Schwarzes Café

It’s a bar, it’s a café, it’s a restaurant, no… It’s Schwarzes café!
When I found about this place, I expected to find a café environment (coffee and pastries). When I came in, I found much more of a bar environment. They did have an espresso machine and some cakes, but this still wasn’t what I was expecting. I picked up a menu anyway.
Indeed, they have breakfast options, lunch and dinner options, and caffeinated options of various sorts. Suffice it to say you can get all three meals, late night, and drinks all in the same place.
I ordered a bowl of coffee, scrambled eggs with toast, and a plate of baker apple crepes.
Drink coffee out of a bowl (think large cup without the handle) was cool, especially for the coffee lover I am. Milk came in a small metal decanter, and was steamed enough to make it warm and give it come foam… A lovely touch. However, the coffee itself left something to be desired, as It was not particularly strong or flavorful.
Scrambled eggs were cooked absolutely perfectly, just runny enough, they did not taste like an omelette was put through a blender. My only grip is that it had too much salt. Considering you hey salt and pepper at the table, it would have been nice if there was less, or even so salt.
Crepes were pretty great. I liked how they were just is between being soft and crisp, in the Goldilocks zone. The filling of baked apples was nice, and I liked that it was a heeded apples. However, because the apples were shredded, the cinnamon and sugar overwhelmed the apples.
Ice cream and whipped cream was a nice addition.
Fruit was a good addition too, however, there were several minor imperfections here. First, the strawberry was cut in half, but the stem it removed. Ordinarily, if the strawberry was whole, I would not mention this… However, seeing as though it was already cut they could’ve removed the stem. Second, the grapes were not seedless, just a little unexpected to have to spit out seeds during a meal, and it is awkward if you are with a group that isn’t family.
Location was designed to look a little aged, but is clean. However the men’s WC is not the nicest place in the world.
Service was nice, and relatively quick — although I felt it could be a tad quicker considering there were not many people in here at the time

Egg-​selent breakfast joint in Berlin! The fried eggs are impeccably well done (just the right amount of runny yolk to dab my egg whites into) and the farmer’s omelette is savory and fresh. I also ordered the yogurt with fruit and got a heaping serving that more than met my daily requirement.
Coffees here are served in bowls (interesting).
The place looks like it’s survived the wars, but in a romantic/​nostalgic way (as opposed to a decrepit, dirty way).
Peeked at a few other dessert items that sounded tasty but was too full to sample. Try some for me!

Slow service, took 20 minutes to get a menu and another 15 to be served. But food was very good and fresh!

Sollte man mal gewesen sein. Interessantes Ambiente! Getränke waren gut. Gegessen haben wir nichts.

Wir waren da frühstücken. Auf ein paar Tische stand reserviert. Das Personal versuchte freundlich zu sein. Auf heiße Getränke muß man lange warten und teils vergessen. Wenig zum Essen und teuer.
Also für uns war 1a Flop.

Publikum querbeet. Altersstruktur genauso. Grosses Angebot an Getränke. Essen und Frühstücken ist möglich.

Mit einem Wiener Freund, der wegen eines kurzen Stopp-​Overs auf dem Weg nach NYC in der Stadt gewesen ist, war ich heute hier frühstücken.
Das Design des Gastraumes mutet schon sehr heruntergekommen und schmuddelig an. So schafft es das Servicepersonal leider nicht, verlassene Tische alsbald wieder frei zu räumen, um den Schmutz der vorherigen Gäste restlos zu entfernen.
Wir bestellten unser Frühstück und die notwendigen koffeinhaltigen Heißgetränke. Milch zum Kaffee muss man hier extra und unmissverständlich erwähnen bzw. bestellen, denn diese wird nicht automatisch mit serviert. Schließlich befindet man sich hier ja im «Schwarzes Café». Ein Ketzer also, der es wagt, den Kuhsaft zum schwarzen Gold dazu haben zu wollen!
Kulinarisch kann dieses Café wahrlich überzeugen. Denn die Brötchen sind tatsächlich frisch und schmeckten wunderbar. Für meine vollkommene Befriedigung wäre es toll gewesen, wäre die Auswahl der Belage quantitativ höher. Je eine 1 Scheibe Käse, Wurst und Schinken machen noch kein reichhaltiges Frühstück aus. Zumal die Konfitüre vollkommen fehlte. Dafür war das Hühnerei exakt auf den Punkt gegart, genau so, wie ich es liebe.
Das Personal ist superfreundlich und witzig, könnte jedoch etwas flinker sein. Die Toilette ist zwar sehr modern gestaltet, doch tröstet das nicht darüber hinweg, dass es hier wirklich sehr unangenehm roch und diese Örtlichkeit nicht gerade den saubersten Eindruck hinterlässt. Für mich steht und fällt der Eindruck eines Restaurants bzw. Cafés mit dem Zustand der Notdurftverrichtungsstätte.
Deswegen reicht es für mich nur zu zwei Sternen.

