Thank goodness we read other reviews before trying to find this place, because we would have been even more confused. There are at least 3 other storefronts or signs for this restaurant so make sure you pick the right one! Here’s a hint: it’s the most unlikely of all the options. Once we finally found it, we ordered some fried meatball appetizers with a delicious sweet chili dipping sauce. Hubby and I both ordered Pad Thai. You are served a generous portion. I would have to say that the flavor was great, but both hubby and I agreed that it was too greasy. It felt like a very heavy dish to eat when it usually doesn’t sit that way in my stomach.

Sehr überraschend, fast hätten wir es nicht gefunden, aber es ist toll eingerichtet, wir wurde sehr nett bedient und das Essen kam zeitnah und schmeckte wirklich gut!

Wie bereits die vorherigen Reviews gesagt haben: der Laden ist mini-​mini-​klein, es passen vllt 12 Leute rein, aber dann darf keiner mit seinem Stuhl nach hinten rücken. Es ist wirklich ein Imbiss — man isst und geht wieder.
Also geht alleine oder höchstens zu zweit hin. Take-​away geht natürlich auch. Im Sommer kann man sich sicherlich irgendwo um die Ecke auf eine Bank setzen, im Winter sieht es in der Gegend eher schlecht aus.
Preislich finde ich es ehrlich gesagt auch übertrieben, jedes Gericht kostet ab 7 Euro aufwärts! Für den Preis kann man woanders richtig schön sitzen und den Abend genießen — aber natürlich nicht authentische Thaiküche bekommen, sondern Pizza, Pasta, Salat… aber mei, ab und zu ist das ok.

Ich hätte schon bei der telefonischen Vorbestellung aufmerken müssen. «Nein, das ist die falsche Nummer. Hier gibts kein Curry. Das ist schon seit 10 Jahren so». Na egal, war sicher ein Missverständnis. Also trotzdem hingefahren und festgestellt, dass das Manam zu einer Suppen Bar geworden ist. Die Karte ist deutlich kleiner geworden und neben den Suppen gibt’s noch Laab und ein paar Fleischgerichte. Trotz der kleinen Karte war nicht alles vorrätig und wie schon am Telefon wurde mir das um die Ohren geprügelt, als ob ich daran Schuld sei. Trotzdem was zum Mitnehmen bestellt. Laab und gegrillter Schweinenacken auf Eiernudeln. Ersteres trocken, zweites wurde verwechselt, was ich aber erst zu Hause gemerkt habe. Jetzt gabs Fleischbällchen. Geschmacklich ok, aber für 8 € deutlich zu wenig.

Ohhhh no! Why??? One doesn’t show up for a few months and Manam changes it’s concept radically.
Food is much worse, the flair and authenticity is gone, the place is, understandably, deserted (before one had to wait in line to get in).
1 star of disappointment. Maybe the food deserves 2 stars.

Ab dem Umzug ist das Lokal nicht so gut wie früher. Trotzdem ist Manam noch eine gute Auswahl von Thailändischen Küche.

Thai is one of my favorite types of food and unlike most people I really don’t like pad tai… I always get a dish called pad kee mao which is a wide noodle. The dish I got at this restaurant was like top ramen. Besides the food, I loved how the location is almost hidden and the restaurant is super nice inside. I just wouldn’t say this is a good Thai restaurant. Sorry

Das beste thailändische Schnellrestaurant in München. Viele sagen: Zu laut, zu eng zu stickig. Ihr habt recht und geht doch bitte wo anders hin, so ist mehr Platz für Leute denen das essen wichtig ist.

