It is a nice Mexican, fajitas are delicious and worthy to try. Friday nights often require booking.

Best Mexican so far! This was my first time at La Quinta and the good reviews are all true. We had a dip to start(quite small dip portion but with tasty tortilla chips) and the cheesy meatballs(I preferred the dip, but my meat-eater partner really enjoyed them). Luckily the entrée was quite small, because the main was so filling! We both got the beef mince grande — which is a deep fried shell with rice, beef, salsa, sour cream, salad etc inside the shell. The beef was AMAZING — so tender and mouth watering. We also got a jug of the sangria — kind of expensive for what it was but it was really tasty. It’s really busy at peak times(Friday, Saturday night etc) so I would definitely book if you can. Can’t wait to go back!

This is Mexican at it’s best! Its always busy so make sure you book. I love their flag system so the staff know to serve you. I always have their roasted chillias, as well as their ‘street enchiladas’ with lamb and goats cheese. I promise you won’t be disappointed with this place, and the best thing is they do takeaway too!

Absolutely love this place! The food is great and the servers are lovely. People might complain about it being a little cramped and noisy, but in my eyes, thats just part of the mexican atmosphere. The traditional sangria is a must have!

If you have a serious Mexican food craving, then this is the place! Although I hated the atmosphere being that it’s so crowded, hot & noisy I’d be back for the food, a quick in & out restaurant for me We couldn’t get out there quick enough & couldn’t hear my partner or myself speak The service was fantastic 5stars for that!

Seriously over-priced-not-in-the-least Mexican. …And It’s so sad because this place has such an opportunity to be great given it’s location. Someone(who cooks or owns this place!) needs to take a trip o/s to see what real, fresh Mexican is.

As Bulimba locals, we find ourselves frequenting La Quinta quite often. It’s a short walk from our house, and that makes the various cocktails and beers go down so much easier knowing we don’t have to deal with(the lack of) parking. The menu covers all of the expected Mexican fare, but as typical Australians we haven’t had a whole lot of ‘traditional’ Mexican flavours to compare the dishes to. I will often order the beef Las Quintas’ Ensalada(tortilla bowl filled with lettuce, seasoned rice, black beans, sour cream, corn, cheese, tomato and a ‘special dressing’). The bowl is always crunchy and delicious, and the contents are consistently fresh and provide an excellent mix of flavours. This dish is also available via the takeaway menu(home delivery is unfortunately not offered — despite our close proximity it would be a welcome addition to the restaurant offerings!). This place is always packed, no matter what night you happen to be there. My advice is to grab a drink at the bar as you wait for a table and enjoy the colourful Mexican décor.

Prices are as reasonable as any Mexican. But the reason this quaint little bar next to the Thai restaurant on Oxford St gets packed night after night is because of the drinks and menu. With the usual taco and burrito flairing varieties is a myriad of classic almost not Mexican if it wasn’t for the sauce items. Items like the succulent pork ribs which might I add fell off the strangely long bones… and the chicken breast with a sauce that tasted like a weird salsa mixed with cream type substance. Also tender and quite the yum. There is also beef ribs and other dishes that help make La Quinta cross the line past regular semi decent Mexican place to decent Mexican place with a touch of class. I thought it was a great idea to put the flag on the top of the cactus Whenever you required the waiter, genius. Simple and effective. Great place to come and catch up with friends, tables are fairly close together so I wouldn’t recommend bringing a pram for you mums out there. Also ring ahead for Fri, Sat and Sun, like ring on Thursday ahead.

We went looking for good Mexican food in Brisbane, and while we’d heard mixed reviews, we thought we’d try La Quinta for lunch. The menu was reasonably broad, with a good range of dishes. They also had a good selection of Mexican beers along with the usual sangria and margaritas. But … the food was pretty average. The beef burrito was bland, and the tacos were small(which is ok, but not for $ 7.50) and tasted just ok. The spicy, rich, fresh flavours of good Mexican food were totally missing. So, it’s ok, and if someone’s organising something there, I’d probably go, but I won’t go back by choice.