A highlight in berlin, open 24h and the food is great. Lovely old building and cozy atmosphere. The staff can sometimes be a bit busy but it’s usually full. Cute garden out the back and a tiny balcony upstairs. You’ll be lucky if you get it tho! The Gorgonzola quiche is lovely and you can get great ice creams covered in various liqueurs.

My favorite café in Germany!
My best friend who lives in Berlin took me here late night when I came to pay her a visit. I adore how quaint and cozy the place looks even at night. I love how they have lighted candles to give a romantic feel. When we came maybe around 10 or 11pm there were so many people here!
We enjoyed hot chocolate, milkshake and we split a carrot cake! Everything was delicious!
I would definitely recommend this place if you’re looking for a nice café to catch up with a friend!
Did I mention that this place is open 24 hours?!

Recht nett hier, gute Auswahl an Speisen. Vielleicht abends etwas zu voll.

Das Essen ist ziemlich langweilig (Tomatenbruschetta und Apfelstrudel — nichts besonderes und eher überteuert), der Kaffee durchschnittlich. Ich würde allerdings wegen der netten Atmosphäre und der freundlichen und äußerst schnellen Bedienung wiederkommen.

Came alone around 11 on a Saturday, had to look a minute or two before finding a seat in this crowded two-​story café-​cum-​bar. You’ll have to actively get the staff’s attention.
My spinach käsespätzle was delicious, and the portion was even too large for me to finish. Minor note: my coffee was fine, served in a beautiful but weirdly handleless soup bowl?

Awesome restaurant/​café. Usually a place where it’s nice to just grab a drink, sit and have a coffee with friends etc. They however do have a big menu, where I can especially recommend the breakfast. Most food I’ve had is decent, but only the breakfast is really good! The atmosphere is really nice and it is opened ²⁴⁄₇. It’s definitely crowded most of the time so if you don’t want to wait I reccoment making a reservation. I went on monday nights before and thought it would not be crowded and I still did not get a table so I would always make a reservation!

Eine Zeit lang bin ich regelmäßig zum Frühstücken hier her. Weil ich das Essen (Auswahl!) an sich und die Qualität (Bio!) so mochte, sowie Lage und Ambiente (volles Haus!). Und nicht zu vergessen, dass das Café 24h offen hat und Frühstück rund um die Uhr bietet.
Aber: der Service ist von mal zu mal schlechter geworden.
Und damit meine ich vergessene Bestellungen, vergessene Details der Bestellungen oder auch falsch aufgenommene Bestellungen («Ach, stimmt ja, Du wolltest Vollkorn…»), Bestellungen kommen zu SEHR unterschiedlichen Zeiten (alle am Tisch sind fertig, da bekommt der Letzte nach zig mal fragen endlich sein Sandwich!), warmes Gerichte kommen oft nur kalt an, Servicekräfte arbeiten größtenteils widerstrebend (ich bin mehrfach aufgestanden und hingegangen, weil es einfach alles so lange gedauert hat und man nicht beachtet wurde), Servicekräfte haben teilweise noch nie was von Grundformen des freundlichen Miteinanders gehört und zuletzt hatte man als Gast sogar das Gefühl Bittsteller zu sein, etc. pp. — man hat den Eindruck, dass da was im Managementkonzept nicht stimmen kann, da sich die Beobachtungen wie ein roter Faden durch jeden Besuch zogen. Wirklich schade.
Zu guter Letzt: das Mobiliar ist grauenvoll!
Uralte durchgesessene Polster, beschmierte Tische, alles zusammengewürfelt, etc. Das kann nicht mehr Absicht und «stylish», sondern ist einfach nur igitt!
Und das wo die Räumlichkeit so viel Potenzial hätte, hier etwas wirklich Schönes draus zu machen… :/​
Wenn ich irgendwann mal mitbekomme, dass renoviert wurde und der Service sich wieder an üblichen Dienstleistungsstandards orientiert (die sind ja in Berlin eh nicht so super-​hoch…;)), dann probiere ich es gerne noch einmal. Bis dahin muss ich mich leider mit Empfehlungen für das Schwarz Café zurückhalten.

