It’s easy to rate a place when it comes with a rating. Sovereign Inn is definitely three star so does what it says on the packet I guess. It’s nothing spesh but it is clean, has what you’re looking for in a motel(tea, coffee, microwave, soap and shamditioner out of a dispenser, mattresses with visible springs, snoring room mate sold separately) and for a last minute find its cheap(for Wollongong) about $ 110 a night. The rooms haven’t had much updating since the 70s so you get an amazing glimpse into the depressing life of a traveling salesman. The couple running the place are very nice and the breakfast is $ 10 which is pretty reasonable. This is one of those places where they don’t make your room up everyday but who likes being forced to clean their underwear off the floor everyday anyway? The location, Figtree, is kind of just a suburb outside of Wollongong. It’s nice enough and there is the world’s smallest Westfield down the road. Pro tip: if you ring ahead and pretend to be «someone from your company» you get corporate rates which will save you $ 8 per night. Score!
