I purchased a fridge and a benchtop dishwasher in late January 2016. This was through the online store. They sent them through 2 different delivery companies which meant the deliveries happened on 2 separate days. I ordered on a Friday night and paid for the $ 50 delivery. The fridge was delivered on Wednesday and the dishwasher on Thursday. I expected much quicker delivery especially given that I am based 2 km from their online store, but there was no communication from them. I paid for installation of the dishwasher but the«installers» told me that my tap did not fit the supplied hose and I had to get a plumber to do it. I called 2nds world and asked for a refund. The man who I spoke to assured me that a plumber would be sent. A week later I hadn’t heard back from them so called again. I got a different person who told me that the previous person didn’t have a clue and that the installation was to existing taps only. I asked for a refund on the $ 90 installation fee and this time it was given. Shoddy shoddy service. As it turned out I went to masters and someone there explained how to connect the dishwasher to my tap, and I did not need a special connector. The fridge was a seconds due to a dent on one edge. There was another problem with the fridge that I noticed after a week, the support for one of the drawers on the freezer was broken. I rang 2nds world, who told me I had to call the manufacturer. I then rang the manufacturer who explained that because the fridge was a second, the repair had to go through 2nds world directly and not them. I rang 2nds world again and as before, the person I spoke to told me that the previous person didn’t know anything. Finally they gave me the contact details for another company, The Sales Club, who is responsible for fixing the fridge and I’m still trying to get it sorted with them. 2nds world were incompetent, lacked knowledge and training about their own products and business processes, and sell faulty products. This has been my first and last time buying from them. Never again.

This small chain has a few outlets, but this one is the most central in Sydney. It’s a small outlet that’s jam-packed on two levels of appliances and electronics at a discount. Some have small cosmetic scratches; most are just overstock or discontinued items that are otherwise brand new. The savings can be substantial, and are usually around 20% by my estimation. I’ve bought all sorts of things here: a washing machine, a clothes dryer, a dishwasher, a blender. All have been great, just cheaper than I would have paid anywhere. Their Sydney delivery prices are pretty good, just $ 45.

This is a sort of rescue centre for unloved white goods. Whilst some of them have more serious issues i.e. blemishes to the actual machine; most of them have superficial damage to the carton. So once they’re in your home there’s no telling they once had such garish, cheap beginnings. What I like most about this store is that they have always negotiated the advertised price with me. I’ve bought a washing machine, a fridge, a blender and a fan from here and always felt like I’ve had a fair deal. There’s something honest about knowing that there’s a problem up front — it sets people off on a good footing. I also like the personable staff. They’ll even help a woman who has measured the space in her kitchen where the fridge should go with a piece of wool. «Well Madame, was the wool pulled tightly or loosely?». «That Sir, is a very good question…» True story.

This place has always struck me as completely out of place. On Military Road in one of Sydney’s most expensive areas, in the company of expensive furniture shops, fancy restaurants and cafes, it’s a lurid yellow warehouse offering cut-price electrical goods. A mystery. Brave the yellow threshold, however, and it starts to make some sense. The showroom space extends way back from the road, and every conceivable space is filled with a washing machine or a hair crimper, a television or a sink. Two approaches to shopping here: pick your model and be prepared to drop in and out every week or so till one of them happens to come in, or head in with some broad parameters and see what fits. Either way, you’re going to get a good price — though the goods might be ex-display or in damaged packaging, lightly dented or simply superseded. Don’t expect lots of pampering though. There are plenty of staff, but they’re there to sell and do so pretty hard. You can get things delivered but there’s no bells and whistles, and woe betide anyone not in when the delivery man arrives — a $ 45 fee for redelivery.

«Tiny ding, HUGE savings». So we’ve all seen the ads and marveled at the prices. But when it comes to shopping for appliances who really remembers to shop there? Well, the other day I ventured inside the store bare handed and came out laden with goods! The products are shockingly good… and ultimately made a lasting impression. I emerged with cash to spare! I will never shop at any other appliance store, now that 2nds world has made a loyal customer out of me! Products may have a small ding or be a factory second. The carton can be damaged, it might be a new run out or can even be factory refurbished. Some appliances might even just be an ex display model. Whatever the«catch» is, it’s certainly a small price to pay! All products come with a warranty– a peace of mind in this day and age! 2nds world also has hot deals, clearance bins and run regular promotions such as $ 100 cash back when you purchase one of their goods. The service is very friendly and the staff only too happy to help. I called up beforehand to check if they had all the items I needed in stock. At 2nds world you can save hundreds of dollars, which all adds up in end. Treat yourself to a shopping spree with the savings– they’re that cheap! I have been recommending 2nds world to all my friends and family. It’s the perfect place to stock up, especially if you’re fresh out of university and moving out!