J’aime tellement pouvoir manger des trucs qui ressemblent à un petit déjeuner avec un milkshake à n’importe quelle heure de la journée et de la nuit, que cet endroit est forcément idéal pour moi.

Sicherlich übt dieser Laden einen gewissen Charme aus, aber mich hat er nicht so überzeugt wie manch anderer. Als ich einmal zur besten Brunchtime dort war, gingen wir nach oben um etwas ruhiger zu sitzen. Falsch gedacht. Von überall drangen laute Geräusche hervor. Vor allem von der Küche aus, als würde man direkt in dieser stehen. Das Ambiente ist wirklich schön und den Reiz nachts noch lecker zu frühstücken kann ich durchaus nachvollziehen, aber mir fehlte dennoch das Gewisse etwas.

Open ²⁴⁄₇. Perfect for delicious food, after leaving the club at 6am. I loved the Kaiserschmarrn, which I shared with my dancing buddy. We were stuffed & happy with the warm, decadent dessert… side of ice team & vanilla sauce, cherries. Nice warm unpretentious atmosphere… My new go-​to spot, for late or early morning eats… After pulling an all-​nighter. Friendly Service, to boot. 2 thumbs up!

Der Klassiker! Hier muss jeder mal gewesen sein der in Berlin wohnt und nachts Hunger bekommt!

I knew I made a gigantic mistake when I said hello to my tinder date.
I suppose I could judge this place negatively since it’s where my date excitedly brought me (and I also think the area is a little touristy, a little weird, but what do I, a foreigner, know about Berlin?) but I will just say this — you can smoke on the balcony, and the drinks are strong. The staff are lovely.
I’ll come here with someone else so I can associate a pleasurable time with this venue. It’s too nice to let it die with a repressed memory.

Sehr umfangreiche Karte, gemütliches Interieur und vor allem eine ausgezeichnete Bedienung (junge Frau mit Pferdeschwanz). Sie war auf zack, super freundlich und aufmerksam. Das ist heutzutage viel wert!

It’s okay for a drink when you are close by but usually filled with tourists who had been at primark.
I usually drop by after a vernissage from my university or when I had dinner in Kantstraße.
The staff is nice and I like the casual atmosphere.

Frühstück ist klasse. Reichhaltig und gute Qualität zum sehr faíren Preis.

Für ich das beste Café in Berlin! ²⁴⁄₇ geöffnet, tolles Frühstück, typisches buntes Berliner Publikum. Eines der letzten Café’s die es schon vor der Wende gab und die bis heute unerreicht gut sind!

Leider überteuert ein wenig… Aber nettes Ambiente und vorallem unschlagbare 24 h geöffnet. Wirklich gut sowas! Die heiße Schokolade schmeckt hervorragend!

Das Schwarze Café, welches inmitten Berlins Zentrum auf der Kantstraße liegt, ist der ideale Anlaufpunkt für Mitt-​Zwanziger und andere rastlose Reisende, die sich nach einer durchtanzten Nacht oder einem langen Arbeitstag noch einer einfachen und schnellen Mahlzeit und einem unprätentiösen Beisammensein sehnen.
Frühstück gibt es hier ²⁴⁄₇ und auch die Küche wird niemals kalt, sodass man auch an einem Dienstag Abend um 21 Uhr noch leckere Spiegeleier auf Schafskäse-​Toast verspeisen kann.
Die Speise– und Getränkekarte ist vielseitig und bietet alles, was das Herz begehrt, der Service ist freundlich und schnell und auch die Atmosphäre ist gemütlich, urig und lädt zum Verweilen ein.
Abzüge muss man hier wohl schweren Herzens bei der Qualität der Speisen machen: die Portionen sind zwar groß und man wird das Lokal in keinem Fall hungrig verlassen, doch überzeugen die einzelnen Gerichte leider nicht vollkommen, da es unter anderem am nötigen «Pepp» durch fehlende Würze fehlt.
Auch die Lautstärke ist enorm hoch, sodass man vor allem in größeren Gruppen schon an einem Tisch von bis zu 8 Personen sein Gegenüber kaum verstehen kann. Das Motto lautet: je später die Stunde, desto höher der Geräuschpegel.
Die Preise sind durchaus angemessen. Für eine «vollwertige Mahlzeit» legt man hier im Durchschnitt ca. 10 Euro auf den Tisch.
Für einen kleinen Absacker mit Freunden definitiv geeignet, allerdings sollte man sich für tiefgründige Gespräche und intime Atmosphäre besser andernorts umsehen.