Das essen alleine hat 5 Sterne verdient! Sehr gut gewürzt und endlich auch mal was scharfes dabei. Wir waren von Gericht «Nr 22» mit Huhn mehr als begeistert. Die Suppen waren leider am Nachmittag bereits ausverkauft –das hätten wir gerne probiert. Gut gefallen hat uns auch, dass es selbst gemachtes Chiliöl und Chillipulver zum Nachschärfen gibt und das (zumindest Laut Speisekarte) beim Kochen auf MSG verzichtet wird.
Der Preis von 7 – 9 € für ein Gericht ist O.K.
Den Abzug gibt es für die wirklich zu kleine lokation. Außentemperatur von ca. 17 °C im inneren Küche und Platz für ca. 8 – 10 Personen dicht bei dicht bei 30 °C. Es war absolut überfüllt — auch auf der Straße standen Gäste z.T. den Teller einfach in der Hand. Gewöhnungsbedürftig aber die Menge weiß warum.

Von mir gibt´s nur drei Punkte und das will ich natürlich auch begründen.
Vorab: Das Essen ist wirklich gut — sehr gut abgeschmeckt, nicht zu scharf, nicht zu laff gewürzt. Die Portion ist ebenfalls ausreichend groß und kommt mit genügend Reis, so dass man auch satt ist.
Doch nun das große Aber: Wenn man die Karte nicht sofort auf Anhieb versteht, wird man von der «netten» Dame doch recht barsch zurechtgewiesen. Nicht jeder erkennt vielleicht das Konzept, dass man einige Gerichte wahlweise mit Fleisch, vegetarisch oder Meeresfrüchten erhalten kann — auch wenn´s auf der Rückseite drauf steht. Hinzu kommt, dass acht Euro auch schon recht selbstbewusst ist. Denn man sitzt auf abgewetzten Hockern an sehr kleinen Tischen auf denen man erkennen kann, dass schon etliche Personen vor einem dort gegessen haben. An Stelle von Servietten gibt es Kosmetiktücher aus einer Pappschachtel. Das ist vielleicht alles so gewollt, aber in der Gegend kann man für denselben Preis in ähnlicher Qualität besser sitzen und das Essen genießen.
Für den schnellen Mittagstisch draußen ok, drinnen hat es mich nicht überzeugt.

Ein wahrer Street-​Thai inmitten der Münchner-​Innenstadt. Immer voll, von außen wie ein Loch-​aussehend, leicht unfreundlicher Service und HERVORRAGENDES ESSEN — ein wahrer Thai eben.
War endlich mal auf Empfehlung von Freunden hier und das Essen war echt anders als der 0815 Thai — freue mich schon auf die nächsten Ausflüge. Wird definitiv eines meiner Stamm-​Thais.

Ich war schon zweimal mit meinem Partner zum Mittagessen im sehr gut besuchten Manam und konnte glücklichweise jedesmal recht zügig einen Der wenigen Tische ergattern.
Das Essen war beide male sehr gut, schön scharf und wirkt glücklicherweise authentisch und nicht so eingedeutscht wie die meisten anderen Restaurants dieser Richtung.

Top Essen, wirklich echt Thai. Schärfe passt auch prima. Viele Gerichte und nicht nur die Standard Asia– Sachen. Nur leider fehlt etwas die thailändische Freundlichkeit fehlt etwas.

Hatte mich nach den vielen sehr positiven Kommentaren und den ewigen Schlangen vor dem Laden eigentlich sehr auf das Essen gefreut.
Hatte telefonisch bestellt und mir wurde gesagt, dass es 25min dauern wird. Letzten Endes hat es dann 40min gedauert — was an sich nicht so schlimm gewesen wäre, wenn das Essen den Erwartungen entsprochen hätte.
Beim bestellten Massaman Curry hat der Reis gefehlt (obwohl eigentlich inklusive) und das Pad Thai bestand im Grunde nur aus trockenen (!) Nudeln, ein bisschen Ei und ein bisschen Fleisch. Alles in allem ein absoluter Griff ins Klo und das obwohl Pad Thai mMn zu den absoluten Standard-​Gerichten in Thai-​Restaurants gehört.
Vielleicht hatten die Köche nur einen schlechten Tag, aber nach dieser extrem großen Enttäuschung hab ich nicht das Gefühl nochmal dort essen zu müssen.

