Das Lokal ist groß und ansprechend eingerichtet.
Das Preisniveau ist in Ordnung (Vorspeisennachos 7 – 9 Euro, Spare Ribs als Hauptgang 14.50, etc.).
Das Essen ist qualitativ ok, dem Preis angemessen, aber auch nicht der super burner. Als ich heute da war, war der Service langsam und wenig aufmerksam. Ich saß durchaus eine Viertelstunde mit leerem Getränk da… Auch beim zahlen musste ich warten. Das war nicht schön, v.a. weil auch wenig los war. Das kann man durchaus besser machen.
Würde ich wiederkommen? Vermutlich eher nicht.

Decent Mexican food in the middle of Germany. Great location for kids. They have an indoor playground for the kids to play while you wait for food. Great staff great service. Definitely recommend. A couple of reviews on here with WAY TOO HIGH standards. Disregard them. You won’t be disappointed.

If you don’t go in expecting too much (or not a Mexican food snob) then this place will suffice. The food won’t blow you away but it was better than I expected considering the first Mexican restaurant I tried was Hacienda which was terrible (canned food). The service here was pretty good, too.

I so much wanted to enjoy this Mexican fix I desperately needed, as it’s been almost three months since I left Southern CA.
Atmosphere was nice. Almost Southern CA like décor with wide open windows, clean, and simple yet classy decorations and dining tables. Employees were friendly and spoke fluent English, which is the only reason I gave it one star, as if I could, I would give it no stars. Then came the food.
Summer special menu had Shrimp Ceviche! Had to have one and I chose three item combo with chile relleno, mini beef burrito and spicy chicken flautas.
Shrimp ceviche set a horrid tone for the rest of the items to follow… it was in a small margarita glass and was made with miniature 150 – 200 per lb shrimp. ok, but it looked good with peppers, tomato cilantro etc… took a bite from the table spoon they provided next to scattered broken crackers and WTF?! WHO MAKES CEVICHE WITH COOKED SHRIMP? Since the shrimps were so tiny, I was deceived that maybe the lime juice cooked it fast, but he’ll no! They used cooked, and overly cooked shrimp and put it on the menu as «ceviche». There’s no excuse and no justification for doing what they did. And at almost 7 euros, it was a pure rip off.
Then the rest of the plate came with partially dried up uncooked rice, tasteless beans mushy runny burrito and chile relleno which looked like some animal’s crap, as it didn’t resemble pepper what so ever, as it was a blob of fried thing. Spicy chicken flautas was the only acceptable piece of food on the plate.
All this terror for almost 20 euros. I have to say, my expectation wasn’t high, but this I could’ve handled maybe if I was butt drunk, or if the ceviche was how it was supposed to be, the rest of the plate may have been tolerated… but when you were fooled at the first impression, there’s no turning back no matter how much I try to justify my horrid experience. It is a place where people go to drink, not eat Mexican, as it is not Mexican.

My husband and I are from Texas and recently moved to Germany. We were very happy to find a Mexican restaurant here and decided to try Catina Mexicana. However, we knew it would be hard to compare with our favorite Texas restaurants. My husband ordered chicken fajitas; I had a combination plate with a crispy taco, cheese enchilada, bean burrito. Overall, the food is okay. I can’t recommend the queso, chips and salsa (which are not free). The chips and tortillas are not made fresh and actually tasted stale. The service is great with very friendly, English-​speaking wait staff.

If you are looking for Mexican food in Germany, this is a good fix. Their food is as close to authentic as you’ll find in Europe. Try their chimichanga with shredded beef. Their new creation called «Chicken Tinga» is excellent. It is moist chicken made in chipotle and adobo sauce. It is served in a variety of ways.

Großer Laden, Kinderecke vorhanden. Duft der Menschen jedoch teilweise ungewaschen und schweißig, nichts für empfindliche Nasen wie meine.
Das Essen ist frisch und vorzüglich, trotz großer Portionen wird beste Qualität aufgetischt. Dies gleicht den Minuspunkt von oben wieder aus.
Auch der Service kann sich sehen lassen. Kompetent und freundlich. Es gibt hier nichts zu meckern!
Bei einem frischeren, angenehmeren Allgemeinduft im Lokal, hätte ich locker 5 Sterne gegeben.
Das Preis-​/​Leistungsverhältnis ist top!!!

Delicious Mexican food and a gem in the area. It is always very busy so parking is an issue. They have a wonderful kids corner where the kids can play while they wait for food. The staff is always very kind and patient. Many times though we have wanted to go here and they were just so busy we end up somewhere else. I think it is because of the daily specials that draw people in by the masses. Definitely a place to frequent in the Ktown area!