Weird having breakfast in a club-​like room. The food itself was just OK, standard breakfast fare similar to what you’ll get at a hotel buffet breakfast.

Ach ja, nach langer zeit wiedereinmal im schwarzen Café gewesen.. Wohl zum allerersten mal nüchtern und am helllichten Tag.
Es war schön, genau wie früher (war zuletzt vor knapp 5 Jahren dort) das tolle am schwarzen Café ist das du dort jederzeit frühstücken kannst !! Es hat den ganzen tag lang auf und ist dadurch Kult geworden! Jeder Berliner und der, der sich dafür halten mag sollte mal wenigstens für einen Kaffee dort gewesen sein! Das ist auch dann besonders lustig wenn dir das z. b morgens um fünf mit deinen besten Freunden nach dem feiern einfällt.. ja was nun!!! Schwarzes Café! !
Der Laden selbst ist in die Jahre gekommen und alles ist etwas speckig und angeschremmelt aber trotzdem mit Einen gewissen Charme!
Schöner Stuck an den Wänden im oberen Teil, doch mit goldfarbe lackiert die wiederum stellenweise abbröckelt. Teilweise gibt es tropische Bilder von Papageien und dergleichen (der Vogel ist auch das Logo vom Café) aber auch schwarze Wände.. Wirkt ein wenig wie ein altes Haus in cuba oder so. etwas alt. etwas verwohnt. doch mit Charme!
Gern komme ich mal wieder … Vielleicht wieder beschwibst und mitten in der Nacht.

Tried the breakfast twice and it was tasty.
They’re really generous. We ordered a dish for sharing; they said they’ll split it into two plates but the amount I’m sure was more than what it should, looked like 2 full ones.
The staff was extremely friendly, smiling, and very welcoming which –based on my stay– didn’t exist elsewhere in Berlin.

Wirklich schöné Einrichtung und gemütliches Ambiente. Das schwarze Café bietet eine große Wahl an Speisen, welche zum Teil sehr ausgefallen sind. Die Preise fallen dementsprechend etwas überdurchschnittlich aus. Am Service gab es auch nichts auszusetzen, die Bedienung war schnell und freundlich.

Toller Kuchen, leckerer Kaffee und ein schönes stimmungsvolles Ambiente erwartet einem hier. Nicht weit weg vom Kurfürsten Damm zu guten Preisen. Unser Tipp: Kirsch-​Käsekuchen (mit Sahne)

Was für ein Laden! Sehr unverhofft stolperte ich eines Nachts im Schlepptau einiger Bekannter ins mysteriöse Schwarze Café, in dessen Athmosphäre manch Schriftsteller einen melancholisch-​weltschmerzlerischen Bestseller geschrieben haben könnte.
Kommt man aus dem heimeligen Eingangsbereich im Erdgeschoss die Treppe herauf, erblickt man Stuck an den hohen Decken im zweiten Stock, teilverputzte Wände, schummrige Nischen und tolle Gemälde.
Die Karte bietet von Früh bis Spät zahlreiche Snacks und Gerichte aller Couleur, von denen ich mir die meisten am liebsten sofortig und unverzüglich zum Gaumen geführt hätte. Wobei das Schwarze Café nichts für den schmalen Geldbeutel ist. Knappe fünf Euro für ein paar Brusschetta ist nicht wenig, wenn auch geschmacklich ausgezeichnet.
Die Toiletten sind passend zum Rest des Lokals musisch-​avantgarditisch gestaltet, riechen dafür allerdings sehr streng; bei meinem Besuch fehlte die Seife.
Servicetechnisch passt alles zum hiperstigen Klischee: Wortkarg und gelassen. Hierbei sollte allerdings Coolness nicht Unfreundlichkeit bedeuten!
Summa summarum ist das Schwarze Café eine der besonderen Institutionen Berlins — in vielen anderen Läden gebe ich keine zweite Chance; insbesondere das Rund-​um-​die-​Uhr-​Prinzip gefällt mir ausgezeichnet. Wenn ich einmal tagsüber im Café vorbeischaue — und das werde ich definitiv, wird es wohl auch mal Zeit, den Hinterhof auszuprobieren.

