Little expensive, food was alright. Average experience, the environment outside is nice. Fish batter was a little sticky and not the best fish and chips ever had, but not the worst either. Still good if your hungry at the beach though.

Let’s set the scene here. Beach views of the beautiful Cottesloe Beach, hot 33 degree day and people out and about to check out the amazing Sculptures of the Sea. To say this fish & chip joint was busy is an understatement! Considering the number of people walking through the doors we were able to find ourselves a table, order and receive our food in about 20minutes. They seemed to have a good ordering and pick up routine going which was definitely helpful given the crowds. All your standard fish and chip selections — due to how busy they were they were only cooking fish one way which was battered and fried(would’ve preferred grilled or crumbed but oh well!) Prices are high as you could expect given their location but their family and combo packs are definitely the way to go if you want to save a few bucks. We shared the tropical basket for 2($ 27.90) which included a medium serve of chips, 2 butterfish, calamari and 2 pineapple fritters. They also threw in some freebie sauces. The calamari was great as were the chips. The fish was fresh but very small serving sizes — essentially half a standard flake fish was counted as one fish. Wasn’t a huge fan of the pineapple fritters. A pretty good fish & chip experience down at Cottesloe if you ask me!

Pretty tasty fish and chips. Quite large servings, so we always share one -$ 14.50 for two pieces of fish and enough fries for two people. My gripe with this place is that they close the kitchen 15mins before the signed times, even on busy nights. We ordered at 8:10 and were one of the last orders. People were continually turned away with many people complaining they had seen the sign before hand and had decided to go for a walk and order later. They rip you with sauce, but every place does. Summary: good food and ok prices Mgmt needs to pull their head in.

After enjoying an afternoon swim on a hot day, fish and chips were in order. We chose Amberjacks based purely on proximity to where we were sitting. It was the first fish and chip place we came across. I ordered a serving of grilled Spanish Mackerel, calamari, minimum chips and two pineapple fritters to share with the husband. The wait was fairly lengthy after ordering, but it was busy and at least that means it’s cooked fresh. Having not heard my number be called, I eventually got up and asked, seeing it and some friends’ packages sitting, waiting under the warmers. I’d ordered it with salt and vinegar as we were taking it away, but neither was particularly evident. I couldn’t taste the vinegar at all, and there was definitely not enough salt. The grilled fish was overcooked, dry and tough. Pretty disappointing for the $ 14.90 I’d paid for it. The calamari rings were well done, chewy but not too chewy. The batter on those and the pineapple rings was nice and crispy. The chips were fine, but needed salt. It’d also pay to poke holes in the paper so the walk back to the beach doesn’t result in the steam making your chips soggy. Overall it wasn’t a bad meal, but far from the best fish and chips I’ve had. And more expensive than I think it should be, guess that goes with being the closest spot to the beach.

Okay… The fish and chips served at Amberjacks is slightly more expensive than you probably expect at your local fish and chips. … But not much more… and the view you get whilst enjoying your meal is amazing… In terms of the beautiful beach and sunset as well as the quality of eye candy walking around!!! The food is fresh and very well presented and the servings are huge.. we bought a large chips and four o’s up couldn’t finish!!! Overall would strongly recommend as the meal and experience on a summer day in Perth is brilliant!!!

Ate at Amberjacks after a visit to Cottesloe Beach last week. A really small restaurant with limited seating for the teenybopper beach crowd. Prices are as high as other Perth eateries: about $ 14 for fish & chips. Fish is said to be New Zealand Hake. I think they need to look at their cost per serving – only 2 pieces of fish per packet with way too many fries. Wasteful amount of paper wrapping – the fish and fries aren’t that greasy. Enough fries to feed 2 people. Forget about condiments – restaurant charges extra for tartar or ketchup. Salt and vinegar are free though. Bottom line is that the food is delicious. Less fries per order as a trade for free condiments is something they really should consider.

Best fish and chips that we had in Perth. Great location for a walk on the beach.

Positioned conveniently across from both Cottesloe beach and the Cott hotel Amberjacks is the best fish and chips option in the area. You will often see long lines out the door so ring up and order in advance then when you get there you can walk past the crowd to the pick up counter like a boss. Serving sizes are big, more than enough for one, and there are a wide variety of options available. The pink snapper is beautiful, and the calamari is great to share. Seating is available but lets be honest if you’re not taking it down to the beach and watching the sunset you are missing half the fun.

Amberjacks is a casual fish and chips joint that’s just a hop across the street from the beautiful Cottesloe Beach. I went for the traditional fish and chips and couldn’t wait to try a bite from an obviously popular establishment. When my meal came out, it was wrapped in a giant paper container. When I opened it up, there were heaps of chips, and sadly just two pieces of fish(even sadder because I was splitting my meal with a friend). Also, I was bummed because the fish and chips didn’t come with tarter sauce or ketchup, unless we paid extra. And the sauce containers were ridiculously small in size. Maybe I’m just biased because I love a large portion of ketchup with my chips, and with the enormous amount of fries you receive I would have needed handfuls of those ketchup containers. All in all, I wasn’t a big fan of the fish or the chips. They just tasted a little too greasy for me and not enough flavor. After a long day at the beach, usually everything tastes delicious, but I would save myself the calories and try somewhere else next time.

This is as fancy as take-away fish and chips gets withe the most beautiful view. It’s not often that you get the option of yellow-fin whiting or New Zealand Hake when you order your standard Fish and Chips. Even the salads include a chilli squid salad and an octopus salad. Please don’t get scared off from the price of the large chips, they are clearly not meant for one person.

After a hard day’s relaxing at Cottesloe Beach, Amberjacks is perfectly ‘plaiced’(ho ho) to provide you with that staple of seaside sustenance, fish and chips. They are a decidedly upmarket fish and chips establishment, with several different types of fish on the menu, some of it local, and a choice of either fried or grilled. They also have other seafood including scallops, mussels, squid and prawns. I went for the calamari and chips. The portions are pretty huge — even the small chips was too much for me to eat, and I like eating. The menu said that a serving of calamari was twelve pieces, but they just seemed to go on forever — it felt like way more than twelve(it probably was twelve though). The calamari was a tad rubbery, and tasted a tiny bit like used chip fat, but who cares? It was the perfect accompaniment to a day of beach fun.
