Salsa’s is a quick and easy Mexican franchise that has been around for some time now. I’ve eaten at their Glenelg restaurant and Westfield Marion food court a couple of times. Today I tried out the newish Salsa’s in Rundle Place, and it was probably the best experience I have had so far. While Salsa’s is a chain restaurant, I’ve found that the quality of both the food and service can really differ depending on the location. The Glenelg store has always had inattentive staff with bad attitudes, and the servings in the tacos are really small. The Marion location has better staff, but the food seems to sit around for a while(cold chips, cold meat in burritos etc). I assumed this was because, in a food court environment where you’re competing against McDonald’s/KFC/Hungry Jack’s etc., you need to equal their speed in order to retain customers. After my experience today, I know that this is not the case. Despite being in a food court setting, Salsa’s had my meal ready in less than 3 minutes. The chicken in my Mex bowl was hot and had a great chargrill flavour. The rice was also warm, as were the cooked veggies. The tomato salsa and guacamole were both refreshingly cold. The service was great. The staff were friendly and helpful, even when I changed things in the order. They offered me extra guacamole for $ 2(seriously, do people actually ever say ‘no’ to that question?!) and asked if I wanted my Mex bowl in a meal(which I didn’t, but appreciated anyway). From working in customer service previously myself, I get that this is targeted upselling, but it is pretty helpful when you’ve never been to a place before. My food arrived quickly all ready for me to take back to work. I discovered once I got back that they’d even stuck some corn chips in there. I did have to zap the Mex bowl for 30 seconds once I got back to the office, however I’m pretty picky with the temperature of my food, and the 10 minute walk obviously would have given my meal some time to cool down. Overall this Salsa’s has reminded me of the good things about the restaurant chain. I’d definitely come back.

I am a fan of Salsa’s! I’ve eaten there quite a few times and will return. It is fast food but it and not that great for you but it’s better than most options. The healthy parts: I love the Mucho Veggie bowl option which comes with black beans(so good), rice, broccoli(stalk bits and all, which I love), zucchini and a delicious creamy guacamole. The black bean tacos are similar and also delicious. The unhealthy(but oh so good): The mexicrinkle chips! These are absolutely a sometimes food but they are cooked fresh, seasoned with a yummy powder and just so good! They’re quite thick as well not like shoestring fries. Food is pricier than at most fast food establishments but the food is better quality and cooked nice and fresh with a decent amount of veggies that still look like veggies. I like all of the employees(smiling and polite and just a really good attitude) and although sometimes I’ve been waiting a little while for a meal I know I was eating in peak lunch hour and that’s to be expected. It’s nothing to do with the business but it’s good to know if you’re planning to go at a typical lunchtime. Yum! Yum! Also, good gf and vegetarian options.

Wow, this is the first time visiting Salsa’s, and I am super impressed! I haven’t tried the other stores(but will be doing so!) — I had the chicken and guacamole burrito with the Mexicrinkles. The chicken had a delicious char-grilled flavour, and the whole burrito tasted fresh and light — salads were fresh, and it was not greasy at all. In fact, I felt decidedly health-conscious eating this … until I got to those delicious fries. Covered in a yummy salty mixture, these were very more-ish. Service was fairly quick(burritos are cooked up to order) — but it was before 12.00, so I’m not sure what service is like when busy. Meals are on the expensive side for takeaway(nearly $ 15, I had to pay an extra $ 2 for a nicer drink), but for the quality of the meal it was worth it. Will definitely have to check out the other franchises!

I like a bit of the Tex Mex food, full of rich flavours and at times a good kick of chili heat. So it was time to try Salsas in Rundle Place Food Court. It was a peak lunch(12:30pm) and the food court was full. I got in the queue to order(the slow one). Like many places there are queues for each register and not necessarily 1st come 1st served. As I said, it was busy. but the food orders came out all over the place. — about 5 ordered after me but got their meal before I did! Not Good. I ordered a Trio of Tacos(soft ones not the hard ones) Chicken with Fresh Salsa and Guac, Pork with Pineapple Salsa and Beef with Red Cabbage, black bean and Habanero Salsa. Overall the tastes were quite nice and will likely eat from there again but they were not«power packed» like some I have tried elsewhere