Beautiful Café with a lovely staff, good prices, and great selection

It’s delightfully shabby. The exterior suggest a humble little coffee shop, then as you enter you begin to see it unfold around you. Then as you continue you begin to notice the faded ornate décor and you realise it’s as though you’ve stepped back in time, which would at least explain the tardis like nature of the place.
The staff are all proficient English speakers and they have copies of the menu in at least German and English. I felt suitable chastened when I was told I should of asked for an English menu rather than struggle with my limited German.
We both ordered eggs, with my pigeon German and Scottish accent it’s best to keep it simple.
I went for the ham and fried eggs while Gill went for scrambled. We both had tea to accompany and I also guzzled a chocolate milkshake.
I loved the place, even if I never ordered the most taxing or spectacular things on the menu. The large fruit juices look delicious and the the breakfast fruit salads are stacked with fresh fruit. Had I more time in Berlin I’d have returned with a bigger appetite and a little more confidence.

Die Bedienung fühlt sich teilweise zu hip (Erasmus-​Studenten, die sich so verhalten, wie Berliner Hipster karrikiert werden) und der Geräuschpegel ist zeitweise zu hoch. Trotzdem: Toll für jede Tages– und Nachtzeit und jede Gelegenheit!
Die Karte ist nicht klein — trotzdem esse ich aus unerfindlichen Gründen hier (und nur hier) immer ein Club-​Sandwich. Das ist nämlich ziemlich lecker und wird nur von den krossen Speckstreifen getoppt, die dazu gehören. Die sind unglaublich lecker! Und groß ist die Portion auch.

Ja, schön und gemütlich. Die Bedienung ist freundlich und flink, wenn es das Gästeaufkommen zulässt.
Ordentlich durchorganisiert und Preise.
Trotzdem wird der Versuch unternommen, das Image eines linken Alternativ-​Treffpunkt zu erhalten. Da ist zunächst fie Tür der Herrentoilette im oberen Teil zu nennen. Merkwürdig. Auch die letzten Seiten der Speisekarte befremden zunächst. Werde die Fotos versuchen hochzuladen. Das ist ein extremistisches Pamphlet vom 17.03.1987, in welchem fanatische Frauenrechtlerinnen irgendwelche grundsätzlichen Probleme mit Männern haben und dajer das Schwarze Café für Männer sperren wollen, durch Eintritt usw. Verwirrend. Da ich diese Seite als erszer aufschlug, dachte ich im ersten Moment dieses Schreiben im links-​autonomen Schriftdeutsch wäre ernst gemeint bzw. aktuell.
Letztlich ist das Café jedoch immer zu empfehlen, wenn man sich dort treffen will. Mit wem auch immer, Freunde, Bekannte oder auch extremistische Emanzen.

In the middle of Charlottenburg’s upper class design and photography mecca, across the Stilwerk, lays Schwarze Café like a happy stray dog. Since 1978 has the all-​in-​one restaurant /​café /​bar attracted people of all parts of society to sit together over cocktails and Käsefrühstück. Follow the neon parrot sign any hour of day and night to enter an oasis of shabby chic, with golden ceiling, stucco, dark furniture and contemporary paintings on the wall.
The service is sweet in a Berlin way. Don’t be surprised if your «salad with egg» gets delivered in two — a salad and a cooked egg on the side. However, just laugh about it and joke with the waiter.
A BIG PLUS are the various glutenfree pasta dishes!
Prices are above average for Berlin and low for Charlottenburg. Highest chance to meet Berlin’s celebrities of Savignyplatz are somewhere around 5am.

