Cafe Edelheiss

This is my favorite bar in Munich. You’ll find a friendly bartender in this cute/​cozy place.
They have 2 for 1 Thursdays — but check with the bartender /​locals.
The decorations for Oktoberfest were fantastic!
We spent the majority of our evening free time here, and met some great new friends.
To the guy who posted that it’s an unfriendly atmosphere — sorry you feel this way. Maybe you should go up and say hello to people instead of being a creeper in the corner.

I went to this bar with my partner because of our friends wanted to show us some local gay bars and had some beers together.
As what I heard, this is one of the oldest gay bars in Munich. The bar itself isn’t really big, it got a really 80−90^th disco style, I found it somehow cool. Music direction also, it kind of great place if you like old classic songs or simply just in the mood for it. Although they don’t have a dance floor, I sure most people can manage to make one themselves. Of course, we danced a bit as well.
Café Edelheiss is a bar for bears, but most of the people are welcome here. I did see other kind of people here. That’s real cool, I remember that was one time when I was in Prague, the Bear bar there didn’t let us in, just because my friends and I weren’t «bear» enough. The drinks here were quite alright.
The people here generally really friendly, just say hi if you want to, they won’t bite… or will they. Well, who knows. But either way, just enjoy yourself. Because of its location, if you weren’t having fun, then just go around this place. There are some other cool gay bars around as well.

Bar had a comfortable, tranquil atmosphere. It wasn’t at all pretentious. The bartender/​owner was very amiable and speaks perfect English. He travels for about 4 weeks a year and has been all over the US. It was fun to hear about his travels.

Unfriendly staff/​atmosphere.

Ich wunderte mich immer, gerade im Sommer bildet sich hier vor der Kneipe oft am WE eine riesige Traube an Menschen die in geselliger Runde hier ihr Bierchen trinken. Also gaben wir uns einen Ruck und vesuchten uns hier an die Bar durchzukämpfen, was bei dem ganzen Gedrängle nicht so einfach war.
Na ja, nach gut 10 Minuten hatten wir dann auch unseren Plastikbecher mit Bier und gesellten uns unter die kleinen Grüppchen welche sich hier gebildet hatten. Da wir doch schon recht kommunikativ sind, kamen wir auch ziemlich flott ins Gespräch mit einigen Jungs, die meinten dass dies hier draussen eigentlich nur im Sommer an einigen Wochenenden oder zu Straßenfesten und CSD so ablaufen würde und ansonsten sich das Spektakel nur Innen abspielt.
Egal, wir fanden es zumindest an diesem Abend echt nett und gesellig.

Meistens voll, verraucht und authentisch. Das Edelheiss, am Beginn der Party-​Meile Müllerstraße ist eine Gaybar im rustikalen Ambiente.
Mit witzigen Gags und Themenabenden bekommt einer hier mal ein Bierchen umsonst.
Zum Beispiel zum Bart-​Abend der jeden Donnerstag im Edelheiss stattfindet, darf jeder Bartträger das zweite Glas Bier umsonst trinken.
Jetzt müsste man sich nur noch was für Frauen ausdenken;-) Mithin eine der Kneipen die am längsten geöffnet hat in Muc.

Sympathisch unpretentiös. Je voller, desto verräucherter, darum ein Stern Abzug.