Ich versteh den Hype um das Manam nicht.
Das wirklich sehr authentisch schmeckende thailändisches Essen ist gut, aber ehrlich gesagt jede von mir besuchte Garküche am Straßenrand in Thailand selbst war sauberer und ordentlicher als das «Loch» dort in der Rosenheimer Straße.
Nachdem Verzehr vor Ort wegen engster und geringer Bestuhlung eh kaum enstapnnt möglich ist, würde ich wenn überhaupt nur etwas zum Mitnehmen bestellen.
Da auch die Preise deutlich angezogen haben und aufgrund des schlechten hygienischen Eindrucks will ich persönlich dort nichts mehr essen. Soo einzigartig ist der Laden nun auch nicht, nur weil es mal aus den München-​typischen Buden heraussticht (für mich wie gesagt in negativer Hinsicht).
Die Hipster werden sich freuen und ihr **Streetfood** mit runter an die Isar nehmen, um es auf den gemütlichen Kiesbänken zu verzehren.

Yes! The food was delicious, we had the #14 Khao Pad and #15 Pad Sie Oiw. The sauces can be spicy and the little red pepper creep up on you and can make you tear up. The place is tiny, luckily we caught it during a slow time. Food came out really quickly and was cooked within eye sight. Wish they served beer and had wifi, but I wont ding them for that. Price is affordable. Nice little joint, would make for amazing hangover food or late night after a few Pilseners, too bad they close at 9.

All the hype on Unilocal and from friends got me checking out Manam. Regardless of eating in or taking out, one has to order on line. As expected on a Saturday prime-​time evening, the line was long. If the timing is right, one might just get lucky to score a table inside this TINY (yes, this needs to be emphasized) eatery.
I’m all for supporting local businesses. The ladies cooking in the even tinier kitchen were working hard and cooking fast, so I didn’t mind the 30-​minute wait although I have to say it was slightly chaotic. Where should I wait? Should I pay now or later? Will the lady see me? Needless to say, the ladies did not have time to do much with the customers other than take the order, take the money, and give the order when ready.
Unfortunately, I cannot give them that much kudos. I ordered a vegetarian Massamun curry and a papaya salad with crayfish to go. The lady at the counter packed my order so carelessly that the heavier rice and the salad crushed the packaging of the curry, ending up with half of my curry sauce in the plastic bag when I arrived home by bike. But the biggest disappointment was the papaya salad. I expected little pieces of crayfish, but I didn’t expect little pieces of crayfish still in their shells. The pieces were raw, and there were hardly any meat inside these pieces. Basically, I couldn’t eat any of the pieces. The papaya salad (be warned, it is SPICY! I drank 3 glasses of water and some milk to get through this dish) was also disappointing and overly fishy, and I normally like my fish sauce. On a good note, the Massamun curry was tasty and set at the right spice level for me.
Lessons learned or tips to give: Go at a less busy time, so you get some more care with the preparation of your order. Avoid the papaya salad (especially the one with the crayfish) unless you love fish sauce so much that you can swim in it.

Leider geht meine Meinung nicht nach dem Mainstream!
Nach all den vielen Bewertungen für diesen Ort, hat mich letzte Woche meine Neugier gepackt. Da das Wetter ideal für einen Spaziergang war und wir uns in der Gegend befanden, entschieden wir uns für einen kleinen Snack.
Erstmal mußten wir eine Weile warten bis wir unser Essen bestellen konnten. Ich kann das verstehen wenn viel los ist und man hektisch wird, aber gleich pampig zu reagieren, wenn Fragen zu den Gerichten gestellt werden, empfand ich als unangebracht.
Der Snack war gut wie ich es von der thailändischen Küche gewohnt bin. Leider ist der Laden wahnsinnig klein sodass es nur wenige Sitzplätze gibt; eng an eng.
Besser ist es bei gutem Wetter draußen zu sitzen, damit die Klamotten nach dem Besuch nicht so riechen.
Meiner Meinung nach ist es ein guter Imbiss zum Mitnehmen. Mehr nicht!

