EDEKA

Gleich beim betreten vom Edeka Laden kommt man an eine «Oase» aus Obst und Gemüse. Leider gibt es Zeiten, wo das Obst leider nicht mehr ganz so frisch aussieht. Jedoch ist das in letzter Zeit nicht mehr so oft vorgekommen.
Es gibt auch frische Obstschalen, mit geschnittenem und geschältem Obst, verschiedene Salate mit und ohne Fleisch, wo man nur noch das Dressing drüber schütten muss.
Etwa in der Mitte vom «Weg» gibt es 3 Theken, wo einem frische Fleischwaren, Käsespezialitäten und Fisch frisch abgepackt werden.
Am «Ende» des Weges befindet sich noch die Getränkeabteilung mit einer großen Auswahl an verschiedenen Alkoholfreien und Alkoholhaltigen Getränken.
Am Ausgang befinden sich etliche Kassen und sogar eine Expresskasse, welche leider fast nie besetzt ist, bzw. auch die anderen Kassen sind auch bei Stosszeiten nicht vollständig besetzt, so das es dann zu langen Wartezeiten kommt.
Gleich nach der Expresskasse gibt es eine Paketannahmestelle und ein Stückchen weiter eine Lottoannahmestelle.

I love EDEKA. It’s an upscale grocery store chain (they’re everywhere!) with more of the foods I’m used to seeing in the U.S., but an abundance of excellent quality local and gourmet specialties (i.e., meats, cheeses, yogurts, etc.). This mid-​sized one is in the local shopping mall… I love to have a grocery store in the shopping mall. (I wish the U.S. did that more.)
The fresh produce is beautiful here… and, there’s plenty of organic. There’s a butcher and deli counter with a huge variety of meats, fish, cheeses, etc. Need to clean your toilet? Socks? Beer (of course… you’re in Germany for crying out loud)? They’ll have it. And, candy… a hell of a lot of candy. Wow, Germans like candy… which makes me like Germans just that much more. There’s even a small Chibo section.
If we’re looking for something unique, we come to EDEKA. We do not (usually), however, get the staples (milk, non-​gourmet cheese and deli meats, etc.) here because it’s pricier than the local discount grocery stores. For example… we found pine nuts at the «other» store for $ 1.69…at EDEKA they were $ 3.69. That warrants some shopping planning!
I still love EDEKA.

Im Moment wird umgebaut, ansonsten gutes Sortiment. Leider etwas unfreundliche, genervte Angestellte. Wartezeit an der Kasse oft zu lange. Achtung, Punkt 20 Uhr wird der E-​Center-​Nebenausgang geschlossen, so daß man evtl. nur noch mit Umwegen zu seinem Fahrzeug kommt.
