This one time, I was in my lunch break and saw a film crew filming a Bollywood movie in Rundle Mall. It was quite hard to be indifferent to the spectacle of it: drop dead gorgeous Indian women in the most bedazzling, ornate, OTT garments I’ve ever seen in my life. They rocked it. Most of us are kind of hard pressed to pull off the highly embellished look they were pulling off with aplomb, but if you are one of those lucky ladies or gents, get yasself down to India Fashions. Name pretty much says it all really. As many saris, pashminas, pyjamas and accessories as you could ever wish to find. The shop itself is a tiny explosion of colour, texture, and embellishment. It’s not big, but packs a big punch. Personally, while I love the rich fabrics I can’t see myself wearing them in everyday life, but I do really like some of the more sedate costume jewellery, and they even have some party decorations to make your next house party distinctive.

Many people adore the exotic fashions of India, and the streets of Adelaide have been seeing more and more people from India and its surrounds settling here over the past few decades so it is not unusual to find a few specialty stores around the place who only deal with one cultural attire. Indian Fashion is quite self explanatory I guess, but apart from the obvious — there are a range of other things provided through this rather exotic and beautiful business. Beauty products, bindis, henna(mhendi) artwork facials, threading, bangles, jewellery, menswear and women’s clothing, the amazing bridal wear and most Bollywood inspired bling you can think of including the charmingly decorated Sarees, Salwar Kameez and Lehengas. Go in and be amazed by some of the most luxurious fabrics you will ever encounter.
