Always Polite and always Friendly Staff/owners make the difference in this East Perth Corner café, if you can score the lounges in the corner it makes for a great«Office out of the office» — have conducted many meetings and interviews there when I worked around the corner. Loyalty cards are now de rigueur so don’t be shy… pick up one and by the 2nd or 3rd visit they’ll know your standard preference … buy 10 and you’ll get one on the house… and a fresh new card to start all over again… PS Parking in East Perth is a high revenue earning exercise — be aware that the Dayglo Yellow Gestapo from the C.o.P have an office just up the road and they like to pounce on any unsuspecting parker just nipping in for a quick coffee… mainly because they don’t have to walk too far and when they have their quota they can go back and put their feet up…

Yes I’m a fan of this joint and they must know by now! I just tried the sausage roll without expecting much of it but it turned out great! I’ve always known that they make good coffee. Great friendly service and today I discovered another great! The flaky and crispy pastry was so good. Mmm. This joint is always quiet so it’s great if you want to get away from the hustle and bustle or have a chat with a friend and not want to be worried about noise. Eftpos available but minimum of $ 10. One of my favourite places for coffee! PS: Orange poppy seed muffins weren’t so crash hot. At least the muffins look fresh, unlike those at 88.

Inexplicably, Sip Espresso Lounge is nowhere near as busy as 88 Royal up the street. Can we assume that the denizens of East Perth prefer their coffee poorly made, or is there something about the corner store that is more inviting than this one’s austere interior? Whatever the case, they’re missing out, because the coffee up at Sip is far superior to that at its competitor. The only really off-putting thing about the place is how empty it is. You can practically hear the tumbleweeds. The food is a little less attractive. A row of glistening hot dogs in pastry – pigs in a blanket, the internet calls them, though one is less inclined to jump to the conclusion that hot dogs are pork-based rather than, well, who-the-hell-knows-based – sit waiting to give you a heart attack. Better to take the coffee and run, as I did, ruing the fact that I had earlier bought coffee at 88 Royal and not at all enjoyed it.
