Whilst the food here is nice and it’s more of a Japanese restaurant feel. It is quite expensive to eat here. So for us it is very much a sometimes only restaurant. We had the Peking Duck sushi roll. Very inventive and very tasty. Also had the eel rice dish. I love eel, so this definitely was a winning dish for me. I really enjoy the cucumber salad, I find it refreshing and light. This will definitely be something I order again. They gave the kids a bacon/lychee stick. It was ok, probably not something I would order again. Overall a delightful place to visit, but quite pricey.

This place is mediocre. Food is pricey. food is average. The menu doesn’t even have photos. Sure they take reservations, but they can’t handle a big group. They can’t handle the orders of a big group(our group had 7 adults, and 4 kids). The first thing we ordered were two mini sukiyakis. Now, I understand that these things take a while hence we ordered it early. But holy cow, we were waiting patiently for all our orders because all of them took a while. Their excuse was«there was a lot of orders, and each order has their own priority». So okay, fine, that is reasonable. But even after all our orders came out, the sukiyakis were still not there. So I proceeded to tell them to forget about that order and cancel it, which hinted me that they probably haven’t even bothered to make that order. I am pretty sure it doesn’t take more than an hour to make two bowls of sukiyakis. Needless to say, this place is not worth a second visit.

Tokio Fans is a funny little Japanese restaurant with knock-off«designer“décor. It’s located«lake side» in a patch of other small restaurants, on a friday midday-ish it’s generally a busy with business people lunching. The service is average and you really have to look alert to try and get someone to assist you. I’ve been twice because it’s so close to my office and the options in the area are limited. The food is good but perhaps a little expensive for the over all experience? I wouldn’t go out of my way to dine here.

This shop is in the Home Hub Castle Hill shopping centre on Victoria Rd. Not sure if it is associated with the restaurant nearby. The teriyaki chicken box comes with miso and the salad has a little crab mixed through. It is OK. The sushi is OK too. If you come too early in the morning or too late in the afternoon there is very little on offer so the positive is that it is freshly made. It is in a shopping complex that does not have any other Japanese restaurants so it is a captive market if this is what you are after. It is worth the drive to Baulkham Hills or Castle Hill if you are fussy.

When craving for Japanese food in the hills area your options are very limited. For a non sushi train place they are even more limited. I’d avoided going to tokio because I know how expensive the restaurants in this area are. Despite this we were actually lucky to get a table for 2 on a Wednesday night as the place was practically full house. Wait staff service was quite slow which was disappointing. Having to grab their attention to order is never a good sign. Once ordered though the food came out relatively fast and I did enjoy all the dishes we ordered. Again when it came time to pay the bill service was again slow so we walked to the cashier to pay. Whilst the food was nice it wasn’t worth the price so I wouldn’t be rushing back to this place anytime soon. It would more be another case of I’m desperate for Japanese and want to indulge myself.

Although we have eaten here before and enjoyed our meal this time we were very disappointed with the quality of the food — the salad was covered in a heavy dressing, tempura had a very thick batter on it and was greasy, sashimi was dry and tasteless and the salmon was very fatty. We love Japanese food but this was very disappointing and we won’t return

It’s a good sushi place for the area. Normally the only sushi you can find out in the hills district or the western suburbs is a sushi bay. This place however is lovely, small but is on the lakeside which is somewhat nice. The food is good but slightly over priced but then again isn’t sushi always?

Tokio Fans has good food, a nice location, but falls flat in pretty much every other area. It’s expensive for what you get, the surrounding restaurants also have this problem, trading on the nice view and exclusive district to jack up prices. Our order was screwed up twice in one sitting, and the staff didn’t deal with it very satisfactorily. The meal for 2 ended up costing over $ 110 for 5 dishes and Sake, you could get the same for much less elsewhere. The good points are the food and the décor. We had some of their rolls, which can be creative and tasty, such as the Peking Duck roll and Salmon Skin roll. The Sashimi is fresh and tasty and the dessert we had was a tasty cheesecake with some extra wafers and pocky on the side. I wouldn’t go out of my way for this one, if you’re in the area and don’t mind paying a bit extra it could be worth a look.
