I love little stores like this. The ones that have so many random home and kitchen items that you don’t know where to look and can simultaneously imagine and not imagine a place for each item in your home. «Yes, I definitely need one of those candles even though I already have heaps and don’t have any room for more». When I am here, I imagine myself using bath salts, candles, cook books and cooking utensils, despite the fact that I don’t really need or ever use them. The shop is beautifully arranged and there are lots of quirky gift ideas.

Having recently attended a huge sale at Green Grass, I can attest to the cuteness of this boutique. Bird head cookie canisters, cute babushka glasses(that stacked into each other!) cookbooks, coffee keep cups(that are handy for Park Bench Expresso next door) dreamy wooden bowls, perfumes, colourful and sweet leather bags, aroma Diffusers, T2 containers and oddles of cute children’s paraphernalia. …All this AND more are available at this winsome Oxford St Store. I’d dedicate some time to peruse the shelves as there is a lot of stock to process, but this scrutiny is well worth it when you walk out with that highly coveted item.

The whole«the grass is greener on the other side» always rings true when I visit my friends’ houses — they always have cool artefacts they’ve picked up travelling around the world, or something meaningful passed down through the family. After spending ten minutes in this shop, I can happily say that my grass is the greenest of all the grasses. Being a massive sucker for anything coffee or food related, I knew that I’d be leaving this shop with armfuls of bags. There are oodles of cook books lining the shelves and stacks of baking utensils, unique crockery and coffee brewing gadgets. The ceramic coffee and tea cups with attached ceramic spoons are ridiculously cute and highly necessary(as I keep telling myself) in a share house which seems to constantly be bereft of teaspoons. Beyond food there’s a range of women’s clothing, diffusers and stationary. But back to food — the owners have opened up Park Bench Espresso which is connected to the back of the shop — so pop in there to refuel with a Cleanskin Coffee after you’ve bought all the new contents of your home.

This little shop has an eclectic range and style, which makes me wonder whether it does a roaring trade and with whom, but it’s one of those lovely shops which is like going to a market every day. Here there are clothes, bags, skin and beauty products, kitchen and dining ware; even sauces and jams. I bought a handbag here last year which I’ve worn to death and it’s still going strong, but more recently I was in looking for a coffee cups. You need a little time to pore over the busy shelves and peer into the nooks and crannies, but it’s worth it.

Christmas shopping to me to a wide range of places looking for gifts, Green Grass was not a place I’d mentally prepared myself for. I imagine if you’re a girly-girl, room at home covered in pink and unicorns you’d find a place like this completely wonderful. But unfortunately being hit in the face with 3 different smells of incense and bath salts was an interesting experience. This place is not for me but I can see how it could be a complete hit with lots of people. I didn’t end up buying any gifts from here though so I can’t give them credit for solving my impossible gift problems.

You know you’ve found a great store when you walk through the door and your step unconsciously slows as you scan the room planning what to look at first. This is one of those stores. The place is packed with pretty much anything you might need for your home or body. They have beautiful clothes, jewellery, bath products and much more. The store is full of women making their way through the aisles. It’s a popular place that’s been in Bulimba for years; no shopping trip to Oxford St is complete without it.

I don’t think gift shops can get more cute and whimsical than Green Grass Home & Body. They have bunting hanging in their store for goodness’ sake. Bunting. This place is the definition of quaint. They sell a really lovely range of homewares and gifts that you can’t pass over. The shop itself gives off an aura of freshness and sweetness, but I’m probably biased because I like bunting and tea, of which they had a lot sitting in a corner. There are cooking utensils and cards and a slew of books appropriate to sit in your home, whether you actually want to read them or you just want people to think you read them. I was particularly impressed with a book of miscellaneous facts about everything and nothing. Grab a coffee around the corner and pick an appropriate gift for a friend or for yourself in this delightful little shop.
