Amazing pastries, awesome pies, good bread, respectable coffee. Everything fresh and feeling like it’s just come out of the oven. Great place but I just wish there was a tiny bit more space(or some outdoor tables) to sit and have a coffee in a proper mug while picking away at the delicious baked goods.

This is going to be a fairly short and sweet review. You need to get the chocolate croissant. It is amazing. Crispy exterior, followed by a soft, fluffy and buttery interior and then bam! You hit a river of warm chocolate. Once you finish that croissant you’ll need to have a cigarette ;) This bakery is located in a pretty industrial area and from the outside it doesn’t look like much. But boy oh boy is it good. They make everything in house in the morning and as fair as I’m aware there’s only one guy making everything. There’s fruit tarts, sourdough loaves, croissants and more. Go early though! The good stuff sells early.

Tucked amongst retro and vintage furniture stores on busy Botany Road is this little bakery. It’s in such a strange place because there really isn’t anything around. Kind of industrial area although I did spy construction work down the road. Walked in about 11am because last time I came in about 8am, there was no pastries for sale. They sell a small variety of sourdough bread. Although they looked fantastic, I was peckish and was eyeing the tarts of which there was a mixed berry, strawberry and chocolate ones. I ended up buying the mixed berry tart and definitely will be back. It was packed with flavour with tasty pastry. They also had croissants and almond croissants that looked really nice too. I was served by a young girl who was really friendly. Out of the way from the normal café spots you’ll find but worth it if you’re in the area doing outlet shopping!

A nice little bakery. I think a couple run it, and seem to do everything themselves. Good sourdough and really«meaty» croissants(still fluffy, not bread-like or anything, but also not hollow like a lot I’ve had). They’re always friendly and offer much better bread than the other 3 bakeries & supermarket on that strip of shops.

A gentrifying Waterloo is full of surprises — this one is in the form of baked goods. This section of Waterloo has a number of ordinary bakeries, you know, with crappy white bread and pies … and then there’s White Cockatoo. They have delectable looking pastries, and some decent loaves, paying particular attention to various kinds of sourdough blends, and things like soy & linseed, soy, and other interesting sorts of grains. It’s a little upmarket but the loaves are dense and last a while, so you get your money’s worth. One of the nicest touches is the shop signage, done in Charles Rennie Macintosh-like Scottish style. Very chic.

Great little bakery across the road from the Waterloo IGA. The product range is simple but very high quality. The organic sourdough bread is top notch and the pastries and sweet treats are also delicious. The almond croissant and the seasonal fruit filled tarts are both delicious. This place is great.

Blink and you’ll miss it but if you find it, consider yourself lucky. Not your run-of-the-mill bakery, this hidden treasure, dwarfed by its adjacent buildings, is stocked with gourmet French sticks, baguettes and sweet treats. It is not the cheapest in the area(loaves start from $ 6.50) but the bread really is high-quality because that’s all they focus on. Try one of their scrumptious chocolate croissants. Ideal for discerning dinner party guests or anybody who likes that familiar smell of fresh, crusty bread. This bakery is not open on Mondays and accepts cash only.
