If you are looking for a venue for a Xmas lunch then I highly recommend The Vine in Collingwood! The pic with this review is our table setting for our regular quarterly lunch! Ron owner and chef has the best steaks in Australia! His pasta and seafood are also amazing, a great local feel old pub. Due to building redevelopment Ron is moving in January but get in for Xmas you won’t be disappointed!

One of the few pubs left in Melbourne with a dart board — the Vine is great at lunch time or after work for drinks or to grab a pub meal. It’s cheaper if you sit in the front bar but either way the food is fresh and delicious. If you’re thinking about going to the dining room for lunch on a Thursday or Friday i’d suggest making a booking as it gets pretty busy. Great place.

Ron O’Bryan is a phenomonal chef. Seriously guys, don’t be put off by the dark, classic exterior — this is Collingwood’s best kept pub secret. Being my after work local, they cater for all types for drinks and dinner. There are fancy, cheaper counter meals and a solid dining fare. You can’t really go past the steak menu. I mean, I have ventured out to Ron’s incredible chicken pie, but the steak is of such serious quality that I keep going back to it — the Wagu just melted in my mouth. I have considered ordering just a bucket of The Vine’s mashed potato to take home some evenings. There is not one side or anything that I have eaten here that has not had incredible flavour. Ron is always interested in your food opinions too — if you’re not entirely happy, he’ll try again. The wine cellar contains treasures of all kinds, and Ron’s knowledge of them is vast. The usual beers on tap, and the drinks menu has some beautiful scotches and gins, with cheap cocktails to boot. If you have a favourite and you ask nicely, often there may be unadvertised tipples hidden somewhere. I love this place, and I can’t understand with such quality how it’s remained quiet so long. I’d highly recommend venturing away from Fiztroyalty like The Napier and giving The Vine a go.

Found this place using Unilocal,all the other pubs nearby were fully booked out. The staff were friendly and the food presented well, however I wasn’t overly impressed with the taste of the food itself. I had roasted lamb shoulder, and found the lamb to be rather tough and tasteless which was a bit of a disappointment. Service was a little slow, and the prices were on the rather high side of «pub prices»

Old school look new school love With Chef Ron O’Bryan how could you go wrong. The Vine is an old school pub doing the classics like parmas, steaks, brains etc with the ‘real’ pub feeling(without the smoke haha) They do do ‘themed’ dinners so you should keep your eye out for them; the Derby & Well dinners are more your fine dining style with a BIG personality. If you love your pub grab then you can’t go past these guys mm YUM!