So this place is a hole in the wall. Enough seating for maybe 30 max inside and out, and that would be crammed so that’s why they get 4 stars. Now the food is 5 star hands down. The kitchen is so cramped. Having been to Thailand thought this is what reminded me of some of the best street food in Bangkok. Be careful thought if you ask for Thai hot! Can’t go wrong here for authentic Thai food… Highly recommend!

Si de la comida se trata tengo que decir que es muy buena y sabrosa, yo pedí beef pad see ew y mi pareja ordenó chicken pad thai, muyyyy sabrosas sobre todo el pad thai creo que es el mejor que he probado, solo 4 estrellas por que el lugar es muy muy pequeño para toda la gente que quiere comer ahí, además hay bastante ruido y olor a comida por lo que nosotros comimos afuera pero hacia frío, pero de todas maneras volvería por que estaba muy ricooo!

Wer Straßenküchenflair Thaistyle sucht in München, der ist hier richtig. Er findet sie inklusive der Köstlichkeit, die der geneigte Bangkok Fan und Phuket-​Wir-​Sprechen-​Deutsch Verweigerer sogar in Phuket nach langer Suche finden kann.
Flott, eng, zsamgnagelt, authentisch, scharf wie scharf. Lecker wie lecker. Nahrung als Basisausdruck von Gastlichkeit.
Ab sofort steht das Manam bei mir auf der weekly-​must-​go-​Liste.

Die perfekte Illusion! Hier passt einfach alles! Das leicht schäbige Interieur, die Mischung aus Küche und Tempel einschließlich Bhumibol Kult, der Fettgeruch des Woks, die hantige Art des Personals und nicht zu vergessen eine nahezu unverfälschte Küche mit den richtigen Zutaten am Tisch… wären da nicht die derzeit 40 °C Temperaturunterschied und der fehlende Smog.
Unbedingt noch besorgen: Chang, Singha oder beerlao

Absoluter Hammer. War grade mal wieder in Thailand und hier schmeckt es einfach absolut authentisch! Dazu die Atmosphäre, alles ein bisschen ranzig und klein, genau so muss ein solcher Imbiss aussehen!!! Bin total begeistert.

Fantastisch! Der bisher beste Thailänder den ich bisher in München kennen gelernt habe. Der Laden ist an sich kein Restaurant, sondern eher ein Imbiss bei dem man das Essen meistens mit nimmt. Es werden zwar auch ein paar wenige Sitzplätze, sowohl draußen als auch drinnen, angeboten, bei diesen einen Platz zu bekommen ist jedoch so gut wie unmöglich. Der Laden ist immer randvoll und die Warteschlange reicht bis auf die Straße. Das aus gutem Grund: es schmeckt hier einfach fantastisch! Es ist alles perfekt abgeschmeckt und der Schärfegrad ist genau richtig. Mein Tipp: Massaman Curry und ein Papaya Salat vorneweg.
Leider riecht die Kleidung nach einem Besuch ziemlich nach deren Küche, was wohl auch Großteils dem Platzmangel geschuldet ist. Ruft man sich jedoch noch einmal diesen hervorragendenden Geschmack ins Gedächtnis, ist der Geruch ganz schnell wieder vergessen.

Absolutely tiny hole in the wall with just a handful of people working here, but they crank out some of the best Thai food I’ve had (have tried a couple of other places in Munich while visiting family and this one is still the best).
Service is gruff but quick and the food is just simply good. I ordered the Pad Kee Mao and, given the fact that I was in Germany, did not expect it to be as spicy as it was. It was fantastic! Everyone else enjoyed their dishes, as well, but I was mesmerized by mine. The space is absolutely small and cramped, but it’s okay because it means that you can smell every wonderful dish being cooked essentially just a few feet away from you. There was a perpetual wait the entire time we were eating.
Can’t wait to visit again!

