Hotel Prinzregent am Friedensengel

I really liked this hotel — we were back in Munich for a short stay, and this place is very cool, very typical Bavarian (an antidote to the monotony of big hotel chains) and super comfortable.
It combines great location (outside of city center but very easy access to everything) and really kind, friendly service (especially Verena at check in and Tony the bar manager). The breakfast (included) was fantastic. I don’t think there’s a restaurant (for other meals) but there are tons of good places to try, just a few minutes walking. Like everywhere else in Germany, you have to pay for wifi — i chose not to so can’t comment on the speed. It was unseasonably hot weather so we were happy for the air conditioning!

Decent hotel for Munich. The hotel staff is very nice and speak English very well. You must pay for WiFi, it is not free!!! Which is typical for Germany. I stayed for a few days and recommend asking for a quiet room as the normal rooms face the open road. Nice hotel for a visit to Munich or to attend a messe /​trade show.

I was in Munich for business, so this is from an older travel report. It’s a good choice for the business traveler as it is clean, comfortable, and has quick and easy access for work to our design center and to central Munich. If you’re here late September or October for October-​beer-​fest, then this is subway crawling distance. I remember that it was not too far away from a jog to and inside English Garden along the Isar River, nor was this far from the Bavarian National Museum. Overall stay was good.

In der Anfangsphase einer Beziehung war ich ab und zu gezwungen, mit meinem neuen Freund nach einem Drink oder einem Abendessen ein Hotel aufzusuchen, er war nicht aus München. Nach einigem hin und her entschieden wir uns eines Abends, im Hotel Prinzregent abzusteigen, nachdem wir in Schwabing in einer Bar kampiert hatten. Leider erlebte ich vom Check-​In-​Prozess nicht viel mit, ich war zu fasziniert von der Gestaltung der Lobby in der Art eines alpenländischen Bauernhauses mit teilweise tiefer Decke, monströsem Leuchter mit Geweihverzierung oder ähnlichem über einem Tisch mit Wasserkaraffe und einem Korb voller Äpfel.
Es hatte alles seinen Charme, war auch nicht zu teuer. Das Zimmer war wunderschön, da asymmetrisch: Trapezförmig lief es auf der einen Seite ein bisschen enger zu, das Bett stand im breiten Teil des Raumes mit Blick durch das zwar recht schmale, aber helle Fenster mit schönem Blick über die Stadt. Alles war sauber, groß und hell. Auf das Frühstück verzichteten wir aus Katergründen, ließen aber noch ein paar Äpfel mitgehen.