Seit 1978 existiert das schwarze Café in der Kantstr. Und seit jeher ist es Treffpunkt für alle möglichen Leute, vom Berlin-​Touristen über Studenten bis zum Hollywood-​Schauspieler. Das liegt wohl auch an den durchgehenden Öffnungszeiten, die gerade den Nachtschwärmern entgegen kommen.
Die Einrichtung wurde zwischendurch vorsichtig renoviert, der Charme blieb erhalten. Ein echtes Stück Zeitgeschichte. So sahen vor einem Viertel Jahrhundert sehr viele Berliner Szene Cafés aus. Mein Lieblingsplatz im Schwarzen Café ist im Frühling auf dem kleinen Balkon im ersten Stock. Perfekt!
Der Service ist zum Glück nicht wie früher, damals traf man noch öfter (und nicht nur hier) auf den schon sprichwörtlichen ruppigen Charme der Berliner Servicekräfte. Heute wird man hier bestens bedient.
Ich hatte hier ein Sandwich mit Pute, Mango und Erdnussbutter (8,20 €). Sehr lecker aber leider kalt. Ansonsten kann man hier rund um die Uhr Frühstücken, Essen, Snacken, usw.
Normalerweise drei Sterne für det Janze, und einen vierten für die Zeitmaschine.

This place is definitely something to go check out. Hardly anything is open 24 hours in Berlin and the architecture/​details in this place are super cool.

Hier in Berlin eine der besten Adressen für Frühstück und abends nach Clubbesuchen vor allem für Studenten eine super Adresse, um noch mal schnell eine kleine Sache zu essen und den Abend in einer netten Atmosphäre ausklingen zu lassen.
Das Frühstück ist wirklich sehr lecker und die Speisekarte bietet wirklich für jeden etwas!

Nice enough café but not revolutionary. Despite the Russian influenced décor it’s quite cozy and has a spacious back room. The staff are friendly.
Had an aroma breakfast (bread, jam and grapefruit). The grapefruit hit the spot while the rolls were just ok. The cheese was probably from aldi or some supermarket but the jam seemed homemade. From the French breakfast, the croissant was also ordinary.
To give them credit, they do a good presentation and coffee. Probably won’t be back given all the nice cafes in berlin.

this café might be the epitome of what i think a berlin café/​restaurant is. from its shabby-​chic interior to the nonchalant staff and great food which come in (to me) huge german sizes, i love this place a lot. too bad i don’t live near it.
they got a fairly big menu to choose from and don’t forget to ask for the weekly/​daily menu. i am a big fan of their spinach ravioli and their kaiserschmarrn, perfect to share with friends since the portion is very big. in my opinion, everything is quite filling and heavy but then i really feel like i got what i paid for which is good :) their hot lemonade is great, too. super sour, the way i like it!
it is open 24 hours, which is amazinnngggg, so after a long night of partying you can spontaneously go grab some early morning dinner for example or late night breakfast. hahah
i think this place is great for a casual dinner date or to grab some lunch with friends even, or what i like to do is come here with my family when they’re on a visit, so that they get to experience the true berliner gastronomy feeling.

Schummriges aber gemütliches Café, das gerne auch von den Künstler des TDW angelaufen wird.

Nettes café, gemütliche Atmosphäre, viele Sitzplätze, Vielfalt von Auswahl in der Speisekarte, Preise etwas zu hoch für die Produkte/​Service — ich hatte die Französische Frühstück mit einer großen Tasse Cappuccino, ein Croissant mit Butter und Marmelade und habe dafür ca. 6 € bezahlt.
Service könnte freundlicher sein.

Ich verstehe den Hype um das Schwarze Café nicht.
o.k. es hat 24Std. geöffnet und bietet so jedem zu jeder Zeit etwas zu essen (macht MCD auch)
Preis Leistung hält sich in grenzen so das ich mal behaupten würde man könnte auch vergleichbares mit mehr Obstgarnitur, oder, oder an anderer Stelle in ähnlichem Ambiente bekommen, doch DIESES CAFÉ musste uns heute gezeigt werden…
Bedienung war nicht gerade Aufmerksam, aber bei 4 Tischen verliert man auch mal gern den Überblick ;-)
Tolles Ambiente, sollte man auf jeden Fall mal gesehen haben …