Wir — eine Gruppe von 10 Personen (normalerweise 11 Personen, deswegen Reservierung eines Tisches für 11 Personen) — besuchten das Restaurant Cantina Mexicana zum gemühtlichen Beisammensein unter guten Freunden. Trotz der Reservierung bekamen wir statt eines Tisches für 11 Personen, nur einen Tisch für 8 Personen. Das geht überhaupt nicht!!! Wenn man schon reserviert, sollte diese Reservierung auch eingehalten werden. Da das Restaurant bis auf wenige Plätze «ausgebucht» war, mussten wir uns mit 10 Personen an einen Tisch für 8 setzen — zum Glück hatte Person Nr. 11 abgesagt, sonst wäre es extrem eng geworden. Platz hatte man zum Essen und Bewegen nicht viel. Super ist das «so-​viel-​man-​möchte-​eistee-​trinken» für gerade einmal 2,10 EUR. So später es aber wurde, um so weniger wurde man zum weiteren Nachfüllen gefragt. Man musste dann doch schon nachfragen und anschließend einige Zeit (ca. 5 – 7 Minuten) warten.
Bedienung
Die Bedienung (en) war (en) freundlich und hatte (n) ein sauberes, äußeres Erscheinungsbild. Der Service ware leider nicht zuvorkommend. Wie bereits beschrieben, hatten wir einen Tisch für 8 Personen, statt 11 Personen. Die Teller für die Vorspeise (Nachos) waren nur für 8 Personen angerichtet. Erst nach Aufforderung erhielt man noch weitere Vorspeiseteller. Die Sonderwünsche zum Essen (z.B. keine Bohnen oder Pommes statt Reis) wurden erfüllt, aber eine Hauptspeise wurde falsch serviert.
Das Essen
Die Vorspiese (Nachos mit Käse überbacken und Hackfleisch) war sehr lecker und machte schon Hunger auf die Hauptspeise. Die Hauptspeise (z.B. California Burrito, ca. 8 EUR) war ebefalls lecker. Die Speisekarte ist übersichtlich und sowohl in Deutsch als auch in Englisch. Man brauch aber schon einige ZEit, um einen Überblick über die unterschiedlichen Gerichte und Menüs einen Überblick zu erhalten.
Das Ambiente
Das Restaurant hat mehrer Räume die nicht direkt voneinander abgetrennt sind. Das Ambiente ist typisch mexikanisch. Bereits am Eingang wird man von einem Mexikaner (Statur) begrüßt. Im Eingangsbereich und an der Kasse steht eine Vielzahl von unterschiedlichen Alkoholika, Wiskeys, Schnäps und Sonstiges. Wenn das Restaurant, wie an diesem Abend, bis auf den letzten Platz belegt ist, gibt es schon einen starken Lärmpegel. Der Lärmpegel sinkt aber zum Abend hin (gegen 21 Uhr) ab und man hört dann auch schon die leise Hintergrundmusik, welche zuvor garnicht wahrgenommen wurde. Das Restaurant liegt im «amerikanischen» Teil von Kaiserslautern. Es ist schnell über die Autobahn (A6) erreichbar und leicht zu finden. Parkplätze sind vor dem Restaurant vorhanden, aber selbst unter der Woche (z.B. Dienstagabend, ab 19.30 Uhr) restlos überfüllt.
Sauberkeit
Das Restaurant erweckt einen sauberen Eindruck. Wir hatten nun nicht das Gefphl, dass Mäuse und Ratten durch die Gästeräume und Küche rennen. Es gab keine Tischdecken. Dafür aber je Tisch eine Kerze.

First let me say, I have had bad Mexican food, this place takes the blue ribbon for that category. If you have been to any authentic Mexican restaurant in the southwest, you’ll walk away from this place in disbelief and head shaking, fist pounding and saying WTF was that? My expectation were low going to a Mexican restaurant in Germany as it was, but you should not have to endure the tasteless mush that was given to us. Although, the margarita was awesome! This helped choke down the food!
I don’t like dwelling on the negative, so here are the positive notes: The service was outstanding and the staff speaks German and English. Our German is very good, so need for English speaking staff. The drinks were very tasty and parking is convenient and plentlyful.
BTW, they offered a discount for later, but we will never go back!

For a Mexican place in Germany this was pretty darn good. We split the fajitas for 2 and they were just a sizzling skillet of deliciousness. The large margarita will knock your socks off. The atmosphere is cool and festive and it’s definitely a good place to get together with friends for a few drinks and tacos.

