If i learned anything from my visits to Berlin, it’s this: Consuming a bowl of hot phở or a plate of spicy curry does the trick to assuage the side effects of an onerous cold. Red Lotus is conveniently located around the corner from my former apartment, so I was able to make the occasional trip for phở and other Vietnamese comfort foods whenever I was feeling under the weather, or just too lazy and tired to cook. The menu has plenty of choices to select from, such as hot soups, noodle dishes, and curries. The chicken phở is light and flavorful, as well as the glass noodle soup with mixed vegetables. The red curry with mixed vegetables is a little on the spicy side, but bearable for myself; although, I’m sure this can be ordered at any spicy level. The curry is an entrée that can be shared, but I was able to finish the entire plate on my own. My favorite dish off of the menu is their crispy duck in red curry sauce. I can’t stress enough how delicious it tastes. Whenever I’ve dined at Red Lotus, which was usually around the late afternoon, the place was empty, or there are only a few people dining in. From what I’ve observed, many customers place their orders to go. I enjoyed the service at Red Lotus. The food is prepared quickly, and I’ve never had to wait more than 10 minutes for my orders to come out. Sometimes, I’d speak with the amiable manager of the restaurant, who was obliging and patient when it came down to ordering«auf Deutsch»(that’s a plus in my book!). Red Lotus is another fabulous find in Schöneberg. Fantastic service and food. What more is there to ask for?
