I’m not sure what the go was here… Groups of diners and coffee-drinkers received a more cheerful greeting from the wait-staff than a single diner such as yours truly. On the crystal-clear and balmy morning I graced their charming doorstep, I expected a slightly more enthusiastic welcome. Instead, I had to actually prompt the waitress to seat me and tell her that I was there for breakfast. Granted that once my Soy Mocha, Bottle of Still Spring Water and Big Breakfast came, it was worth waiting for; it just simply wasn’t the kind of atmosphere that encourage post-meal lingering. Irrespective of the above gripe, the food was spectacular. The eggs were poached to perfection. One small pop, and their liquid gold was flowing everywhere. The bacon was done to a rather crispy turn. I also had the first-time pleasure of eating a field mushroom for breakfast. It was dusted in herbs and grilled… and about the size of a small saucer. And don’t get me started on how good the toasted turkish bread was! Had the service been just that tiny bit better, an extra star would’ve been awarded.

Both girls working last week as my girl friend and I had dinner were terrific. Knowledgable and attentive without being over the top. We shared a bruschetta, followed by pasta and it was all delicious. Would love to go back next time in Byron. Keep up the great work!

My husband and I were staying in a backpackers hostel nearby whilst visiting Byron Bay and decided to go out for lunch one afternoon after browsing some of the surrounding shops. For being relatively early in the day during her week, Mokha on Lawson was about as full as a place its size can get which further peaked our interest, but we were lucky enough to snag an outside table on the sidewalk. We both decided on the pumpkin burger — it looked too unique to pass up. It was a great choice, and something both vegetarians and carnivores alike could enjoy. Crusted in black sesame seeds and bursting with flavour, it was a perfect choice for a cool windy day. The potato wedges were just fine. Overall for a quick lunch, it was a great choice. I wish I had gotten the chance to try the breakfast — that looked delish too!

One of the best breakfasts ever! Their menu is creative and adventurous– not your run-of-the-mill bacon and eggs place. I ordered the homemade pumpkin bread topped with cherry tomato confit, sliced avocado, sunflower sprouts and feta cheese topped with the most PERFECTLY poached egg I’ve ever had. It was moorish and filling! (My date had the salmon eggs Benedict and also had rave reviews!) Their hot chai latte with soy milk was also probably one of the best I’ve ever had. Their indoor-outdoor patio is cozy and comfortable and had a lovely calm ambience. If you’re looking for a tasty and affordable breakfast without the wait or the«scene», this place is worth checking out! It should definitely be in the top 5 breakfast spots in Byron Bay.

Friendly welcome but that’s as far as the good news goes. The open steak burger arrived tough and cold with nice garnishes but stacked on cold and solid bread. At least the wedges accompanying them were warm. The other dish was a mushroom & pesto fettuccine dish from the specials board. Though the pasta arrived at an acceptable temperature the pasta was literally drowning in the pesto sauce making the pasta dish unbearable. Go here if you want to pay for middle-to-high prices but receive barely edible food.

Stopped in here for cappuccinos the first morning we woke up in Byron Bay. The coffees were great and the food menu looked alright but we weren’t hungry. We came in here the next day a bit earlier and they were just opening the café a tad before 7.30am.The girl staff member told us we had to wait outside for 10 minutes until she finished opening so we left and found just as nice cappuccinos at Succulent Café in Byron Street nearby… and friendlier service. When you want a coffee, you don’t want to wait 10 minutes out on the street before you are even served. If she had said come in and sit down at a table inside while we waited for her… then we would have stayed.

Great coffee and brekkie, sitting on the sunny side of the street. Eggs benedict amongst the best we have had. Likewise corn and zucchini fritters delicious. It’s not cheap, but it is very good.

The vibes at Mokha on Thursday nights, when musician Garrett Kato performs outside are uncomparable, so wonderful. Perfect setting for enjoying a warm Byron evening, in good company, sipping some wine and digging the tunes. I could not speak for the food, since I never ordered any, but the menu items sounded just lovely! The highlight of Mokha is definitely the atmosphere, and the comfort of its intimate setting.
