Have to say one of the great dumpling restaurants in Melbourne. Has a nice ambience and the service is always excellent. Ordered some steamed and fried dumplings along with a shredded pork soup. Have to say all of it was flavoursome and excellent. Love this place but yet no flavours were absolutely standout but a solid place to get some cheap and excellent dumplings. A regular here!

Not fancy but hey Eastern Dumpling House always leaves me happy and full. The dumplings are juicy, skin is not too thick, price is reasonable for amount and quality of food. Occasionally there will be a line and you may have a slight language barrier but other than that, here are my all time favorites: Pan fried pork bun — HOT(temperature wise)(6 pcs $ 8.5) Home made vegetarian dumpling(15 pcs $ 8.5) Pan fried beef dumpling(15 pcs $ 8.5) Pan fried pork dumpling(15 pcs $ 8.5) Tofu Salad — comes with century eggs and the tofu is very silky($ 7.80) Tofu with mixed vegetables — fried tofu(yum), bit of fungus(sounds really bad in English) and veges($ 12.80) Chicken and Chinese mushroom in claypot — does not come with rice($ 14.80)

We were after dumplings and Aunty dumpling had a queue out the door. I love dumplings but I don’t do queue. So we tried here.(After being told we’d have to wait 10 mins for the new grill place nxt door. But anyway) Maybe our impatience was a mistake ? The table was clean but the floor was a dirty mess. Not a good start. We had table number one. We ordered the spring rolls which arrived first and strongly tasted like Indian not Chinese. Anyway also ordered steamed pork dumpling(15 to a serve). This is where is went(further) down hill. First they brought out a mushroom stew looking dish which while yummy looking wasn’t our dumplings. She took some convincing that we hadn’t ordered that before taking it away. A few minutes later we were brought steamed dumpling. It was about 2 seconds before my friends said, there’s 10 not 15 in this. So waved the waitress down and told her again wrong order. We again pointed to what we ordered, the waitress didn’t seem convinced but too the wrong dumpling away. Our initial waitress came over to confirm our order. We again pointed on the menu to what we had ordered and she made a recognition face, like she remembered. 5 minutes she said. 5 mins later we got the right dumpling and they were awesome! I read another review of this place that said you come here for the dumpling. Well clearly he was right. Not the service, not the cleanliness. The dumplings and the price. We paid $ 11.50 total.

A new player to take on Auntie just up the road. We didn’t have to wait nowhere near as long here, the vegan options were plentiful on the menu and the whole family were very impressed. As dumpling fans there is a need for more of these venues to take on Auntie’s queues and grumpy service on this strip. We will definitely be revisiting the new player in town as the service is better the food similar and costs still cheap. Great to see some genuine dumpling competition.

This venue appears to be a new player in the Koornang Rd strip and is here with a bang. The servings are big and very tasty, with fresh ingredients. The service is quick too. The Pan Fried Buns have sesame seeds on the base and great fillings, watch out for the juices. Will be now our go to dumpling house.