Tex-​Mex is my favorite food and this place is as good as you can hope for.
The entire place is American friendly, the staff speak both German and English, the menus have the menu in German on the left page and the menu in English on the right, they accept US dollar$ at the register, and even their website has American Flag to click and it switch over to English.
The food is great, lunchtime is my least favorite time to go there because there can be a lot of kids. Dinner is nice and Dinner and drinks is a blast. I’ve been there and out of nowhere a mariachi band showed up.
I usually split the taco stuffer plate (8 tacos) with my daughter and it runs around 10 Euro.
Make sure you get a picture with the Drunk Bandito statue when you first walk in.

This place is God awful. I’d give it 0 stars, if I could… I’m from San Antonio, so I know good Mexican food. If you don’t know any better, you may enjoy it!
I came here with my doubts, but with an open mind. I was super excited about the ambiance… fun & festive. I was doubly excited when I spoke Spanish to the waiter and he responded in fluent Spanish! His accent was South American, I think, not Mexican but close enough I suppose! I was over the moon happy when I saw they had Dos XX in bottles… sadly, it tasted old and rank. As in it’d been sitting in the bottle for years. The chimichanga was SO bad that we could not even stomach it. We literally had two bites, paid, and left.
If you want «Mexican» food in this area: Pancho Villa in Ramstein village is the «best of the worst»…their taco salad is actually good. And closer identifiable to Mexican food, kinda sorta.

Cantina Mexicana is a good restaurant for those who are looking to satisfy a craving for Mexican food, though I’m not sure it’s actually Mexican it’s more Tex Mex style, with Pace Picante salsa for chips and a lot of refried beans. Overall, i think the average patron will be more than happy with their selection, the menu is pretty extensive and reasonably priced. You can get burritos, tacos, enchiladas, tostadas, tamales, and an assortment of Mexican entrees and sides. (They also have a decent variety of vegetarian foods)
The service is good, the staff is attentive and open to taking special orders which is wonderful. The restaurant itself is pretty large which makes it great for groups or mid-​sized events, and they even have a nice area for outdoor dining. But I warn you, wear clothes you won’t mind throwing in the wash immediately after eating here. The restaurant is overpowered by smell of grease and cumin.

War dort vor ein paar Tagen essen und kann nur sagen na ja. Es hat mich nicht vom Hocker geholt und ich finde, daß es vor Jahren dort wesentlich besser war. Die Begrüßungssalsa industriell und ohne harmonische Abstimmung mit Cilantro (Koriander). Die Quessadilla mit industrieller Hülle und völlig lieblos präsentiert und auch die Sangria war flach. Schade, schadewerde dort so schnell nicht mehr hingehen. Last not least waren die Speisekarten auf den Plastikseiten versifft und klebten aneinander. Der einzige Lichtblick war das freundliche Personal!!!

Toller Mexikaner in Kaiserslautern/​Einsiedlerhof. Der Service war zuvorkommend und zügig– das Essen ein Traum. Kommen gerne wieder!

Also vorab das Lokal macht von aussen nicht viel her auch innen ist das Ambiente nicht hochwertig aber das wichtigste ist das Essen ist immer superlecker! Speisekarte bietet enorm viel Auswahl an mexikanischen Spezialitäten! Ich empfehle eine Reservierung unabhängig vom Tag!

Waren heute spontan auf der Durchfahrt hier und es hat sich wirklich gelohnt! Endlich mal wieder gutes mexikanisches Essen, das in großen Portionen von überaus nettem Personal serviert wird! Viele Amis dort, die die Atmosphäre lockern!

Super Atmosphäre und super leckeres Essen! Angemessene Preise. Bei Eistee bspw. wird immer wieder aufgefüllt.Erdbeer Margharitas zu empfehlen. Im Sommer toll auf der Terrasse. Richtig mexikanisches Feeling :)

Gehe seit fast 7 Jahren regelmäßig einmal im Monat dort Essen. Bisher war das Essen immer sehr gut, bis auf einmal. Da hatte ich Maisbrei in Banenblätter mit Hühnchen. Wollte mal was anderes ausbrobieren. Leider war das Hühnchen nur im Maisbrei durch gelaufen.lach. Hatte wirklich das Huhn in diesem zusammengerollten Bananenblatt gesucht. Konnte es nicht finden. Naja, Geschmackssache:-)
Ansonsten kann ich mich wirklich nicht beschweren. Chilli Con Queso ist sehr zu empfehlen als Vorspeise. Hmmmmmmmmm. Einfach nur köstlich. Probiert es aus…

