Nordsee

After a week in Germany, I was getting seriously sick of eating sausages, sauerbraten and doner kebabs. My tummy was so happy when I saw this seafood quick service restaurant in Heidelberg.
Nordsee is set up like a fast food cafeteria. You pick up your tray at the entrance then tell the workers behind the counter what you want as you go down the line. I opted for a piece of grilled salmon and some various sauteed vegetables. There was a big variety of seafood offered, from fried to broiled, salads to sandwiches, and traditional seafood stews and soups. It was fast and cheap and the quality was good (I thought it was the best thing ever after 8 days of eating sausages). This is a nice stop if you want to try something a little different in Germany that you can’t really have at home. Yeah, you can get seafood, but this is a cool German chain.
The dining room was filled with lots of old local folks and universally they usually know 1. what’s good and 2. what’s cheap. When you are done eating, you take your own tray to the back. Easy, quick, tasty and cheap.

I was looking for a place to eat lunch that was simple and not too expensive, when I came upon Nordsee. I saw a shrimp salad in the window and knew that was going to be my lunch. My boyfriend ordered a warm shrimp dish with tomato sauce and bread. Both of us were filled with our meals, unable to finish! Atmosphere is more that of a fast-​food, cafeteria style, you stand in line and order what you want, get a tray, pay for your food and find a seat. Price is inexpensive. Quality of the fish is great and most importantly, fresh. Location is on Hauptstrasse, conveniently located close to all the shopping for you to grab some quick food between your shopping. I’ll go back again!

Ich bevorzuge es dort, mein Fisch für Sushi zu kaufen. Wenn ich den ausgesprochen freundlichen und hilfsbereiten Verkäufern mitteile, dass ich den Fisch für Sushi benötige, sucht sie das geeignete Stück aus.
Und weil einkaufen meist anstrengend ist, lasse ich mich manchmal mit einen in der Regel frisch zubereiten Gericht entschädigen.
