craft and that is the hero. There is a decent food menu and the hot pressed sandwhiches are the best bet. If you have a incurable sweet tooth then you’ll quickly make friends with the delectable assortment of cakes, cupcakes and more available at Dandelion and Driftwood. This is a café for those looking for a charming place to catch up with friends or family but it is also a spot for serious coffee lovers looking to further refine their tastebuds.

I went for breaky there today with two girls who both liked it. The coffee was amazing but I was surprised there wasnt a standard breaky there? They had toasted sandwiches, cupcakes and homemade pies, which were all nice but I suppose I’m to used to my bacon and eggs. The staff were great and the tiny outside garden was comfortable. I’ll definitely go back for coffee and maybe a sweet but will think twice for breaky.

I love the pressed sandwiches — especially how they are served in wicker baskets with a serve of crisps! This is the way sandwiches should be eaten. The Reuben is my favourite — Corned silverside, sauerkraut, Swiss cheese and thousand island dressing makes for a delicious sandwich. You can order coffee from the espresso bar or the brew bar. Espresso bar is your regular flat whites cappuccino and latte. The brew bar is an experience to be had! There are a few different brewing styles — Aeropress, Chemex, Syphon and Cold Drip. Watch as Peter pulls out equipment that looks like it belongs in a Science lab and makes you a brewed coffee. Most of the brewed coffees should be enjoyed black and it is amazing how the different methods can produce really strikingly different drinks. The first time my husband and I tried the brew bar, I went for the Chemex and he went for the Aeropress. We had the same beans, yet we ended up with two completely different coffees. Mine was almost transparent like a dark tea, and his was more cloudy. They both had very different mouth feels. This is like wine tasting for coffee lovers! Your coffee is served with a little place card detailing the origin of the beans, and the notes of the coffee. Be warned, this place can be very busy, especially on weekends! But it is definitely worth the wait.

Dandelion and Driftwood is a quaint little treasure of a place in the leafy suburb of Hendra. Run by husband and wife team Peter and Penny Wolff, its vintage chic styling(by Penny) and dedication to the science of coffee(championed by Peter) make it a destination coffee house and has earned it wide renown amongst Brisbane coffee aficionados. I absolutely love Penny’s interior design work on D&D — simple upholstered chairs coupled with a big central wooden table and smaller metal garden furniture, a big dandelion lamp from IKEA which I love, news articles and certificates in different size frames on the wall, and menus on mini clipboards with gingham ribbon. They even have a matching D&D VW Beetle convertible which sits out front most days. It’s certainly one of the most exceptionally branded independent coffee houses in the city. Peter and Penny’s coffee philosophy is based on a battle of the sexes — dandelion blend for the girls and driftwood blend for the boys. If you get Peter on a day when it’s not too busy(very rare), he will wax lyrical about how men and women respond to different blends of coffee and certainly when my man friend and I have ventured there together, sampling each other’s coffee always leads us to the conclusion that we prefer our own. So they must be onto something… Impressive scientific equipment lines the bar and adds to the feel of legitimacy — these are people who are obviously passionate about what they do and bring their own creative flair to the task. They have a real family approach to the place — their daughter Xanthe has her own lolly cart — and often have themed days(my most recent favourite was the Smurf day complete with blue cupcakes and the entire staff dressed up to the nines in sapphire blue!) which adds to the community feel. It almost has an olde world, country charm which is rare for a café in the inner city suburbs. I have to say I preferred their winter menu with sweet potato soups and delicious toasties, but the summer menu has some good options too. I really wish they would get proper boiled bagels for their smoked salmon and cream cheese bagel — somehow the baked versions just don’t do it justice. But the coffee — ah the coffee. It’s always good. And it should be — their baristas win competition after competition. They have a tea garden out the back which is open on sunny days and have just opened a coffee cart out the front for those just wanting to grab a takeaway and dash. It can get really crowded so prams can sometimes be a problem unless you snag a seat outside, but it’s worth persevering. Dandelion and Driftwood is a coffee experience and a must-do for caffeine fans all over.
