We found this place while walking around bar hopping one night. At first we didn’t find a table cause it was so crowded. But after walking around the block we went back and found a place to sit. The atmosphere is very cozy; it feels like an eclectic shabby chic version of your grandma’s living room. It’s good for relaxing and chatting with friends. The drink menu has all the necessities from beer to cocktails.

This is a total gem, it was recommended by some locals and they knew the best. it has a cool décor and cozy vibe. there are two section for smokers and non-​smokers which is really nice for someone who doesn’t smoke.

I would have described this place as a ‘hidden gem’ a while ago, as was Helmholtzplatz, where it’s located.
Wohnzimmer used to welcome my partner, myself and our dog and we’ve spent a lot of hours (and money) there lounging in the comfy vintage chairs and sofas. Now, our dog’s not welcome so, neither are we!
The place is grungy. I like that, that’s not a negative thing but we have overlooked the stench of unwelcome smoke that lingers from adjoining rooms, but please don’t, Wohnzimmer, turn your nose up at our well behaved, clean, non-​smelly dog!!!
There’s plenty of more welcoming ‘alternative’ bars and café’s in the area as long as they don’t all start generating these ‘airs and graces’ that really don’t suit Berlin, the ‘beauty’ of Berlin.
Please don’t let Berlin turn into Paris or London! Keep Berlin real with no ‘airs and graces’. Please don’t forget those who supported you BEFORE the tourists came in their droves!

Gerade das Innenleben dieser Lokalität ist sehr gemütlich und macht seinem Namen alle Ehre. Die sanitären Anlagen sind sehr gepflegt. Die Bedienung versprüht mediterrane Leichtigkeit. Was stört sind die Schreie der Besoffenen im angrenzenden Park, weshalb ich den Aufenthalt im Inneren empfehle.

This bar has a nickname in our household, for my fiancé who does not speak German: «the perfect bar.» As in, «meet me at that perfect bar.» They play great music and they actually know how to make a cocktail. Until a few years ago, if you ordered a martini anywhere in Berlin, the bartender would open a bottle of vermouth, pour it into a martini glass and hand it to you. I’m totally serious.

I was here until late last night (or was it early this morning?) with my companion, my other companion, and his companion. As we wanted to hang out in a dive bar without a cover fee, we ended up here. We found a long sofa which we shared with a swanky lesbian couple. We ordered two Berliners and two glasses of Chardonnay; that was 12,50 EUR. We thought it was cheap so we repeated it and ordered another one.
Why do I love this place? I’ve only been here last night, but I heard how great this place is. Maybe it’s that retro vintage vibe, that grandma chic atmosphere, as well as the cavernous yet monastic underground restrooms.
They have a huge smoking section, as well as two bars. I tried their cookies; they were okay, but I won’t deduct a star for the okay cookies. After all, you go here for the alcohol, not for the cookies.
Oh, did I tell you they have free wifi as well?

Being a child of the 80’s in Berlin, this mirror image of a great dive bar for me puts Spandau Ballet in perspective with charm as I look over the furniture & find a place to ruminate over culture gone past and consider my next hop on the continent with good company. Das Wohnzimmer am Helmi eignet sich gut, wenn einem zu Hause die Decke auf den Kopf fällt. Auf den Sofas und Stühlen kann man es sich gemütlich machen, Kaffee trinken und lesen. Über die Einrichtung lässt sich streiten, ich persönlich würde sie als antik beschreiben. Die Tee’s sind frisch (keine Indurstriebeutel) und der zweite Aufguss gratis. Die Kuchen sind Durchschnitt und kommen von einem externen Zulieferer, der auch andere Lokale beliefert. Mir ist leider nach einiger Zeit immer sehr kalt, ich fände es daher schön, wenn etwas mehr Kissen und Decken angeboten würden.

Immer wieder gern! Hier kann man gut und gerne bei einem Zigarettchen sein Feierabendbierchen oder die Feierabend-​Cuba-​Libre geniessen. Die Bedienung ist nett und zügig, die Innenausstattung wie der name sagt. Das macht bei angenehmer Musik einen tollen Abendaufenthaltsort aus.

Décorer un bar avec des meubles chinés, c’est facile. Donner à l’endroit un vrai esprit suranné et jouer les enfilades de petits salons-​boudoirs pour que chaque client se sente unique, voilà qui est plus compliqué, faire s’entrechoquer avec goûts les salons de différents styles, voilà qui relève de l’exploit. Et puis surtout, pour une fois, meubles chinés né riment pas avec vintage-​indus. On se croirait plutôt dans la boutique d’un Antiquaire, en toute décontraction bien sûr. Alors on se sent bien au Wohnzimmer, à toute heure: pour un cocktail intimiste le soir, quand les sourires se font entendus et ravageurs, ou pour une pause thé dans la journée alors qu’on écume les boutiques bobos du quartier.

Ambiance rétro, cosy avec vieux canapés, vieux mobiliers et bonne musique d’ambiance. Coin fumeur. J’aime beaucoup les cocktails (surtout le white russian) et les boissons chaudes ont l’air pas mal non plus. Dommage que le café s’est un peu embourgeoisé ces derniers temps, on compte pas mal de trentenaires bien propres sur eux, des hipsters, mais bon l’adresse est excellente pour boire un verre. N’hésitez pas à filer vers d’autres bars ensuite, si vous voulez un peu pimenter votre soirée !

