Zack has built an amazing speak easy style bar that makes you feel like you’ve ducked back in time to a prohibition era. The waist coats, crystal glasses and twisted stainless steel and silver spoons all work to make this a top spot for a cocktail or cheeky beer. A maestro of the common and rare cocktails and a range of spirits you wont find in many bars Zack makes this bar. Sitting at the bar is mandatory for the first drink in my opinion then sneak off to the lux booths for quiet and intimate drinks. Its dark, has very cool décor and edgy clean bathrooms. Bad Dog Bar doesn’t have tvs, doesn’t have pokies and doesn’t have tap beer and for goodness sakes never order an apple-tini :) and that’s the way we like it. Top Tip: order the pickleback — rye bourbon shot followed by some freshly made pickle juice. The SMoking Joint cocktail is also a fav!

Sometimes a nice quiet bar off the main drag is hard to find. Literally If you want to find Baddog, you’ll need a sharp eye to spot the ever-fading ‘Beware of the Dog’ on the ground outside of the entrance. Inside is a cosy bar with booths for added privacy. Great décor. It’s been open for almost a year now and happy to see its still a little Adelaide secret.

Fantastic setup! Just seven weeks old and tucked away on Hyde Street, between Flinders & Pirie St(an area I don’t venture out to much), BadDog is not another pretentious hipster joint. There’s a real genuine feel about this place. Love the leather booths, raw concrete floors, and moody lighting. And the southern blues playing the night I was there created a speakeasy bar vibe, and certainly helps you get in the mood for imbibing some old school cocktails or whisky. Perfect winter drinking den ;-) Live music some Fridays, e.g. this Friday(26 June 2015) along with a food truck to satisfy any food cravings. BadDog is still finding its feed so checkout their fb page for updates. No food available yet, hopefully that will change because if I’m there having a few after work drinks, I’d certainly stay longer if some nibbles were available. Good to see such a unique bar in this side of town. Drop by this place before the word gets out!
