This is perhaps the best cocktail bar in Stuttgart. Not quite as fancy as Schwartz-Weiss, but also less esoteric, and that can be a good thing. While I adore Schwartz-Weiss, Bar Bergmann offers up similarly thoughtful drinks in a more relaxed yet still classy atmosphere, and at a better price as well. It’s clear that the proprietor knows what he’s doing, and he takes the extra effort and care to make complicated drinks properly, and is amenable to customer requests for changes. The downside is that when it’s busy, it can take quite a long time to get your drink. Go early to avoid that problem, and enjoy the best Sazerac in Germany(my tip: ask for it with Old Overholt Rye instead of Maker’s Mark). For serious cocktail fans in the wilds of Stuttgart, this bar, along with the aforementioned Schwartz-Weiss and the Cube bar at the Kunstmuseum make up the holy trinity of serious watering holes for the discerning drinker. Note that it is a smoking bar, although the ventilation isn’t awful.
