My favourite place in the world to holiday is Stradbroke Island, and when you’re on an island you want lots of delicious fruit and salads. Well, I do anyway. The problem is that fruit and veg is kinda expensive and not awesome quality on Straddie. Which is why I always stop at Cleveland Discount Fruit Barn before I catch the ferry. I buy a great mix of ready to eat now and just about to ripen fruit and veg for very cheap prices and know that I’m set for at least my first week on the island.

Buckets of peaches and plums for $ 2.99! A bundle of leek for $ 2.99! Almost everything for $ 2.99! I particularly like this place because it’s enormous, immaculately presented, and full of cheap produce. It takes up the space of two stores, as the front displays spill out into the walkway and people essentially have no other choice but to walk through their bountiful stalls. I quite like to preserve foods– make jams, chutneys, keep assorted food stuffs in vinegar. With the prices so cheap, there’s no excuse not to do it. You can fill a trolley in no time and still get change from a $ 50(I’m not even joking). The staff are very friendly and will help you to find the ripest of ripe fruits. The stock looks very healthy and there are always people restocking and making things pretty for customers. This is where I’d get my fruit and veggies in Cleveland.
