I really liked Flourish. Mainly because I was able to buy a movie poster of a 1960s Italian film for $ 8… score! There’s lots of interesting bits and pieces here, and if you’re into quirky style home wares(or random things to fill your house with) then it’s worth checking out. There’s some really interesting jewellery and stationary as well.

Really. Friggen. Cute. From the Taschen books to the edible-smelling candles, there’s lots to love in Flourish. There’s an upmarket Oxfam vibe to the store which is popular with home wares at the moment, and you’ll find everything from Parisian trinkets to Moroccan lanterns and textiles. But what really gets me is the stationery. As usual. Flourish is one of the few places to stock what could be my favourite stationery brand evs, O-Check. The Korean brand is super cute but not childish or twee, and I spotted a letter-writing set last time I was here which made me literally squeal with excitement. Honorable mentions also go to the«How to Grow a Moustache» guide and the Laduree macaron recipe book on the library shelves. It’s all pretty wallet-friendly as well.

Flourish is a gift shop that has a personality all of its own and that personality has matured over the years. Once home to loads of pretty trinkets it has grown up these days and now carries a more mature line of products. The shop now has a decidedly international flavour about it these days as recent products seem to have been sourced from around the world. Quirky would have to be the number one adjective to describe Flourish. I saw an old typewriter in working order the other day — funny but a lot of kids wouldn’t even know what a typewriter is and I couldn’t help but wonder how many kids ask mummy what that is? More than anything else, the one constant at Flourish is their great selection of books. Travel books, funny books, quirky books — if you’re looking for a book as a gift I suggest you have a browse because I predict a 90% probability of you finding what you’re looking for. While Flourish have always stocked a great selection of costume jewellery, most recently they’ve branched into fashion and have a huge array of smock types tops and blouses for women. I also saw a few pairs of sandals in there as well. If you need beads to finish off your outfit, go there first. I like Flourish on King William Road. I particularly like the pressed tin wall at the back of the store. I think its a modern addition but nevertheless it looks great.

This is one of my favourite places to shop for gifts and basically for myself! With a bohemian mix of Fair Trade products, mirror stitched Indian ottomans and cushions, unique wrapping papers, wide range of jewellery by Elk and Polli, travel journals featuring the capital cities of the world; there is something for everyone. My favourite would have to be the vintage printed hankies, priced under $ 12 and the red donkey memo holder. Book lovers would love the wide variety of interior, art, travel and cookbooks here. If you’re planning a trip to France soon, you may wanna check out the range of books here dedicated to the culture and travel of France. Flourish also stock skincare range from Mor and others that are deliciously good on the skin. Too bad you can’t eat them! At every visit I make, the shop is bustling with activity and foot traffic. I’m not surprised as you can really shop for your whole family here! A must visit if you haven’t already.
