I like a bit of beach volleyball, and have filled in on a friend’s team a few times. I love the concept of City Beach, and think it’s location is fantastic to allow easy access to city workers. My only issue with these courts is that there is the opportunity for shade, and they haven’t used it! With a massive wall to one side and a fence to the other, some shade cloth would really improve this experience during summer. Sand gets HOT and so do you, especially when you’re throwing yourself around like a fool. Maybe it’s a ploy to make us buy more cold drinks, of which there are plenty. There is some shade for those sitting watching, but not for the players. You can hire out the entire court for parties, be they personal or business, which I think is a great idea, though it’s a bit pricey. Still, a great idea for a 21st…

I love City Beach. Playing beach volleyball here is a great way to end a day spent in the city laboring over study or work without trekking out to Glenelg. In fact, I’d say the courts at City Beach are better than any I’ve played on at any one of Adelaide’s beaches. All ages and skills levels are welcomed to come and play throughout the week and there’s a decent little bar for refreshments and cool drinks once you’ve worked up a sandy sweat. I get jealous of the people playing here each time I pass by City Beach. I just want to run in and play like everyone else.

Awesome little beach volleyball venue in the smack bang middle of the CBD. They hold competitions most nights of the week for all grades. They also cater for group bookings and birthday parties etc. Current music is always playing and the bar is always open serving snacks and some alcoholic drinks. I watch my boyfriend play there on Wednesday nights and it is a great atmosphere to watch. Some of the teams are really good and skillful, while others are quite comedic. It is close by to Rundle Street, so I usually pop down there to get a hot chocolate in winter. And remember to bring a jacket, it always seems to get cold and windy! Parking is a breeze, with an abundance of on street parking and the square nearby, especially at night.
