Mount Lofty Summit

The Mount Lofty Summit is seriously amazing.
You get an entire view of Adelaide which is just wicked.
There’s even a café on the top where you can get yourself a nice feed! They also have look outs and they have a souvenir shop! Apparently in winter it also snows up there so if you want to see snow then go there if it’s forecasted to snow. I know I will be :)
There’s also seating areas and I just believe it’s a heaps peaceful place. I want to transform myself into a earthworm and live up on the summit :) ¹⁰⁄₁₀ view

One of the best experiences, specially all those lattes, cakes, burgers, time to loose some kilos ! Unilocalers head to mount lofty spend few hours climbing the mount and have fun. It’s pretty steep. Better not eat to drink coffee before heading there. Weekends car park is an issue so head as early as possible. There are rest rooms, beautiful scenery and a coffee place up there. Good coffee loved eggs Benedict worth climbing/​walking. All the best.

I haven’t taken the plunge to walk up Mount Lofty yet. I just don’t think I’m fit enough yet! I have friends who go up there regularly because they just love it. The only time I have ever been up there I was driven up, by a friend, on a clear night…
I can’t express how beautiful Adelaide is at night time, with all the glorious nights. I can’t imagine it would be as impressive on a cloudy day, so be sure to go when it’s nice and clear. We were lucky enough to go at that time. It was just breathtaking.
The restaurant there looks really fancy as well, and I’d like to eat there one time.

One of those places that I was positive that I’d reviewed earlier, just because it’s such an icon, but no, apparently I haven’t gotten around to it until now.
This place is pretty damn awesome. The views are spectacular, there’s a half decent café, and a restaurant that I’m a little bit scared of looking at the prices inscribed upon the menu, and have thus far largely avoided.
The views really are worth the trip. I’ve done the walk from Waterfall Gully in the past, but I’m just not fit enough for it now to do it in a respectable time, so now I just park the car up the top and walk the last little bit from the car park to the lighthouse.
The last time I went, I did have a bit of trouble with the parking — not because it was overly busy, but because I was there at a time that you weren’t required to purchase a parking ticket. Only catch was, this wasn’t signposted anywhere near the machine or near my car — took me a good five minutes to work that out. But there’s a good chance I’m just really slow.

Stunning views, the best in SA I’d go as far to say.
I could sit up here for hours taking in the amazing view. If your up for a walk, then there are heaps of trails where you can take in the scenery from various points.
It’s great to get away and get back to nature, and you wont find a better place to do that than here.
There is also a restaurant/​coffee shop where you can take in the views, whilst enjoying a drink and a meal.

When you have international or interstate guests, bring them here. Revel at the highest point in Adelaide and take in the breathtaking views. Best of all, it’s free!
With an amazing view of Adelaide plains and the hills, this is by far the most relaxing and peaceful spot to unwind from the city chaos and din.
Kids love climbing on the wall where the majestic lighthouse towers and pretend to be Captain of the sea, peering over the binoculars looking for pirates at sea.
This is a perfect pit stop before you make your way further into the hills and explore the nearby Warrawong Hills Sanctuary or German inspired town Hahndorf.
While you’re here, don’t forget to visit the gift store situated inside the Mount Lofty Summit café.

If I had to pick one single word to describe Mount Loft Summit it would be peaceful. I have not found a more calm and serene spot in Adelaide yet. Located in the Hills (a 15 – 20 min drive from the city), it is the highest point of the Mount Lofty Ranges and gives you truly spectacular views of Adelaide. On a clear day you can see as far as the beach side and even spot the jetty in Glenelg.
Apart from the beautiful lighthouse, the icon of Mount Lofty, there is a small restaurant that offers breakfast, lunch and afternoon tea. You can also just enjoy a coffee or a glass of wine on their terrace and let the stunning views take your breath away.
If you want to continue your journey through the Hills or elsewhere, pop into their Visitor Information Center right next to the restaurant.
I think everyone who visits Adelaide should have a stop here, even if it’s just a quick one. It is free and definitely one of the best ‘postcard’ memories I have of this city.

When I was young I used to come to Mount Lofty Summit to watch the Adelaide Sky Show.
The view is spectacular and watching the sun go down from this point should be on everyone’s to-​do list, especially if you don’t live in the Adelaide Hills; views like this just don’t exist in the city.
While there is ample parking, if you’re coming from town and you’re feeling ambitious you can park your car at Waterfall Gully and hike the 3.8kms to your summit destination.
There is a gift shop if you’re feeling a bit touristy and the restaurant is is really nice if you’re feeling peckish, in fact it’s really good to dine here in the evening so that you can get first class seats to watch the sunset. It’s not a cheap evening out though if you do decide to eat, mains are nearing $ 40 a head so be prepared to splurge a little! failing that, I like to sit on the steps of the lighthouse and just chill, with such beautiful scenery it’s really easy to space out and just forget the world for a while.
