After waiting for meals here three times too many we learnt our lesson and started avoiding this place. Their Mediterranean salad is passable on occasion with good flavours but it just takes so long for this to be served. I do not recommend this in any way, shape or form and would suggest avoidance.

3rd visit to Global Burgers. Previously it has had solid food and service. Not so much now… they have done away with table service and the menu has changed. Along with these changes the service has also gone down hill I.e. having to request water for the table twice when we could see the staff just having a chat at the bar– bear in mind, we were 1 of 2 seated in an otherwise empty restaurant– so simple service shouldn’t of been a problem. 1 of the meals was a Moroccan vegie burger which was supposed to have a chickpea Pattie without a chickpea in sight! More of a potato fritter with corn and peas. Unfortunately we won’t be visiting this Global Burgers any time soon unless we get word they have improved there service and food.

Global Burgers certainly does have a wide variety of burgers as the name might suggest. You’ve got the standard beef, lamp, chicken and veg options there but generally the flavours aren’t quite what you would expect. Each burger is meant to represent a different ‘style’ belonging to a part of the world. I feel the veggie options are a little lacklustre, especially compared to other burger chains around Brisbane at the moment. However there are sweet potato fries which are definitely amazing. Fridays have 50 cent chicken wings, so make sure to take advantage of that! The service here can be touch and go, while the staff are always friendly it’s not necessarily the quickest establishment.

When I heard this burger joint was called GLOBAL Burgers, my brain went to things like«tandoori chicken burger» and«satay chicken burger», because I like chicken burgers and I LOVE satay chicken. What this meant was that when I rocked up and found no mention of peanut satay, my heart sank. However, the menu did manage to hold my attention when, true to GLOBAL expectation, all the burgers were named after(and suitably cliché-themed for) locations. Rushed for time, I ordered a Mackay Fish Burger(Global also have stores in Mackay and Rockhampton, so I guess they’ve come from CQ? And where is the Rocky Beef Burger?) — tempura barra with lettuce, tomato, and a lightly spiced mayo. Simple and tasty. The over-floured wholemeal bun it came on left me covered in flour, but I was impressed by the fancy takeaway box. I’d consider some of the things on the menu to be a bit expensive, but in general it’s on par with other burger joints. Had I had a bit more time up my sleeve, I would have dined in and sat in the outdoor section, and maybe ordered a Bangkok Chicken Burger(thai-marinated with pickled condiments), a Wellington Lamb Burger(ingredients include a potato fritter!), a Vancouver Beef Burger(inc smokey bacon and onion maple jam), or a New Orleans Chicken Burger(cajun-spiced, inc BBQ corn salsa and cajun-spiced sour cream). There are decent sides and chips menus(onion rings, sweet potato chips, shoestring OR steak cut chips) and a couple of vegetarian options(Moroccan Chickpea Burger or Mediterranean Sandwich). Global Burgers is in a fairly new and shiny Woolworths complex(does anyone else define a complex by whether it has a Coles or a Woolies in it?) on the corner of Harries Rd and Holdsworth St, a block back from Old Cleveland Road. There’s some street parking, or parking in the complex carpark. The shop was empty apart from staff when I went in, but I was pretty early for a dinner shift(5:45pm). Speaking of the staff, they were fun and friendly — though one of them was a bit confused and may have thought he was auditioning for the Voice, as for the 10−15mins I was there, he continued to belt out Hinder’s «Lips of an Angel», which is possibly one of my least favourite songs of all time. Perhaps next time he could ask me if I have any requests.
