Sing Blackbird

I was looking for a café with wifi when Unilocal suggested this second-​hand-​boutique-​trendy-​café and I decided to give it a try. I have to confess I was hoping for a bit of cake with my coffee and although they did have one cake, it was vegan and looked way less appetising than I had anticipated.
The service was all right, waitress a bit too cool for school and certainly more worried about her conversation with her friends than making sure her three customers got what they wanted.
They do have a nice couple of tables outside for you to enjoy the afternoon sun and the coffee is not bad. Not my favourite café in the neighbourhood but I might give it a second chance if I happen to be around.

Awesome healthy raw vegan food and smoothies! Also found a couple great pieces in the store.

Sehr schade, dass sie nicht mehr frühstück anbieten. Es war auf jeden fall mal das beste vegane Frühstück in der Gegend.

Definitiv zu teuer und Kaffee auch kein Hit!
In Kurz: Amerikanische Mädchen bringen amerikanische Preise nach Berlin.
Grundsätzlich ein schöner Laden (Räumlichkeiten), wo es aber mehr um die 2^nd Hand Klamotten als ums Café geht. Es wird Englisch gesprochen. Die Kleidungsauswahl im Fokus eher around 90ies, was man halt heute so trägt.
Der bittere Beigeschmack: Gehäuft werden Teile einfach nicht ausgezeichnet, sodass dort bei Nachfrage ordentlich draufgeschlagen werden kann. Die zynische Bemerkung der Betreiber auf einem Schild an der Kasse in Richtung Blondies, die Preise sidn nicht verhandelbar kommt nicht von ungefähr — kein Wunder, dass Kunden nachfragen bei den saftigen Preisen und dem laxen Umgang damit! Auf Nachfrage kommt das auch noch sowas wie wir wollen ja auch Geld verdienen
Um das zu sein, was jens030 beschreibt, müsste es meiner Meinung nach wesentlich offener, netter und auf Augenhöhe sein. Leider hab ich das alles nur sehr eingeschränkt gefunden. Alles in allem sucht man hier wohl eher Seinesgleichen als eine nette Neuköllner Café-​Atmo oder das neue Teil.

On our first attempt to visit Sing Blackbird it had just closed. by about 10 minutes. After reading countless reviews and seen it mentioned on many ‘Best of Vintage’ Berlin lists, I had to see for myself. We made a trip back two days later and sure enough it delivered.
The café/​vintage store combo is brilliant. These are two things women love: coffee breaks and clothing. The selection was beautiful, well-​curated, and exactly what I was expecting in terms of uniqueness and quality.
We had a coffee and tea and then shopped. The décor of the café is cute, charming, and inviting. And the minimal touch of the shop is everything. I found a great pair of pants, my friend scored an amazing vintage persian lamb hat for only 5euro.
I am really happy we made the trip back to visit Sing Blackbird and next time I find myself in Berlin, I will surely make the trip again.

Cafè und Secondhandladen in einem. Mehr hip geht nicht. Naja, die Klamotten sind ganz cool, aber leider immer in Größe 42, ich pass also 3mal rein. Das Café an sich ist nett, aber eng und klein. Zum Kaffeetrinken also nicht geeignet. Außerdem hört man praktisch jedem Gast zu.
Née, ich bin Spießer und kauf mir lieber Klamotten und trinke dann erst Kaffee.

Schöné Auswahl an Anziehsachen zu günstigen Preisen und Trinken und ein Wenig Café-​Essen gibt es auch. Geredet wird nur Englisch. Alles in allem ein bisschen zu Hipp, lässt sich aber gut ertragen. Ist ein ganz nettes Café.

L’endroit que j’ai préféré à Berlin. Je m’y suis rendue seule, un peu avant mon départ, déjà un peu triste à l’idée de partir. quand j’y suis entrée, la propriétaire du café venait de terminer de préparer des vegan pancakes pour les prendre en photo et me les a proposé pour 2 € au lieu de 3,5… Alors forcément j’ai dit oui hein. Et ils étaient DE-​LI-​CIEUX accompagnés d’un petit bol de purée de fruits rouges et de sirop d’érable!
Pendant qu’elle passait un album d’Iron & Wine, beaucoup de gens du quartier sont passés lui dire bonjour, principalement des américains surstylés (et très beaux). A l’intérieur c’est classe, girly, vintage mais pas de surenchère.
Après ce petit déjeuner improvisé je me suis baladée dans le reste de la boutique, dans la partie fripe. Et là, Ô joie! Tout est beau, et très bien sélectionné, et pas cher du tout. Je revenais de chez Humana où tout était un peu trop cher à mon goût et là j’ai trouvé une super petite robe pour 10 €!
A essayer absolument!