Schwarzes Café is open 24 hours. I’ll give them a star for that, but the food and service is below mediocre.
I’ve been here a couple of times and have preferred to sit in the back. The outside and top levels are always busy with patrons. During the times I’ve visited, the back room is hardly crowded; it has more of an intimate vibe.
FOOD & DRINKS
On each occasion, I’ve ordered their teas. They may not be as aromatic or flavorful like teas I’ve had at other cafes in Berlin, but they do the trick of soothing a sore throat if you’re nursing a cold.
Food isn’t the best. I once ordered a chocolate cake that was wading in a puddle of some kind of boozed-​up berry sauce. Not only did it not taste good, but it was dry, which probably explained the amount of sauce I received.
SERVICE
Pretentious and slow, but that’s not uncommon when dining out in Berlin. Though, I prefer slow service over pretentiousness.
OTHER
Sometimes, they’ll play hip hop music. Being an American, listening to and singing along to Snoop Dogg and Tupac tracks always makes me happy and long for the Westside. +1 Star for that.
OVERALL
Not a place I’d suggest dropping in for food, drinks, and atmosphere. Even though it’s open 24 hours and they play good music on occasion, you’re better off staying at home or waiting til the next day to visit another café.

Perhaps I came here with the wrong expectations. I headed here for brunch earlier today, thinking it would be a great find. After all, I read the previous reviews and they all liked the place. However, after doing brunch here myself, I have to say I cannot give it more than 3 stars. It’s okay, but not okay enough for me to be a fan.
Here’s why.
I ordered the Käse Frühstück, as well as the fresh ginger tea. What came instead was the cheese breakfast and a pot of green tea. Did I order green tea? But never mind, I like green tea as well.
Okay, so they misheard me. Big deal. Let’s move on. The cheese, well, I did like the cheese, but their selections of cheeses (they said the cheese breakfast has 5 types of cheese, which it did) were not too innovative. It was too much on the mild side (the strongest cheese they offered was goat cheese). And the bread basket that came with it was not warm. That being said, their egg was soft-​boiled to perfection, that I had to eat it German-​style, where you put it on the egg holder, crack the top, and scoop it out with a plastic spoon. I usually eat my eggs Filipino-​style, where I crack the whole egg, peel off the shell, and using my hands, dab a little salt on it and bite. The yolk was soft and yummy that I cannot do that.
Now, normally, cheese breakfasts are on the low end of the breakfast menu, as there are more elaborate breakfasts that are available and therefore pricier. It is indeed the case here, but this cheese breakfast is already 7,90 EUR! Oh wait, I am after all in Charlottenburg, one block off Kurfürstendamm.
So, given all that, I am only giving this place 3 stars. The brunch places I have found in Prenzlauer Berg and Kreuzberg have set my bar for brunch quite high, that 7,90 EUR would get me more value elsewhere. I will only go back here if the other options are closed. After all, one good thing with this one is that they are 24 hours open.

En la Kantstr. encontraras este restaurant en la cual puedes comer la 24 horas del dia. el menu es variado, el ambiente bastante fresco y dinamico. esta muy bien de precio.

Ouvert 24h/​24 7j/​7, ce café propose, parmi beaucoup d’autres choix, un petit déjeuner à n’importe quelle heure à prix moyen (moins de 10 euros, ce qui est considéré assez cher pour Berlin). J’y suis allé à 2h du matin, et je me suis installé sur la terrasse avec des amis. Au lieu de prendre une formule de petit déjeuner (un café au lait ou chocolat chaud avec un croissant), comme je n’avais pas faim du tout, j’ai commandé un milkshake à la fraise pour 3,60 euros. Les cocktails coûtent beaucoup trop cher, comparable aux prix parisiens ! Le milkshake était bien meilleur que les arnaques que j’avais goûté à Paris, mais pas assez crémeux et épais pour moi. J’aurais dû prendre le petit déjeuner :(Le service était sympa, mais pas très attentif. Normal, je dirais, à 3h du matin. Bref, j’adore l’idée, ce qui me rappelle les diners américains ouverts à toutes heures, mais c’est loin d’être une top adresse.

C’est le bar où aller en semaine quand les autres endroits ferment. Ouvert 24/​24, c’est un bar /​restaurant sympa et pas cher pour boire un verre. La déco est bien, en particulier les toilettes des filles :-) !

Ce café est génial. Les toilettes sont sensationnelles, le service, les cocktails, les plats, tout, tout, tout, on né s’en lasse pas.

Le Schwarzes Café est sans aucun doute un des meilleurs bars de Belin avec ses petits-​déjeuners et ses repas très sympas. Dans une atmosphère jeune et détendue, on peut profiter de la nuit entière pour savourer les meilleures bières allemandes!!!
