Asthma Foundation Op Shop Annerley

This op-​shop may be in an up and coming suburb, but for now it’s a diamond in the rough that packs a punch.
Here you’ll find primarily fashion vintage and thrift finds and minimal housewares. It is small but don’t let that deter you — there are still plenty of treasures to be discovered.

This store is among the many in the op-​shop drag of Annerley,
and while it isn’t the best I’ve come across it still packs a hefty vintage punch.
What I relish most about entering an op shop like the Asthma Foundation
is the little thrill of not knowing what exactly I will find.
There are the usual thrift store finds;
dubious stained polo shirts, crinkly business attire and old jewelry,
but if you persevere you may find the odd clothing gem or two.
And while this store hasn’t yielded me as many bountiful
bargains as its ipswich road brother and sisters,
I still very much enjoy lusting over the piles of fur stoles and jackets
and the groaning retro rack on hand.
Well worth a gander when out and about in Annerley.

Asthma Foundation op shops have always been a hit with me. When I’m in an Asthma Foundation store, I always try to find something I like because I can totally get behind this cause. The op shop in Annerley is a fair size and like any good op shop, it’s chockers full of stuff. I believe that every op shop has it’s strengths and weaknesses. The Asthma Foundation’s strengths are (for me at least), believe it or not, corporate attire and retro garb. The corporate wear is littered throughout the store. There’s no designated area for it– you’re just going to have to rummage through the shop to find the goods. There is, however, a small section of the store devoted to an ever impressive collection of retro gear. It’s moderately expensive, but it’s nothing you haven’t experienced before if you’re an avid retro/​vintage queen. My absolute favourite dress of all time came from this store. I did pay $ 45 for it (from the retro section) but it was worth it. They haven’t got a bad accessories section here either. Let’s just say this: it’s not the best op shop on Ipswich Road, but it’s not the worst either. As I said, I try to find something in Asthma Foundation op shops, because I know it’s going to a good cause. Most people who choked and coughed through primary school would agree.