This place gets five stars for the food! it is a small unpretentious restaurant/​take out, superb fresh food and very decent prices.
The staff is friendly enough, the only con is that it can be a bit claustrophobic sometimes, but it is a small price to pay for very good food.

Der wohl beste Thailänder in München und Umgebung, dessen hervorragendes Essen auch die Schwächen des Ladens und im Service verblassen lässt.
Ich bin ein großer Fan der Thailändischen Küche, besonders das Massaman hat es mir seit einem Urlaub auf Koh Samui angetan. Seit dem Urlaub habe ich nirgendwo etwas vergleichbares wie in Thailand bekommen. Selbst für über 25 €.
Bis an den Tag als ich das Manam gefunden habe. Das Curry ist perfekt. Top gewürzt, leichte schärfe, perfekt abgeschmeckt. Unbedingt probieren.
Auch die Nudeln sind sehr gut, obwohl ich kein Asia-​Nudel Fan bin ich davon auch sehr positiv überrascht.
Zu empfehlen ist des weiteren der Papayasalat
Nun zu den Schwächen: der Laden ist nur 20qm groß und der Service ist furchtbar.
Aber bei dem Essen ist das egal.
Und wer sich für ein Curry für 8 € über den Preis beschwert, soll doch bitte zum All-​You-​Can-​Eat für 5 € sonstwo hingehen und sich vollstopfen.

Manam… proof you should NEVER judge a book by it’s cover. I honeslty never really noticed it because it is tucked conveniently next to one of those cheesy casino’s that seem to ooze sketchiness. However, ignore that! Just go in, grab a menu, and get ready for your taste buds to be blown.
Everything on the menu sounded great, so I basically just closed my eyes and pointed to something. Lucky for me it landed on item number 10, aka the Pad Nor Mai (and I chose chicken to go with it). If you like spicy, then you’ll be happy to know that this dish comes with chili peppers already chopped in it. However, if you want your eyes to bleed, you can always add even more peppers :) This dish was perfect… I literally wouldn’t change a thing.
The guy I was with had the number 4, aka the Gaeng Massaman with tofu and man was that spicy too! Talk about flavor explosion in my mouth! I am so happy he took me here. I literally have 0 desire to go to one of the nicer looking Thai restaurants in Munich, because this hole-​in-​the-​wall works just fine for me :) Seriously, get your tail in here right now!!!
p.s-I only dock a star because, like Mark. B. states below, it is hot as hell in here. Okay, yes I understand the kitchen is literally an arms length away, but can they at least put a fan in here?! Next time I’ll probably just grab some food to go :)

As close to real Thai as possible in Munich. If I was to nitpick, I’d say the Pad Thai is great but the curries are slightly too salty.
Service, ambience, total experience is very Thai: not pleasant by any means but the food speaks for itself. The place really gets busy around meal times.

My favourite Thai inTown!
As said in the previous reviews it’s very tiny, warm, smelly (food odours of course) and the staff could be more friendly (I kinda understand as it’s so crowded and probably stressful, no time to deal with pickiness)…but the food is just as in Thailand. And it tastes like a spicy paradise.
The spiciness is on the right level, like it would be over there.
So if you are not used to it… it’s gonna burnnn! But again, it’s delicious and they use the right ingredients, not like most of the Thai Restaurants in Munich.
Just believe the spiciness indicator on the menu: one pepper is already very hot!
My advice is to arrive early, if you go there for lunch, or late, because it’s just that good! Expect a whole lot of people wanting to go there.
You can take the pad thai with pork or chicken if you are afraid of spices. It’s one of the best I ever had.
There is also the Khao man gai, which is chicken on top of garlic boiled rice and an awesome ginger chilli sauce that you pour on top; served on the side with a celery soup.
For the spicy bit: I really like the dish with the pine apple though, number 12 on the menu.

It’s crowded, it’s hot inside & cold outside, it’s sticky and staff could be friendlier. But hey the food is the best Thai food in town.
So if you want to enjoy it it’s best to take away. Buy count in 20−30mins waiting time as there are many people having the same idea. Did I mention that the food is great? Ohh yes it is.

