First off, I am usually disappointed by Indian Restaurants in Sydney. Mainly by the fact that they are no where near the level of quality of food you get in India — and when a friend recommends an Indian Restaurant to me in Sydney, I never have any high expectations of the place. Chutneys is no different on that aspect — same old story, chewy naans, butter chicken is way to sweet, and portions look to be abundant in quantity — but don’t be fooled, its disguised by the fact that they fill in the currys with vegetables, gravy/sauce. But on top of the food being of very average in taste and quality, the service is shocking! The owner on multiple occasions has displayed rude behaviour to customers — once to my 5 year old yelling at him about her precious table menus(really not that great!), and another time to my wife when we complained about the food being bland — instead of taking it as constructive criticism, she took it personally and claims that the butter chicken is the BEST on Wigram st, and that her restaurant is the ONLY ONEs to make their paste from real cashews(wonder what the others are making their paste from… don’t want to know!!) In Australia eating out is a privilege for many Australians, and it is a disappointment to spend your hard earned money on substandard food as well as substandard service. So my advice to you all reading this, is walk past every restaurant on Wigram St, and go to station st(just running parallel), there you will find a place called Chatkazz — now this place is not fancy, nor is the décor anything special, but the food is very good as well as the service, and you are getting your moneys worth.

Amazing Indian food. A must have is the mixed pakora entrée and the butter chicken(the best butter chicken I’ve ever had). Great attentive service and great prices.

I came all the way from Los Angeles to taste the food here. Staffs are very friendly and the food is awesome. It is in the heart of India town in Harris Park. It was very authentic northern Indian cuisine.

The over all ambiance was great. Great lighting, the food was great and the service was friendly. The only thing I would recommend watching out for is the definition of heat.(Mild was very hot). Defiantly a promoter

Food was nice enough but the service was really bad. We ordered cocktails when we first arrived(there was only one other table of 4 in the restaurant at time time) it took over 10 mins to get the drinks and they were half full for $ 12. We had the $ 30 banquet and it was very nice with plenty of food and great value for money.
