Decent food plus we got free wine due to waitress losing order. Smashed pavlova to finish. Did you know that pavlova was named after the Russian ballerina Anna Pavlova after she toured Australia and New Zealand in the 1920s? Well you do now!

Hadn’t been to this restaurant for years, so my neighbour and I thought we would check it out. We both ordered the ‘fish and chips’ which was flathead served with chips, tartare sauce, and cos lettuce. For $ 23 per serve we were sorely disappointed. We were served 3 small, overcooked pieces of flathead, 2 cos lettuce leaves(and that’s exactly what they were…2 leaves put on the plate, no dressing, and nothing else with them), chips(nice enough), and tartare sauce(the best thing on the plate). When I queried whether the 2 dry lettuce leaves were correct, the waitress reminded me that the menu said ‘with cos lettuce’. So sad that the food at this restaurant does not come close to its wonderful location. Won’t be back in a hurry.

My wife and I dine here often. Whether it’s Sunday brunch or dinner, the food, service and atmosphere are always great. The food is Modern Australian with European influences. They have a good cellar. Diners look over the fairways of the Indooroopilly Golf Links which during the days provide a pleasing view. At night, some of the large gum trees on the fairways are up-lit and these give a slightly ghostly but beautiful backdrop. Dining, especially for brunch, is relaxed with kids more than welcome. In the evening the atmosphere becomes a little more formal but is still quite relaxed. The restaurant can get very busy on popular days, so it pays to book.

The layout and ambiance of this place is its main redeeming quality and that may be worth a visit. But I would keep it to a visit with minimal eating. The dishes sound great on the menu, but they are not tasty. The cauliflower soup with roasted garlic, which was the special on the evening I was there, was pretty much tasteless. The shrimp ravioli wasn’t much better. Also, the service was rather slow.
