My experience with DigiDirect was terrible. I purchased, or so I thought, an OM-DEM5 online in mid July and waited for delivery… a week later I enquired where my order was and they informed me it was on backorder with the supplier. A further 3 weeks later I received a one line email to say the backorder would not be filled and to contact them. Contact them? Why was no one calling me to explain and try and resolve the problem. I asked if they could offer a comparable model or a discount on a similar camera and all I got was«Would you like us to arrange a refund as there would be a significant price difference to change to the E-M5II» and when I asked again. «I can offer a discount on a new E-M5II but there is such a price difference between it and the Elite you had ordered, what kind of price would you be happy with ?» So after waiting a month, not having the camera I expected in time for my long awaited overseas trip I got nothing that resembles customer service. Now I have to see if I do get the refund… I would avoid DigiDirect.

You know, I really wanted to love this store and make it my go-to camera shop. I was browsing their website and I noted they had a click-and-collect option, brilliant! I could order online and pick it up in-store the next day! … or so it seemed. Days after placing my order I received an email from a customer service representative stating that the camera I ordered was out of stock and wouldn’t be available for at least another 7 – 10 days, I wasn’t given an option of ordering something else or a refund, that was that, I had to wait an entire week for them to receive the item in Melbourne and THEN ship it to their Brisbane store so I could collect. 12 days passed, along with a few angry emails from me informing them that this system was ridiculous and it should be amended so that no other customers would have to deal with this bs. On the 15th day I received an email informing me that the item that I ordered is now discontinued and that they would send the next model up to the Brisbane CBD store for me at no extra cost(there was like a $ 15 difference… lol). When it came to the day to pick up my item, the excitement of purchasing a new camera was long-gone. The customer service in-store was good, but It didn’t do much to rectify the incompetence of their online ordering system and head office staff. In the time that It took me to wait to be told that I wouldn’t get what I ordered anway, I could have ordered a much better camera from overseas and received it hassle-free. Final Thoughts: If you want to buy a camera from DigiDirect, go in-store initially, don’t waste your time with their online system — It’s given me a terrible after-taste.

I recently downgraded from an SLR to a more compact camera. I’d done a little research online and had narrowed my camera to be down to two models, a Samsung and a Fujifilm camera. I stopped into Digidirect so that I could hold and get a feel for each of my potential suitors. Cooper was helpful without being too sales-y and gave, what I felt like, was his honest opinion on each of the options. While I must admit I had every intention of purchasing my final choice online, my experience in store while honing my research was friendly enough that I returned a week or so later and purchased the camera in store. The team on the floor are clued in enough to give you the run down if you’re not quite sure what it is you’re looking for. There’s also a small selection of accessories and more niche products like Polaroid Instax film.