Authentischer Thai Imbiss direkt an der Rosenheimer Strasse. Ich bin jedesmal beeindruckt, wie 3 Köche in so einer Miniküche so viele Gerichte zaubern können! Das Manam ist immer brechend voll! Es gibt 3 kleine Tische draussen und man kann sich glücklich schätzen einen Platz zu ergattern.
Meine Favoriten sind das Nudelgerichten Pad Khi Mao (Gebratene Reisnudeln in Chili-​Knoblaunch mit thail. Bohnen und thail. Auberginen), an Suppen die Tom Kha (Zitronengrassuppe mit Kokosnussmilch) und auch das Khao Na Ped (Entenfleisch auf Reis nach Manam-​Art) ist hervorragend! Man muss anmerken dass ‘scharf/​sehr scharf’ auch genau das bedeutet!!! Der Geschmack ist original Thai — gibt hier keine abgeschwächte Touristenversion!
Nachteil ist die lange Schlange wenn man es eilig hat — aber der Leckerbissen am Ende ist eine echte Belohnung! Preise auch absolut top!

Best Thai food in town! If you are searching for good Thai you should absolutely try Manam. It is very fool, but is worth it

Der Laden ist immer gerammelt voll und wir sind schon oft daran vorbei gegangen und haben uns gedacht: Das müssen wir mal ausprobieren. Problem: 21 Uhr ist Schluss.
Endlich haben wir es jetzt mal geschafft, vor 21 Uhr hier zu sein. Um genau zu sein, um 20.30 h. Aber das war dem Personal offenbar schon entschieden zu spät. Mit dem Hinweis «In 2 Minuten aussuchen!», drückte man mir die Karte in die Hand. Gehetzt entschieden wir uns für die Klassiker: Rotes Curry, Pad Thai und Papaya Salat — immer gut für einen ersten Eindruck. Wir setzten uns nach draußen und es dauerte ziemlich lange. Nach 20 Minuten kam eine Mitarbeiterin raus, drückte mir 6 Euro in die Hand «Kein Papayasalat mehr». Aha, ok.
Noch einmal 15 Minuten später kam das Essen, allerdings nicht auf Tellern, nein nein. Ohne zu fragen oder Bescheid zu sagen, war es zum Mitnehmen verpackt worden. Eine unmissverständliche Ansage, würde ich das nennen. Wir haben es dann ausgepackt und aus den Alu-​Schalen gegessen. Willkommen fühlten wir uns da allerdings endgültig nicht mehr. Der Umgang mit dem Gast ist hier wirklich sehr bedenklich.
Zum Essen: Okay. Aber mehr nicht. Nicht überragend. Das Curry war sehr fettig und sehr scharf. Das Pad Thai sehr fettig und relativ geschmacklos.
Ich hoffe wirklich, es findet sich in München noch etwas Besseres.

Food was good but entirely overshadowed by the terrible atmosphere. The entire restaurant is the size of a small bedroom and even smaller when omitting the kitchen (which emits incredible heat, noise, and smoke). The service was awful and aggressively angry despite the very necessary need to compensate for the size and temperature of the room. I was pushed and shoved several times during my meal by both the waitress and other guests (though the guests at least apologized). By the end of the meal I felt like I had spent 18 € to eat in hell, as the temperature continued to rise, the walls closed in, and the waitress increasingly treated me like I had murdered her entire family. I hear it’s the best Thai in town but don’t consider for a sit-​down meal and buckle up if you’re going for takeout because the staff was equally as terrible to those poor people as well.

