Bistro and drinks lounge immediately off the lobby area of the Steigenberger hotel across the autobahn from Frankfurt Airport Terminal 2. I had a voucher for lunch and wanted a beer so I gave it a shot. Various seating areas from high tables with bench/bar stool seats to the bar itself to low lounge tables and chairs. Open and well lit with floor-to-ceiling windows. There’s also an outdoor patio but it was just a bit too breezy and was already in the shade(or it was cloudy) so I took my late lunch indoors. Staff was very attentive, but it being 15:00 on a Saturday at a Frankfurt Airport business hotel(and the weather was very nice for outdoor activities) I wasn’t surprised to be one of only a few tables. I had a 0,5 liter pils and some type of vegetarian Indian food«sandwich». It was listed as spicy cauliflower with other vegetables and a yohgurt sauce. What it turned out to be was two medium wraps made of some brown grain with a cumin coriander turmeric curried cauliflower and vegetable mix with a small side salad and a yohgurt sauce on the side and that wonderfully tart and spicy green mint(?) pureé on the side. I’m no vegetarian… but this was delicious. I mean good. Even the side salad(which had a really nice presentation to it) was fantastic with a slightly sweet vinaigrette to offset the spiciness of the dish. However, the main reason I picked this dish was cost. This was one of the few menu items that my € 15 voucher would cover. It turned out to be an enlightened choice, sure, but this place is definitely geared for business travelers on an expense account.

This is a nice café and bar located in the Steigenberger Hotel and one of 5 or so restaurants and bars located in the hotel. I have eaten in one other place here and it was spectacular so I had reasonably high expectations. Unfortunately it was a bit disappointing and ended up being an expensive ordinary meal. I had the cheese burger and it was served on a bio bun and came with fries and many different sauces. It looked great on the plate and tasted ok but for € 18.50 I have had spectacular burgers :-) The service was also a bit slow and perhaps due to the fact that the hotel was full but, that is not my problem :-) Compare to the other restaurants in here it’s less expensive but value for money is seriously lacking in this place. I ended up spending € 24 for a burger and beer and I expect perfection for that :-) Am I asking for too much? I am afraid not :-)