Man muss sich nur zu helfen wird… So oder so ähnlich scheint das Motto von Sing Blackbird zu sein. Gab es am Anfang die Kombi aus veganem Restaurant und Vintage/​Second-​Hand-​Laden, musste die Küche mittlerweile schließen, da sich die Nachbarn über die Gerüche beschwerten. Tja, was tut man also mit dem Küchenraum? Man macht noch einen Verkaufsraum für Klamotten auf und gestaltet die Küche von warm zu kalt um und serviert fortan die leckersten Kuchen und Sandwiches.
Der erste Raum ist das Café, das einladend wirkt, aber gerade einladend genug einen Kaffee zu trinken, um sich vom Shoppen zu erholen und nicht, um Ewigkeiten zu versacken. Raum zwei hat kleine Vogelkäfige an den Lampen bzw um die Lampen herum, ganz passend zum Geschäftsnamen. Hinten um die Ecke gibt es einen weiteren Klamottenraum. Die Preise sind moderat und die Kleidungsstücke schön ausgewählt. Besonders gut gefiel es mir, dass es nicht den typischen Vintage-​Laden-​Geruch gab. Man kann hier übrigens auch seine eigenen Klamotten herbringen und in Zahlung geben, das habe ich aber noch nicht ausprobiert und kann nicht beurteilen, welche Kleidungsstücke angenommen werden.
Außerdem gibt es immer am dritten Samstag der Sommermonate den schönen Flohmarkt, bei dem man echt wunderschöné Sachen finden kann. Sing Blackbird ist unglaublich vielseitig und versucht echt so viel wie möglich aus dem Laden zu holen. Ich war zum Beispiel auch bei einer Buch Launch Party dort: Es wurden einfach alle Kleidungsstücke aus dem vorderen Raum getragen und die Sitzmöbel des Cafés in einen anderen Raum gebracht. Dann noch Mikro ausgebaut und schon gab’s eine wunderschöné Party. Die Besitzerin strahlt auch immer über das ganze Gesicht. Berlin braucht mehr von ihrer Sorte!

Das Sing Blackbird oder von mir nur liebevoll der Bird genannt, ist nicht irgendein Café es ist das Café auf dem Kiez. Der Knaller ist das Publikum: International, interessant und fashion-​affin, es gibt also immer was zu sehen;) Das Interieur ist sehr geschmackvoll zusammengestellt und sozusagen als cherry on the cake sind die charmanten & geschmackvollen Chefinnen des Ladens zu erwähnen. Wenn Ihr leckere Speisen mögt und dabei mal nach vintage Teilen für Euren Kleiderschrank stöbern wollt: Ideal. Taste the true international spirit of up-​and-​coming Xkölln im Bird. Schaut auch mal in die Menswear-​Ecke. Jetzt gibt’s im Bird auch schicke Sachen für die Jungs & Herren der Schöpfung. C u there homies:)

I was there for my birthdayit was a little surprise of my boyfriend! A little gift for me (that I’m a vegetarian) to start better the day with a delicius breakfast!
the place is small and cozyit seems to be at home.
the vintage shop is interesting and I loved the idea of the decorative plates on the wall.

Bin leider nicht in den Genuss, der im Internet wirklich toll angepriesenen Dinge des Sing Blackbird’s gekommen, da die Öffnungszeiten offensichtlich SEHR freestyle interpretiert werden. (Jedenfalls war das am 09.05.2011 vormittags so.) Ärgerlich, wenn man schon dafür mit dem Besuch extra durch die ganze Stadt gurkt.

Das Café in der Sanderstraße 11 ist mit einem Vintage Klamotten Laden angeschlossen, was ich ganz nett finde.
Die Kuchen und Scones sind ganz lecker und der Kaffee schmeckt auch gut. Vom Preis ist es okay.
Auf jedenfall ist das Interieur super schön!
Mal sehen wie es sich dann im Sommer draußen sitzen lassen wird.
Und seit neuestem gibt es dort einmal im Monat Sonntags auch einen Vintage Flohmarkt.

I moved to Berlin about a month ago and have slowly started to wandering around my neighborhood. My friend told me about this new café called Sing Blackbird that opened up a few weeks ago just down the street. He said it was owned by two girls, one which was American, the other a native to the area. I was curious to stop by and check it out.
I waited for the opportunity to go visit w/​a friend so we could sit down and chat while enjoying some tea/​coffee and snacks. Upon entering this place I saw that it was so cute. The renovations to the building looked great, lighting, elements and design were beautiful for this space. The wallpaper is amazing, and the décor and feel reminded me of a café that had more contemporary edge and design than most places that I’ve been to in a LONG time. It was extremely clean and tidy, with small tables to sit at and sip coffee and chat with friends.
The other side of the store has vintage clothes. Diana one of the co-​owners was working diligently at the sewing machine altering some clothes for a customer that was in the store. I found that to be a great characteristic of the store, as well as feature to those shopping. We all know vintage and older clothes are as is, and sometimes it just doesn’t fit, or there is something that is a little off w/​sizing, but we LOVE IT and gotta have it! Well she can fix it for you!
As i sat and drank my chai tea and ate some of the Pumpkin cheesecake (which was both amazing!), we struck up a conversation with Tasha, the other owner, about food in Berlin, tastes and cultural differences between America and Germany. They wanted to bring both together, using that lovely Baking Powder and Baking Soda we miss from back home into their foods here. The cheesecake we had was a hybrid of both cultures and had some great flavors to it. Not too heavy and not too sweet, the pumpkin topping had a great taste to it.
They had a bunch of other self made snacks there from biscuits, to cookies and breads, and even salads and other lunch/​snack/​dinner foods available for purchase. They also have a bar and serve wine and cocktails. They are looking to diversify their business by showing movies, hosting events, and having a great spot on the street with outside seating (in warmer weather), and starting to serve brunch with Pancakes! Yum!
I know where I’ll be in these next coming months in this great city. With great welcoming energy, positive outlook and creativity, I think Sing Blackbird will flourish quite well and I will definitely enjoy another cup of tea and snack there!