Das Essen war gut, aber vollständig von der schrecklichen Atmosphäre überschattet. Das gesamte Restaurant ist die Größe von einem kleinen Schlafzimmer und sogar kleiner, wenn das Weglassen der Küche (die unglaubliche Hitze, Lärm und Rauch abgibt). Der Service war schrecklich wütend und aggressiv, trotz der Notwendigkeit, sehr notwendig für die Größe und Temperatur des Raumes zu kompensieren. Ich war mehrmals in mein Essen sowohl von der Kellnerin und andere Gäste (obwohl die Gäste zumindest entschuldigt) gedrückt und geschoben. Bis zum Ende der Mahlzeit, die ich fühlte mich wie ich war 18 € ausgegeben, um in der Hölle zu essen, wenn die Temperatur weiter an, schloss die Wände, und die Kellnerin mich immer behandelt, als hätte ich ihre gesamte Familie ermordet. Ich habe gehört, es ist der beste Thai in der Stadt, aber nicht für ein Sit-​down-​Menü prüfen und anschnallen, wenn Sie zum Mitnehmen gehst, weil das Personal war genauso schrecklich, die armen Menschen auch.

Ein kleiner Laden, sehr beliebt, Platz bekommt man keine und sie nehmen keine Reservierungen.
Der Punkt ist aber auch das Essen und das ist es total Wert, richtig gut, guter Preis und die richtige Schärfe.
Das Essen kam obwohl der Laden voll war und draußen eine Schlange war schnell.
Im Sommer ist die Isar gleich um die Ecke, an die man das Essen mit nehmen kann.

I decided to return after I had sworn to never come back again. The Thai lady who owned the place was incredibly arrogant, and whenever I asked for less spicy food for my friends, she would bark back a «No! Cannot cook not spicy! Not tasty!» And make it extra spicy in spite, to a degree where even myself could not eat it.
Now the service has not exactly improved, the food is barely edible.

You know those amazing stories your free-​spirited world traveler friend tells you about his time backpacking through southeast Asia, when ducking from the bedlam of a market into a back alley with 25 cents landed him the most delicious meal of his young life, served with the heat of hell and chopsticks?
Remember the envy you felt as he described sweating in solidarity with the other famished patrons as they feasted on chilis and vegetables and meats and seafoods, slurped on soups, and cooled themselves with beverages grabbed straight from the refrigerator, then stacked the empty dishware like rice cakes to save space in their miniature surroundings?
Remember the hunger? The desire? The lust for life that only a flavourful dish can incite, but also can it alone quench?
That place exists. Here. In Munich. It’s called Manam. There are four tiny tables that miraculously (literally, it’s a miracle) provide enough eating space for 16 people. In the same room is the kitchen. Ahhhhh, no secrets here — just honest to goodness Thai food. You’ll leave with smiles and a lingering scent on your jacket for souvenirs. The scent will fade, but that memory…

This is another place we sometimes go to for lunch at work. As other reviewers have pointed out, it’s tiny and a lot of their business is take out. It’s really good though and reasonably fast (they somehow squeeze three cooks into their tiny kitchen).
Some dishes are unusually hot, like the #22. Last time I was there I played it very safe and had the Pad Thai (#16) with chicken, and it was a good Pad Thai. Another colleague went for sticky rice with beef, not sure what the number is, and he was very happy with his choice (but bring a pair of latex gloves as you will get oily as you try to maneouver the sticky rice out of the plastic bag it was cooked in). Prices are reasonable, my Pad Thai was 7 € and other dishes 7 — 9 €. Not the strongest four stars ever but I’ll stick with it, especially considering the price. Worth a visit (S-​Bahn to Rosenheimer Platz, East exit, south side of the street) if you’re in the general area.

Although with only room for 10 very friendly people in it’s tiny (read: closet-​sized) dining area, Manam is probably the best and most authentic Thai I’ve found in Munich yet.
Located on a famous strip of Asian stores and restaurants off of Rosenheimerplatz, it’s easy to miss this pint size place. But as you double back and look in on the little fishbowl of happily munching people, you’ve found the right place.
We started with some tasty ginger tea and then moved on to #25, some sort of purple-​hued seafood soup, stocked with fishes, and #15, the standard and tasty Pad See Eiw. Simple, high-​quality and very tasty.
Even if we no longer have Gary Coleman, Manam is still up and popping, so squeeze in and enjoy.