While the food is «not bad» — I have to say that I may be a bit biased because I hail from Southern California, and have visited many a Mexican joint, and even set foot in Mexico many a time, so I did not really find the food to be totally authentic. But bias aside, it smells great in there, and the drinks really caught my eye. Try the Sangria, share a bottle with your table(I may be a lush but I think a bottle is enough for 2 – 3 people, so if you have more than that, get several more bottles), they come with lime sugar rimmed glasses. I had the enchiladas with beef which comes with the sides of rice, guacamole, sour cream. Unfortunately, it came dry, the tortilla hard to cut through. The rice did not even come close to resembling the look and flavor of traditional Mexican rice. Also, to note, I asked the waiter to add extra spice/chili to it. There was NOHEAT to it. Honestly, while this appears to be a busy, popular spot, I found the menu overpriced, under-spiced, and unauthentic. Aside, I would recommend this place as a meet-up spot for drinks.

This place used to be great! Great food with large servings! Only second to Mad Mex in terms of its deliciousness! Unfortunately, on our recent trip here last Saturday we found that the food had«slipped» dramatically, putting it dangerously close to Montezuma’s quality(which is, to be nice, awful. Montezuma’s should not even be considered«Mexican» cuisine). My friends and I will be sticking to Mad Mex from now on, with it’s fresh, vibrant grilled menu. Shame to see another Mex restaurant go downhill!

I absolutely love this Mexican restaurant and it falls only second to Montezumas when it comes to food. However their drinks and location are better. The service here is exceptionally quick and the food is delicious — particularly the Ensalada! La Quinta however is often incredibly busy and near impossible to get a table at. In order to get a table I would recommend going for a early dinner(5pm) or a late dinner. Do not arrive at 6pm or 7pm without a reservation!

I really loved their mole and pico de gallo. I think they strike a good balance between authenticity and deliciousness when it comes to mexican food. We got the nachos which were tasty, as is the queso frito. Next time I want to try the salad. I was jealous of the tables around me who had ordered it… it looks amazing AND you can eat the bowl!

Yum, good value and good flavours. Much better than most Mexican places in Brisbane. Four stars… keep up the good work.

La Quintas is quite possibly the best Mexican restaurant in Brisbane. Visiting on a Friday or Saturday night without a booking is possible, if not recommended as long as you rock up early. The food is amazing — huge servings, vibrant flavours, melt in your mouth shredded beef and surprisingly good Mexican rice. They don’t just cover everything in sour cream, salsa and cheese to disguise the bland, soggy meals like some Mexican restaurants I won’t mention(coughmontezumascough). The only thing I can fault them for is always managing to seat me so close to the kitchen that I can see and almost taste all the food coming out for other tables, such torture when you’re famished!

What do you think of when you think of Mexican? What comes to my mind is beer, mexican hats, tacos and La Quinta Mexican. They certainly do a good job here, the food is amazing plus they have great cocktails. All in all, not a bad evening out I reckon. I came here not long ago on a week night. It is not as busy as you will find of a weekend and it was nice to reward myself after a particularly long day of work with some nacho goodness and a drink of two. I realise nachos are not normally considered a main meal, but I don’t really care, I find it hard to go past them on a menu and these come with tasty BBQ chicken.

I can still remember when this place was quiet and unknown. Getting a table on a Tuesday night to order a highly recommended banquet for 2 was as simple as walking in. Those days however are long since gone. Word has travelled fast around Brisbane and this is now one of the most sought after places to eat for relatively cheap and very hearty Mexican food. Definitely call ahead to make a booking. Especially on a weekend, as the Sangria is a favourite of many locals who have finished work and looking to have a solid feed before heading out for more drinks elsewhere. La Quinta is also an excellent family restaurant too. Just try for a quieter time and call ahead if your bringing a large group and one of the very friendly staff will no doubt accommodate the 10 orders of chicken wings you should definitely get.

I love La Quinta, from the cheap tequila slushies to the happy, friendly staff, but most of all, the food is excellent. We made the mistake twice in a row of being so excited by the menu that we ordered too much — the portions are mostly very generous. The quesadilla with Monterey Jack cheese and hot sausage is so good! There’s a great range of beers, and also a wide range of cocktails and shot liqueurs and there’s a cute system where you raise a little flag on your table when you’re ready for more. Birthdays are fun too — the b’day girl or boy gets to wear a sombrero for a bit when the staff all come around and sing. Be sure to book ahead as La Quinta fills up very quickly and is quite small as venues go. The tables are pretty close together too, so maybe not the place for a romantic tete a tete.
