Red Bamboo is by far my favorite restaurant in Byron Bay! So glad we found it, situated in the alley behind a butcher shop on Jonson st. All of the food here is amazing! I’m from California and I eat a lot of Chinese food, but the chefs here at Red are the real deal, because this is the best I’ve ever had. It is a beautiful restaurant that has AC inside and additional seating outside. They offer a full bar but you can also BYO wine & beer. Of all the restaurants I visited during my stay in Byron, this one boasted the BEST customer service and the owner is a sweetheart who will make you feel right at home. They bring you ice cold water and actually wait on you, unlike most other places nearby. Now on to the most important part, their delicious food! Seriously, everything is to die for. My favorites were the beef dishes, such as the Szechuan Beef, Lemongrass Beef, and the Beef spring rolls. I also greatly enjoyed the soft shell crab entrée, chicken skewers entrée, Peppered Beef Cubes, and the Flaming Pork. The flaming pork actually arrives at your table on fire! The flavors in all of their dishes are very complex and leave your mouth watering for more. Even the simplest part, the steamed jasmine rice, is so flavorful and the best I’ve ever had. The prices are very reasonable and portions are large. They also offer a lunch special until 2:00pm(closed Tuesday for lunch) that is a great deal at about $ 10. Otherwise, they are open daily for dinner from 5:30pm — 9:30pm. Enjoy!
