I am thoroughly disappointed in myself for not being aware of Bellissimo Coffee sooner! Not only is it Australia’s Most Awarded Coffee but it is a comfortable, chilled out place to have a meeting, chat with friends or just sit and ponder the meaning of the universe. I had a skim, double shot Latte and it was beyond perfect– I fear I will never be able to drink coffee from another place again! They also had this amazing almond pastry thing that was ridiculously tasty! Definitely recommend coming here for all your caffeinating needs!

I’d always heard Bellissimo was good but I’d just never had a chance to try it. We rocked up mid-Sunday afternoon after a hard days couch shopping over at Homemaker City and we pleased to find the café/roastery buzzing but not too busy. We spent some time perusing their sizeable coffee bean selection from Australian to Single Origin Kenyan, Indian and Indonesian. Happy to report that yes you do get a free coffee with bean purchase :-) Of course we zeroed in in the all important snacking menu and were pleasantly rewarded to find many tasty options often sequestered to bfast menus on w/ends. Partner went for the avo on toast w/lemon and I dived on a cheese & tomato toasty(simple but sooooo good!). Coffee is strong and well made. Prices were average & portions were decent. Staff were friendly and service was fairly prompt. Great afternoon reviver spot!

Bellissimo Coffee is the standard by which I measure coffee. It’s that good. Their beans are the yardstick to which every other coffee bean that goes into my grinder is compared. Some beans have gotten close, but none have ever quite measured up. As a coffee shop they’re just OK. They’re pretty small, though the upstairs has now been converted to a bungalow with seats and the like. The focus here is the roasting, and the layout of the coffee shop pretty much lets you know that. You’d have to be blind to miss the giant roaster right by the door or the huge bins of roasted beans. That’s not to say they’re not a good coffee shop, but if you’re looking for the coffee shop atmosphere of just hanging out there are better coffee shops, but they’re coffee isn’t as good. Seating is a bit thin and on the lower floor is just a couple of benches and some standing room at the bar. Their menu is basic, but everything on it is absolutely amazing. It’s also the only, and I do mean only, place that I’ve seen PECANPIE in Australia. I told my classmates that it is a thing, I actually tried to make it for them with only some small degree of success, but there it is on their shelf. It is also delicious.

I traveled to Australia from the U.S. to visit some friends. A friend of mine introduced me to Mark and his coffee establishment. I was blown away by the interior, the helpful staff, and most importantly the coffee. Unlike most bitter U.S. coffee, Mark has mastered the art. Try the Mocha Java Blend. A must visit!

Best coffee in Brisbane. Smooth and creamy. Not bitter at all. Food great too. Staff very friendly. You can sit upstairs if it’s full outside.

In my estimation, the creamiest, smoothest cappuccino in Brisbane. Great selection of beans, the baristas have a great understanding of their craft, and are happy to help educate you on the best blend to suit your taste. The upstairs area has some basic(think milk crate) seating, and the small range of food isn’t too bad. Parking is hellish, so plan ahead. If you’re after the best cup of coffee in Brisbane, this is your place, handily beats the competition down the street.

Bellissimo Coffee. A stones throw from James Street proper and a café I’ll now openly admit I’d ignored for far too long. Why? That remains a mystery given the pitch-perfect flat white I enjoyed here on Sunday morning. The milky brew didn’t loose it’s hit of coffee with a distinct hint of caramel, smooth chocolate and all round deliciousness. With plenty of locals popping in for their morning coffee, I now understand why this understated coffee house draws the followers. There’s plenty of coffee gadgetry in-store(including a peculiar and intriguing 2-spout stove-top espresso maker) and seating upstairs.

4:30pm Wednesday: My husband and I are racing towards Campos in the Valley hoping to buy our usual supply of roasted coffee before they shut. 4:31pm: I trip on the uneven strip of pavement and smack the kerbside with a stinging kiss. My husband hesitates but I wave him on willing to take one for the team if only we can grab our weekly dose of coffee. We are coffee fiends. Without our weekly supply, all work will cease and our relationship will break down. 4:32pm: It is too late. My husband returns empty handed. He suspects Campos shut early over the Christmas period. As coffee withdrawal set in, we suddenly see a small crowd gathered outside a warehouse, in the otherwise deserted street. Shakily, we stumble towards this apparition, this warehouse which smells of coffee, this shop waving numerous coloured ribbons declaring it ‘Gold Medal Winner Hobart Fine Food Shot, Sydeney Fine Food Show, Most Awarded Coffee in Australia 2010, Top 20 cafes in Brisbane Courier mail’ etc etc. This is how we first found Bellissimo Coffee. We end up buying two new types of roasted beans — Indonesian Single Origin and Ethiopia Single Origin. Each 250g bag costs around $ 10. The helpful barista gives us a complimentary cup of coffee each — perhaps she saw us banging our fists outside Campos and was trying to woo us away from the competition. We’re also given loyalty cards — after 5 bags of coffee, get one bag free. This is a pretty good deal considering most coffee shops just give you a free coffee. Although we didn’t eat anything in their café, I would definitely try their cakes or sandwiches in the future. They don’t have a huge range but the mini canolies, melting moments and lemon cakes are cheap and looks tasty. They also do two raisin toasts for $ 3.00 Their warehouse setting with the exposed brick wall and roller door has a rough polish which gives the shop a unique character. There are some tables set up outside and upstairs but it feels like they have dispensed with the niceties in order to focus on their coffees. This is evident by their range of coffee paraphernalia on display — there are coffee machines, grinders and stove top coffee makers for sale. There’s a large roaster in one corner. I’ll have to taste my two bags of coffees before I give a final verdict but I suspect Bellissimo may have usurped Campos as my favourite coffee supplier.

Bellissimo coffee is a hidden gem, unless a local tells you it is there you will more then likely miss it. Set off the busy James street in the middle of Wandoo st, fortitude valley is a sign that reads«Australias most awarded coffee 2010». This place is constantly busy which is always a good sign. Coffees around $ 3.50 medium, $ 4.50 large for a Latte, and does take a little bit of time for them to make. You can take a seat on the wooden benches but after the wait it is worth it. Regular haunt visited by all coffeeholics. They do have a good rewards card, every 5th coffee is free so be sure to start collecting your stamps. It was recommended to me, and now I will recommend it to you.
