If I had come to this place upon first arriving in Germany, I would have rated it much higher, since I would be comparing it to bakeries in North America, and Gilgen’s is decidedly better than most places across the Atlantic. But having been in Europe for 4 months and comparing it with other German bakeries, I can’t say it’s any better than just okay. It’s huge, and mostly self-​serve, which is just bizarre, and the service that exists is not very attentive or helpful. Once I discovered Café Mehr just a block away, I haven’t been back to Gilgen’s. Why settle for okay when outstanding is just down the street?

Immer Frische und leckere Produkte, zu wirklich günstigen Preise. Durch die Bonuskarte spart man nochmals, es lohnt sich wirklich. Die Damen hinter der Theke sind immer sehr nett und freundlich. Deshalb von mir volle Punkte.
Ich komme wieder.
