Scube Parks

The Scube Park is a great place to stay if you’re looking for basic accommodation that’s a little different. Affordable, and well placed for Tempelhofer Feld and Neukölln. The nearest U-​Bahn (Boddinstr.) is a 5 – 10 min walk away, and there is a bus stop on the main road not far from the entrance.
The Scubes are cube-​shaped wooden cabins, simply furnished with beds for 2 – 4 people, table, lamp, portable heater, power sockets, mirror, coat hooks, plus there are plastic chairs for sitting outside. The main building houses the showers and toilet facilities, and dining/​bar/​reception area. There’s also an outdoor bar and food area with a cinema screen and pallet seating (however the bar and food kiosks are closed at this time of year).
There are a few minor drawbacks — the loos are in the main building so if you can’t hold your bladder until morning you’ll need to venture out of your Scube during the night, which at this time of year is a bit chilly! Think about bringing a blanket if you’re staying in the colder months (it wasn’t too bad in early November though). Free wifi is available but it often doesn’t work unless you are very close to the main building/​park entrance.
I enjoyed my week long stay in a Scube and would happily stay there again!

Très bon logement point de vue rapport qualité/​prix. Le personnel est à l’écoute et les douches sont vraiment nickel! De plus on est juste à côté de tempelhofer! Personnellement j’y retournerai!

We stayed at the SCUBE park for two nights (Jan 5 – 7) for a short excursion to Berlin from about four hours away.
They’re pretty awesome and late check in was not an issue (we arrived after 6 but the front desk is staffed until 11pm). We did have some difficulty figuring out exactly where the reception desk was, but once we got there, it was quick. Although my partner is a native German speaker the girl at the desk asked if I’d prefer they use English so I could understand. This was a pretty great thing to ask because I never expected anyone to us English just for me.
We stayed in SCUBE 11. There was a metal door, two windows on either side, a full sized bed on the right, a single bunk with a little set of stairs, a small table and a space heater. The lamp in the corner wasn’t very bright but it worked. Additional LED lighting was broken. There was a power strip but it only had 3 slots and one was for the lamp and the other was for the space heater.
We could have used more outlets, for sure. The bathrooms are communal (though not coed) and on the lower floor of where reception is. Signs indicate they are cleaned between 11−12pm but they were cleaned either instead of or in addition to, around 9−10am while we were there. Very much like bathrooms you find while camping.
If it’s not «in addition to» then they need it — there was hair and dirt on the shower room floor and hair all around the sinks in the changing room. The area with the toilets was fine. We wished there was maybe another bathroom or even a porta-​potty in the actual SCUBE area for late night trips to the bathroom.
We did breakfast the first morning we were there and while good and fairly standard (hard boiled eggs, brotchen, juice, coffee, meat & cheese, butter, jam, and some cereal) I didn’t think it was worth € 6.
There is free wifi but it barely reached our SCUBE and was weak in most places.
Every hotel has its flaws but we really liked the SCUBE and plan to stay again. Our only real problem was the heating. Online it says «There is heating but we suggest bringing an extra blanket.» So we did. But we didn’t expect the heating to be a single small space heater. Our second night the temperature dropped to around –4C and we were painfully cold. Space heaters take hours to get as warm as they’re needed to be and we had to sleep full clothed (pants, shirts, socks, sweatshirt) plus under the two hotel blankets + the one from the top bunch + our own blankets.
I’ll stay somewhere else in the winter in the future unless I know the temps will be mild and I feel the website needs significant updating.

Naja… dass keine Hotelstandards zu erwarten sind ist klar, aber dennoch fehlt hier die Achtsamkeit im Detail. In umserem ‘Würfel’ fehlte neben dem Hauptlicht (wohl defekt) gleich noch der obligatorische Rauchmelder. Dafür durfte man in den Ecken nicht zu genau hinsehen, sie waren voller Staub– und Spinnenfäden. Der Rest war erwartungsgemäss zweckmässig. Die Sanitäranlagen sind soweit sauber, der Empfang an der Rezeption war freundlich. Für 1 – 2 Nächte insgesamt ok, für mehr leider nicht.

SCUBEing bedeutet Schlafen in einem 3×3 Meter Würfel, es ist alles da was man braucht: Tisch, Kleiderhaken, Steckdosen. Zurück zur Natur, aber doch nicht so ganz. Tolle Alternative zum Hotelaufenthalt, persönlicher Service und gutmütig Bus und Bahn zu erreichen!

Nicht perfekt, aber es wird mit aller Kraft dran gearbeitet. Pluspunkte: Freundlichkeit, gute Duschen, alles unkompliziert und relaxed.
