Went here on a last minute whim with two other girlfriends at 6pm on a Friday, and we had an absolute blast – one hour of jumping on trampolines and diving into piles of foam for $ 16. As a slightly grumpy twenty something, if we had stayed much later the hordes of teens and pre-teens would have started to get on my nerves(yes, this place is mostly designed for kids, I know, but the guards who keep an eye on the jumping for safety really earn their money!). Otherwise the timing was perfect and I really got a work out! It was a great precursor to an evening of dinner and drinks with the girls, and I’m looking forward to going back. Next time I’m going to wear proper athletic gear, though!

So you finish your work, you figured you gotta do some exercise. Gym got boring, cycling gets annoying, jog hurts your knees… Fear not! There’s sky zone! I use to think sky zone is for kids! Trampoline, who does that anymore! But I cannot be more wrong! Sky zone is quite awesome. It’s a huge place and there’s lots of pits you can have fun with. I totally did not realise how much exercise trampolining is until I got there. I also didn’t know it can be soooo hard to bounce around! It’s a good place for corporate Bonding, silly with friends, or even an adventurous date night. If you are keen to do some proper exercises, there’s also dodge ball night comps too! Definitely worth a try! 4 stars and not 5 cause it can get really hot, and the drinks there are quite pricy.

Back in the day I was the kid that’d get kicked out of places like this. They called me the ‘agitator’ because I’d always try to bend and sometimes break the rules. Turns out that all these years later very little has changed, and I was reminded of this when 10 minutes after strolling in, I was told I may have to stroll back out: 1. I wasn’t wearing appropriate socks(this was fair, but the woman at the front desk didn’t communicate clearly that I could only wear Sky Zone socks — she asked me if I had socks, to which I responded ‘yes’). 2. I was jumping on the same trampoline as a friend, ignoring the one person per trampoline rule(again, fair, and something I’m glad they regulate as even having one person on a trampoline isn’t entirely safe — especially if I’m that person) Anyway, I bought socks and decided to abide by the rules, and quickly became glad I did. The experience is like none other — I dunked hoops off a trampoline(something I’ve wanted to do for years), played trampoline dodgeball(another bucket-list item), did front flips into a foam pit, and had an amazing workout in the process.

You ever watch that movie Daddy Day Care? Where the kids run amok and pretty much run the place and the adults have no power? Sky Zone is kind of like that… if it weren’t for the staff enforcing the rules, there would definitely be a Lord of the Flies situation brewing here. At $ 18 an hour with socks it’s pretty affordable, though their locker system really sucks. There’s only one terminal for their 20+ lockers, and for whatever reason if someone checks out of their locker and you check in right after they check out, they will assign you that locker… so if that person shuts that locker right after you check in and are assigned that locker you’re screwed and will need to get a staff member to unlock it, unless you don’t mind losing $ 4. There are 4 primary zones to experience here, the trampoline zone where you can jump to your hearts desire(1 per square,) the basketball hoop zone(short and tall,) foam pit, and dodgeball. Foam pit was probably the most fun, assuming you don’t have a horde of children in front of you… as it can take a minute to climb out of. Didn’t get to experience dodgeball, as there was a horde of children in front… I would wear some athletic gear like DriFit as I totally did not expect to get such a workout from jumping… be prepared to sweat. Will definitely come back cause it was all in all a great time, even with the kids running the place.

Had an absolutely amazing time! Where to begin! So you book for the hour $ 18 and get a coloured wrist band and special jumping socks. And that hour goes by so fast! The place is broken up into stations: 1. The basketball ring. Here there is a basketball ring with a basketball and the floor is made out of trampoline. The aim is to get the ball in but also I saw some people do slam dunks you can jump that high! 2. General jumping area. Made out of square shaped trampolines. The rules are only one person per square for obvious safety reasons. Initially it was hard getting a section together as we were a group of four but people come and go so quickly it is achievable to do so. 3. Foam pit. Dive into a pit of foam! This was fun! It’s hard to get out but fun! 4. Dodge ball. You’re split into 2 teams — while jumping on a trampoline balls are being thrown at the opposite side in aim to hit other people and get them out! This one was intense. Last man or woman standing wins. I went on a Saturday afternoon and it was absolutely packed with kids! Might be good to go during the week! You get very sweaty so prepare for a workout. Might also be good to wear leggings or tights to prevent any heat burn rash if you fall and graze yourself. I recommend this experience it was great fun!

It all makes sense now — Jane Fonda, you had it right! Bring on the fluro leotards, big hair and sweatbands, trampolining is where it’s at if you want to work up a sweat! It’s trampolines galore in this hot warehouse in Alexandria. Ever wondered what it’d be like if you connected 30 trampolines together? Sorted. Dive into a pit of foam cubes? You can even do a front flip in. Do a slam dunk on a 4m tall basketball hoop? Ok, I can’t bounce as high as all the 15 year old kids, but I did it on the other shorter one! I didn’t expect to sweat as much as I did, but things get hot in this large tin shed, not to mention jumping up and down so much really gets the heart pumping. And strangely my arms of all things were sore the next day. But for all the fun it is, it’s worth it.
