Yum. Yum. And yum! Does that get across how I feel about Fork on the Road!?! I promised a review after the event and while it has taken me a few days, here it is. The tastiest option for me was @simonbryantchef and his Vegan Laksa for just $ 11. I’m a bit biased but I love everything that Simon Bryant cooks and he always uses the best local ingredients. Conveniently situated next door to Simon Bryant’s Dirty Inc. was the Barossa Valley Ice Cream tent and I did indulge in one of their cute as cute dixie cups of icecream for $ 5. If I’d had room left I would have indulged in some fare from Little Cake Tin. I love their old style caravan and adore their selection of sweet treats all for around $ 5 and $ 6. Other selections on offer included Patizzi from Archie’s Menu($ 3 in a range of different flavours), Wood Oven Pizza and Gourmet Hamburger from The Barbecue Caterer(both $ 12 each) and Mamachau’s Asian Tacos at $ 3 each. By all accounts the tasting plate from Sneaky Pickle was ‘epic’ according to one fellow diner. Fork on the Road is a winner of an event. Long may it continue.

Fork on the Road gets better the more you attend it. They are always open to suggestions and getting everyone involved so that their event is fun for everyone. Previously there has been a mechanical bull to ride, face painting, a beer garden. It is great for families, for dates, and for friends. It is best described as a whole lot of good food and good times. Definitely worth checking out!

I am a big fan of Fork On The Road events & try to get to as many as I can. In short, all(or most of) the food truck in Adelaide converge in one area for a lunch, dinner or double session so that all of Adelaide’s lucky residents can come and eat… and eat… and eat. The location changes each time but is usually in the CBD or close by & it varies between a Friday/Saturday/Sunday each month. There is so much choice! My tip is to review the poster/Facebook event so you have a bit of a head start & don’t end up wandering around in circles trying to decide what to eat while the lines get longer & longer. Also turn up early — these food truck operators are smart cookies(pun intended) & do their best to gauge how much stock they need but they do run out occasionally & let’s be honest, some of those trucks are pretty teeny. There is usually some entertainment — the most recent one had acoustic music & facepainting & recently Fork On The Road have tied in with another event such as the Fringe, Tour Down Under, etc. So the vibe is always fun & laid back. I have a bit of a competition with myself to see how many trucks I can order from in one Fork. My current record stands at five, but I’m sure it’s not a hard record to beat, given the amount of amazing food on offer. Go on. Try & beat it. I dare you.

Have been here a few times now. Adelaide food trucks all in the same place. It is on all day and evenings. Great food and lots of choices. I still haven’t had pulled pork from here which i am looking forward to one day, but you need to get there early for this.

I never ate from a food truck until I went to Fork on The Road in Whitmore Square! Of course I had no idea what to expect, and was amazed at the congregation of food trucks, people, and music! The weather started out rainy that day but funnily enough the skies cleared for this special occassion. I loved the choices on offer, so hard to decide Latin American, Spanish, Danish, Aussie, American, or Maltese? I loved the little Maltese truck, being part Maltese myself. Their pastizzis were quite good too, but I went for Sneaky Pickle’s pulled pork burger with coleslaw. So delicious. I will have to sneak after them where ever they go :) Food trucks are an awesome concept. I will definitely have to go to the next Fork on the Road. Forkin good!

FOODVANS, WHATTHE??? I’m of the old mentality that food vans are places you visit when you’ve had a long night, and stumble(or are forcefully ejected from the casino) and want a pie from the Balfours Pie cart. With that in mind, what can I say about Fork on the road. WOW! I didn’t realize that Adelaide had some many awesome mobile food vendors, and to get most of them all in one place is pretty awesome. I did get to the Bonython Park event a little late so some of the food vans had sold out of some of there dishes. ie Burger Theory, but you snooze you lose. :) This is a great event and the atmosphere was pretty cool, we’ll definitely be coming earlier to the next event. Good Times :)

Masses of choice, friendly vendors, fresh specialty produce, unique products — how could you not be a fan of food truck vendors? This FOTR was set just opposite Coke in Bonython Park surrounding the old netball courts which meant plenty of room to move around the vendors and no soggy feet! This round we shared arancini balls and vegetarian lasagne, washed down with Swell beer and finished with a hot chilli chocolate drink. We sat on a grassy noll security guarded for drinkers, a perfect spot on lush green grass dry from a gorgeous early spring day. The difficult logistic for vendors is keeping produce for later diners. By the time we arrived many dishes had already been crossed off. I think this is fair enough as trucks can’t keep endless stock, and their aim is to sell out, but just keep this is mind if you want the biggest selection. If this is your priority go for lunch not dinner, or act like an oldie and go for an early bird sitting. If the team return to this location bring the kids! There is a playground down the hill and lunchtime is definately a family friendly scene. And the dog won’t want to be left behind either, just bring a bowl for water!

As a non-city worker I love having the opportunity to sample the wares of the food trucks that roam the city streets! The most recent event held at Bonython park was a real highlight — the last day of winter 2013 and the sun was shinning bright — about 27 degrees! Arriving at around 6pm after the event had been going since around 12noon was fine as the atmosphere was electric — music playing and many a merry face. The wide array of food on offer is great, although some food trucks had run out of particular items by this time which is to be expected. Fantastic and I can’t wait for the next one!

Fork On The Road is by far the most enjoyable food event in Adelaide! The combination of food, drinks and music is just pleasant! What more you can ask for? Food trucks aggregate there to maximise diner’s experience. Get along with your friends the next Fork on the Road event on 12 April!

Get some pork on your fork or beef or chicken or veg. The smells when you walk through the entrance are outstanding the only problem is choosing what to eat. Fantastic event we are so good at this in Adelaide great to see so many peeps ther. Food was fantastic and well priced nice to see family groups early not sure how this would go later as it was getting very busy. Don’t forget to get something sweet great choices and good to see the gluten intolerant catered for. Good job everyone.

I really hope we get a few more Fork In The Road Events!!! My only hope is maybe have one on the weekend(for ppl who dont work or cant get to the city) and maybe think about trying a set up in Glenelg for something different there! Still a fabulous event if you get to go though!

Getting forked and being trucked with some of the finest Food Vans in Adelaide is soon going to become a favourite past time of many. Concept — 20 food vans get together and offer up food over lunch time in Vic Square Implementation — It was more than just a gathering of trucks. It was the vibe of the thing, it was Mabo, it was trucking brilliant. Never have I seen so many high quality food vans in the one location all with line ups of Adelaidians waiting for some grub or a thirst quencher. From Raw Thirst to Burger Theory, La Cantina to Fair Espresso, Four Seeds and TacoCat and boys on bikes Smoothie Revolution and Veggie Velo there was something for everyone at this event and probably why half of Adelaide was in attendance. Tips to make the most of being forked? — Get there early or late(lines were long from 12:30pm-2:30pm) — If you don’t like lines, shut the truck up and wait your turn. Fork is awesome. — Pace yourself and get a tasting of more than one thing — Enjoy lounging about in deck chairs or BYO picnic rug and make an arvo of it. Fork On The Road takes advantage of the following of 1 or 2 famous food vans and spreading the love to many — recognising we can all live and eat as one in Adelaide. Follow their twitter @ForkOnTheRoad and BookFace them to find out details about the next one on the 21st December!
