This Café is a testimony to the«you only get out what you put in» philosophy. All the ingredients they use are top quality, from the coffee beans to the chocolate topping. Combine that with a skilled and friendly staff and you have a perfect way to start your morning.

* Good coffee * Delicious hot chocolate * Friendly(and cute) staff * Proper LARGE size takeaway cups * Cool name * Cute little location * Just around the corner from my office These are all things that mean I will be a regular here! There are many places in the city to find good coffee. This is one of them.

Frisky Goat. I’d been seeing photos of you around the social media traps. From Instagram to Unilocal check-ins you haunted me as that CBD coffee nook I should have visited by now but just hadn’t gotten to. Well, BAM. Achievement Unlocked! This morning, a meeting in the CBD provided the convenient opportunity to casually suggest Frisky Goat. Like a pro. Keep in mind this isn’t really a spot to stop and mooch, although there are a few stools and bar tables for you to perch upon. And in a history of bottom-of-office-building-cafes equating to less than amazing coffee, you’ll be surprised to know Frisky Goat(pouring Supreme Roasters coffee and Bunker Hot Chocolate) are a cut above the rest. My latte wasn’t overly milky and I could actually detect coffee. Impressed. Plus, I know the guys at Bunker are pretty fussy with who they give their hot chocolate too, so they’ve got to be good. Oh, and for my lactose intolerant buddies. Bonus points. They offer almond milk for $ 1 extra.

I’ve been meaning to stop by Frisky Goat for months now, but usually I’m running late, so I just go for something closer to home. Today was a really chilly and rainy day with no early class, and I really wanted a toasty latte to bring with me to study, so I finally made my way down George Street to this coffee hub tucked away in the city. Just the name of this place itself should piqué anyone’s interest, but even more than that, the ratings for their coffee has been consistently high. To my pleasant surprise, the coffee didn’t fall short of my expectations! While I’m not usually a fan of dark roast, I enjoyed this roast, as it didn’t taste burnt at all. Though the coffee didn’t have a particular nutty or fruity aroma, it was still aromatic and smooth. It was a little more acidic than I would have liked, but that’s me being overly critical. I would give their coffee a 4.5÷5, at least for Brisbane standards, and the location is quite perfect for those who work in the city! They also offer almond milk as an option, which I definitely want to try sometime. The baristas were also quite friendly, and their mascot goat is just too cute! //edit Tried the almond milk latte! Was less than delighted, but it was worth a try! Dampens the coffee taste and waters down the coffee flavor a bit, and in my opinion, not worth the extra dollar.

I’ve been going to the Frisky Goat for a number of years now, discovered it’s ancestor way back in 2008. I must say this — I have tried coffee at a number of different coffee spots in the Brisbane CBD and I keep coming back to the Frisky Goat, because I find their blend superior to most. I know coffee can be a matter of taste, but if it is good taste you are after — then this is the place to be. Leo and his staff know their coffee and make what I believe to be the Best Coffee in Brisbane. Mind you, I have had the occasional below par coffee from them, but I’ve simply had to let Leo know and he fixed me up. So there’s great customer service to boot. Lastly the décor is awesome, I love 171 George Street — from the outside it is a step back 100 or so years and from the inside, Frisky Goat, tucked into the corner with it’s beautiful wooden bench is understated elegance, the posters promoting local gigs just add some awesome funkiness.

So I guess it’s about time the duchess said something about one of favourite coffee places in the City. Frisky Goat can be a little hard to locate as you walk down George Street — externally, the only indication of their existence are the seats by the road, a blackboard and one of those roll-up canvas stand things. Considering they are right next to another café with side-walk seating, it makes it just that little bit harder to spot if you aren’t paying attention. Once you find it though, you’ll find that the little corner where they are tucked in is the cosiest little spot for a café. The deco looks like it was set up to be a bar — with a MASSIVE coffee machine taking up the bulk of the available counter space. The house blend being served is the Sweet Cocoa blend — beautifully smooth and not too intense — perfect for a afternoon pick-me-up. There are a few other blends available as well — though I’ve yet to try them. The beans are also available for sale — if you buy in a big quantity, they are even willing to grind just a portion of the beans and grind the rest as you require(if you don’t mind popping in again) as the beans will keep their flavours better if freshly ground. I really appreciated the offer — problem was that although we bought a fair amount of beans… Between my housemate and myself we wound up finishing the lot in a week: p Considering the onset of warm weather, do try making some cold brews with the Sweet Cocoa blend — it works amazingly well. Point to note — they have very limited seating available, so it’s best if you do a take-away.
