The Gidge bakery is your classic small town — big taste bakery. The staff is friendly, the food is fresh and the interior is quaint and clean. The quiches and pies are divine and whether they are individual or family size they pack big flavour. For mornings teas at work we’ve tried the carrot cake, tea cake, hedgehog slice and mud cake and all of them were just as they should be. The $ 5 tea cake(for the whole cake, not just a slice), is my new favourite. It was everything a tea cake should be and I wish I bought an extra cake to myself to take home so I could be eating it now… Although to be honest I don’t think it would have made it through the night without being polished off. The drive out to Gidge takes about 45 minutes from the CBD but this place is worth it and the countryside is beautiful. You also catch amazing glimpses of the entire Perth skyline on the way down.

I remember a time when a drive up Toodyay road meant not much until Toodyay. And then still not … Gidgegannup bakery and café has changed that just a bit. Large, clean looking, heaps of kids behind the counter. And cakes and pies as far as he eye can see. Judging by our(shared) flourless chocolate cake, they are fresh and delicious. From the staple vanilla slices/apple pies to quite intricate looking cream and chocolate thingies this place might just be worth the drive .A find.