ich würde sagen eines der besten Restaurants die ich kenne.
Das essen ist vorzüglich, allerbeste Zutaten, Portionsgröße bei den meisten Gerichten
auch mehr als ausreiched US Style halt (Hamburger)
Auch der Eistee mit kostenfreiem nachfüllen ist klasse, jedoch kommt die Bedienung nicht wirklich oft zum nachfüllen, und wenn man nachfrägt sind diese dann leicht genervt.
Die Cocktails sind auch einwandfrei, aber recht teuer.
Die Speisen und die übrigen Getränke sind preislich im unteren Mittelmaß.
Der Geschmack, Geschwindigkeit und Zutaten im Oberfeld.
Am Service muss noch etwas gearbeitet werden.
Das Lokal ist eigendlich immer bis auf den letzten Platz belegt, ohne Tischreservieren geht gar nichts.
Ambesten schon einen Tag voher anrufen.

For Mexican food in Germany this has to be the best place. I mean being from the bay area in CA you know Mexican food. You practically grow up on it.
We all tried something different, just check out the pictures. It looks delicious and tastes great. The price was also not bad.
We went for dinner but they did have an outdoor area which with good weather must be great.

Einfach ein Hammer Restaurant wenn man auf Mexikanisches Essen steht, das amerikanisch angehaucht ist! Für 2 Personen ist eigentlich immer noch ein Plätzchen zu finden. Das Personal ist freundlich und die Preise sind ok!

Der einzige Nachteil vornweg: Das Restaurant ist so beliebt, dass man ohne Reservierung eigentlich nie eine Chance hat einen Tisch zu bekommen und auch mit Reservierung durchaus noch etwas auf seinen Tisch warten muss.
Davon abgesehen ist es einfach eines der genialsten Restaurants der Region. Das Essen ist super-​lecker (amerikanisch-​mexikanisch Stil), die Bier und Tequila –Auswahl nicht zu verachten und das Personal immer für einen Scherz zu haben.
Das Publikum besteht überwiegend aus Amerikanern, es geht also US typisch recht laut zu.

Vor ein paar Tagen war ich mit einer Freundin von mir das erste Mal in der Cantina.
Die Bedienungen waren sehr höflich und auch das Essen hat eigentlich ziemlich gut geschmeckt (nicht typisch mexikanisch, aber doch wohl um Welten besser als Taco Bell).
Das Problem fing eigentlich erst ein paar Stunden nach unseren Besuch an. Zwei geschlagene Tage lang hab ich so gut wie die ganze Zeit im Bad verbracht und noch nicht mal Wasser konnte ich mehr bei mir behalten.
Vielleicht war das eine einmalige Sache, ich werde jedenfalls nicht mehr dort essen gehen.
(Meiner Freundin ging es übrigens gut der einzige Unterschied bei unserem Essen: Ich hatte Hackfleisch im Essen, sie nicht.)

I love Cantina Mexikana!
Das absolute Lieblingsrestaurant von meinem Freund und mir. Immer wenns was zu feiern gibt, gehen wir da hin. Und manchmal auch einfach so, wenn uns danach ist :-)

Sympathisches tex-​mex-​Restaurant im amerikanischen Viertel K-​towns.
Am Wochenende sehr voll, ohne Reservierung lange Wartezeit.
Der Service ist recht schnell, redet aber oft nur Englisch. Das Essen kommt meist auch schnell und ist preiswert.
Sehr schönes Ambiente wie man es in RLP nur selten findet. Von Außen sieht es weniger schön aus und die Inneneinrichtung hat auch schon bessere Zeiten gesehen. Im Sommer mit gemütlichem Biergarten.

The Cantina Mexicana is so perfect in such a safe way, that it almost hurts to say how regularly I go there. And I truly mean that as a compliment, because the walls are lined with the same tacky plastic Spanish decorations that you thought you left the States to avoid. Then you realize you’re 20 minutes from the local US military base. Then this place makes sense. It REALLY makes sense.
Somebody is making a lot of money selling American Mexican to Americans.
So to start with what makes them good. Their service is excellent. I can’t imagine the difficulty of working with Americans all day, nor can I give enough credit to somebody who can understand Spanish food orders in English, translate them to German, and continue to keep a smile.
Their beer menu is great relative to the kind of food they serve, and their specials are killer if you land one on the right day. Their food menu also carries a great range in variety and customization, and luckily won’t kill your wallet. As far as being the complete package, the Cantina Mexicana does a fantastic job delivering everything you want it to, even if you don’t know what you want.
As a bonus, they offer a great outside seating area!
