Delicious food. I would have liked a little more attention, as struggled to gain attention for water

Albert Park has a problem and Yellow Door Café is a perfect example. This café is comfortable — comfortable in its own mediocrity, comfortable in fitout, comfortable menu. Albert Park is full of places like this and it’s no wonder — the denizens of Albert Park are the most comfortable people you’ll ever see. You could throw a dart at all the cafes in Albert Park and the result would be the same every time — bland coffee, unoriginal menu, and vacuous blowhards dressed poorly(but expensively) filling every table.

I can’t remember when this place first opened, but it’s still alright in my books. As alternative to the brash, sleek and loud and same-y options here. Admittedly, I haven’t been in this area for a while, but it does not mask the fact that i have no qualms choosing this place. Coffee isn’t bad, the burger is very good, and comes with fries, that are of good qaulity. That serving is filling. A nicer spot to hang-out in this bustling village, and at least one in which most people are stripped of this ridiculous and pretentious grandiloquent sense of self entitlement, and self centered nature. A better place to hang out. but probably not on the weekends.

It’s not that Yellow Door is bad. It’s not — the food’s nice, the coffee’s okay, the décor’s cheerful(and yellow). The problem, though, is that that’s all it is. The menu’s pretentious and not quite tasty enough to pull it off well. You get the feeling it’s fusing elements for fusion’s sake, not because they combine particularly well. For example, you get a haloumi sandwich and they serve it to you with a few salt and vinegar crisps on the side. Which doesn’t really work well — if anything, you need something sweet to cut the salty goodness. Ultimately, it’s certainly edible. But there are places right nearby which do traditional café fare and do it well, and places nearby which will do fusion cuisine but make it work much better.