Über das Wohnzimmer kann ich sagen, dass es im Sommer ganz nett zum Draußensitzen und Kaffee trinken und Kuchen essen ist. Nur die Tische sind teilweise extrem schräg und wacklig. Abends war ich noch nicht da, hab mir aber sagen lassen, dass eine entspannte Atmosphäre herrschen soll.
Preise sind okay, machmal muss man länger anstehen.

The perfect living room type café, older than retro, almost older than vintage. this place has more charm than most modern places combined.
The Caipirinha is a good choice if you are thirsty, or if the sun is out. otherwise the bio wine, or the coffee are both safe bets.
Wohnzimmer only gets packed quite late in the evening, so I like heading there in the early hours when it’s still quiet and calm. then I find it the perfect chair to sink into, bring out a book or a notepad, and get lost in thoughts. someone else’s, or my own.
In the back they allow you to smoke, but luckily the front room is smoke-​free — which is perfect, seeing it’s my favorite anyways.

War jetzt schon öffters mit Freunden dort.
+ Einrichtung erinnert mich an die Läder der frühen 90er Jahre in Berlin.
Schön bunt alles zusammen gestellt.
Alles ein bisschen ranzig.
+ Nettes Personal. Abends Trinken die Kellner mit.
Coktails sind super zusammengemischt.
+ Preise stimmen.
Es gibt auch einen Raucherbereich den ich als Nichtrauchen zu groß finde gegenüber dem NR Raum.
Besucher Typisches Prenzlberg Volk.
Komme aber gerne wieder.

Dieses Café ist schön zum Frühstücken: Es ist günstig Müsli mit Joghurt und Obst, Milchcafé und Käsefrühstück für ca 8 Euro. Das in der Sonne, bei Vogelgezwitscher und spielenden Kindern (manchmal auch gröhlenden Besoffenen), die sich im Park tummeln Einfach schön. Ringsherum befinden sich wunderschöné Altbauhäuser. Auch Kuchen kann man hier gut Essen und den Kaffee gibts natürlich auch mit Sojamilch (Zuschlag 50 cent).
Drinnen sind schöné, alte Möbel, die wohl schon viel miterlebt haben (wie hier auch schon ein Vorredner befürchtet). Das Café hat Charme und lädt zum Verweilen ein. Nur der Eiscafé hat mir nicht geschmeckt Aber der steht auch nicht auf der Karte. Was lerne ich daraus? Nichts mehr bestellen, was auch nicht auf der Karte steht! Nächstes mal lieber einen Aperol Spritz oder so ;)

Man muss schon den Humor haben, um nicht wissen zu wollen, wer vorher auf deinem Platz sass.
Es ist ein Gefühl wie zu Zeiten der Hausbesetzung.
Was man dort trinkt, ist zwar sauber, aber das wo man sitzt hat doch schon eine andere Vergangenheit.
Für Touristen eine gute Möglichkeit, das Berlin zu schmecken und zu riechen, welches sie nur aus Fotos, oder Filmen kennen.
Aber sonst war es kein schönes Erlebnis.

Cool zum entspannten Abhängen, wann immer man will.
Man findet fast immer né gemütliche Ecke.
Doof finde ich, daß der Raucherraum wechselt, also vormittags in dem einen Raum und dann später in dem anderen Raum, kommt man dann nach dem Wechsel darein, is natürlich da noch der übelste Stunkalarm. Die Selbstbedienung ist super, nur die Tresenkräfte sind meist ziemlich mies gelaunt, könnten auch mal lächeln. Da machts gleich viel mehr Spaß, Leute! Die Kuchen von Liefer-​Konditor Engelmann sind eher Standard, also nix dolles, kenne ich noch aus andern Läden, naja.
Aber im Wohnzimmer erwartet man eh kein kulinarisches Highlight.

I was torn between giving 3 or 4 stars but decided to go with 4 as I think Wohnzimmer is a great, cosy café/​bar. I went here during the day for a meeting and Wohnzimmer has a great atmopshere for that. You feel like you’re hanging out in grandmas living room while sipping some tea (or cocktails). The only thing I don’t like is that at times it feels a bit clutters like there is too much furniture there, especially when you attempt to go to (what I think) is the smokers area. Besides that though, I think it’s a great spot to hang out or work.

Typisches Berliner Lokal mit Großmutters Möbeln.
Die Beleuchtung ist recht düster-​rot, dass man nicht so viel sehen kann, wenn es draußen dunkel ist, manchmal ist das auch ganz gut so. Der Barkeeper ist nett und die Getränkekarte insgesamt recht überschaubar und ohne größere Überraschungen, weder preislich noch von der Auswahl.
Im Sommer kann man auch draußen sitzen, allerdings muss man bei den Nachbarn oberhalb des Lokals aufpassen, die gerne zu später Stunde ihre Blumen gießen und durchaus die Gäste unten treffen können mit überraschenden Wassergüssen. Deshalb ein kleiner Tipp: unter den Balkon setzen!
Was mir positiv auffiel war die Musik, die nett durchmixt war, dass man hier und da etwas mitsingen konnte. Trotzdem war die Lautstärke gut abgestimmt, dass man sich ohne Probleme mit seinen Freunden unterhalten konnte.
