We were in Essen on vacation last year and decided to stop here for dinner one night. The place is a true revelation in a city not exactly know for culinary highlights. Due to 2010 being the year Essen was the cultural center of Europe, the menu was styled to feature a variety of classic«Ruhrpott» dishes, all of which were delicious and went great with a cold beer. Service was very good, with the waiter taking good care of our group of four throughout the dinner, without being overwhelming. Two small criticisms to make: One, the restaurant is not very well advertised, neither from the outside nor inside the hotel. We walked in and saw only a doorframe(mirrored in an old style), but nobody actually awaiting guests inside even though the place was open. Two, the appetizer caesar salad was very big, being more of a full lunch/dinner size portion. This was a bit strange, since all the other appetizers were perfectly portioned. Overall, an excellent restaurant right in the center of town(10 steps from an entrance to the Hauptbahnhof) with most reasonable prices.
