Marmeladen-Haus

Passau has a lot of neat little shops, and we stumbled on one while trying to find our way back to the Viking bus. Stephen immediately recognized the Marmalade shop and said its well known. It was featured on travel shows as things to check out in Passau, and it was also suggested in the «Viking Daily», the ship’s newsletter.
Everything is house made. They have all sorts of preserves, from strawberry, pear, apricot, cherry, and so many more. Customers were encouraged to taste the preserves before buying, and Stephen said the blackberry was really good.
In addition to the shelves and shelves of preserves, they even had honey, chocolate sauce and mustards! One particular jar of preserves caught Stephen’s eye: Glühwein! So, naturally we purchased a jar of that… And perhaps a few others to bring home.
The jellies are in glass, so make sure you have suitcase room, or plan on handcarrying it. We wrapped it well in the carry on suitcase, and it made it home just fine.

Marmeladen-​Haus was recommended to me by a tour guide because many of the jams/​jellies were made locally. Right off I was intrigued because most of the products were locally made. The store employees were friendly and helpful. They tried their best to help translate a few items since my German is rather poor. Most of the jams were available to try as a sample, which made it super hard to decide what to purchase since everything was rather tasty! Due to luggage space, I only could buy one of the jams. I ended up purchasing the Kirsch-​Amaretto jam, which is absolutely delicious!

Beim Spaziergang durch die Passauer Fussgängerzone hab ich das Marmeladen-​Haus entdeckt. Hier gibt’s es ca. 50 verschiedene Marmeladen– und Honigsorten.
Zum Teil auch ausgefallene Geschmacksrichtungen. Ich habe mich für Orange/​Lavendel und Pfirsich/​Thymian entschieden. Das 345 Gramm Glas für je € 5,95.
Nicht billig aber suuuuuuuuuperlecker.
Viele Sorten kann man vor dem kauf auch probieren.
Die Verkäuferin war sehr freundlich.
