The«$ 50 for two persons» plates are beautiful. So if you are four people, you can order two $ 50 packages, one is seafood package, the other is meat package. And then you can enjoy much more food than if you only order one dish or two. Service there is good and efficient.

The tastes of Greece finally have come to stay in Coorparoo. As soon as you walk in, the staff always greet you with a smile. As you sit down and read the menu, the Greek theme of the restaurant comes alive. The food comes in 3 categories, ranging from Barely Enough to Stomach-Filling. These are some of the starters and deserts, and main platters respectively. The middle of the two — the single dishes — are the mainstay of the restaurant. Every single item looks delicious, and it is tempting to order half of the menu. The overall result of this is everyone at the table almost bursting. Ordering all at once is a good idea, as the point of the dishes is to share around. The key is to get enough starters to fill the time for the mains to be served. This is a decent wait, 10 – 20 minutes depending on what was ordered. Essential Starters include the trio dips, and octopus. All 3 main platters are great, and cannot be faulted. Deserts are authentic and rich in flavour. Baklava Ice Cream and Honey Puffs are the highlights there. Now a word of warning. The staff are known to bring along little extras with your order, such as drinks, or salads. They will get added to the bill if you don’t return them or say no. It’s a good way to try out the variety of the menu, but is not helpful for those without deep pockets. Greek on Cav is a great restaurant, with hardly any faults. Set aside a little money, and enjoy the authentic experience.

We stopped in on a Friday night for an impromptu date night at Greek on Cav and had quite a pleasant experience. It was super busy but we somehow managed to get a park and what seemed to be the last available table without booking. You might not be as lucky — I definitely recommend booking ahead based on the crowd we saw! We started with the trio of dips and chose the tzatziki, scordalia(potato, garlic and almond) and melitzana(eggplant and garlic). It was served up super fast and each dip was full of flavour! Unfortunately the mains took quite a lot longer to get to us however our waiter was friendly and apologised for the hold up. They had a range of share platters on the menu that looked enticing but we chose to mix and match a few sides(the haloumi and the kalamarakia or crispy lemon pepper squid) and the chicken souvlaki. All were worth the wait… the squid especially! Apparently the chargrilled octopus is even better… said a gentleman doing the rounds that we presumed to be the owner. We then sampled a whole three-fifths of the dessert menu, sharing the loukoumades(greek honey puffs) and the baklava and ouzo ice cream. Our choices were delicious and a great way to finish the meal… I might have to go back just to sample the homemade rice pudding with almond brittle!
