Papa Nô Friedrichshain

We picked our selection of sushi, and it was good. Vegan/​vegetarian meals are also fine.
Don’t be so hard on Papa No !

PAPA NÖ a.k.a. Papa heck no!
The overall taste = 2 people not impressed.
Delivery driver was friendly.
Chicken salad — The chicken was pre-​mixed with an out of the bottle sweet chili dressing. This was way overpowering, due to its sugar base. It would had been better if the dressing was packed separately, so you could decide if you wanted to add it or not. This is typically used as a dipping sauce.
In addition, the Tom Ka Gai was more sweet than sour and the beef in the summer roll was cut too thick and tough. The beef fell out of the summer roll because I couldn’t bite through it.

I’ve eaten here a couple of times. Around 6 – 7 i would say.
I love their food, it’s simple and delicious.
Their smoothies are a little boring, but i like their menucard detail where they tell you which smoothie is good for what, nice detail.
Their sushi is great! It’s not the most creative or surprising sushi, but it’s very good and satisfying. I could always eat their avocado-​sushi, yum! And they have a little fun feature where you can select Kappa-​rolls with either yellow, blue, pink, spotted or green, nori-​wrapping, so cute.
Last time i was there I got the Vegan duck in red curry. It was awesome! It could have used some more vegetables though, but other than that– Perfect. Very mild, with a nice red curry flavor, and the mockduck is so crispy and delicious! And with a smallish portion of rice, so you don’t feel like they cheap out and make it 70% rice/​30% other. The only thing it needed was more veggies.
The menu says that it’s «strong/​Spicy» which i wouldn’t say, so be sure to tell them you want it extra «scharf» if that’s what you’re into :)
I’ve gotta admit that i was close to bumping Papa nô down to a 3 because the service is bad, but the food is so nice.
The staff comes off lazy and uninterested in giving a good service. They are VERY impatient, and never smile. And they just call you when your food is ready even though it’s a large restaurant with a pretty «fancy» look.
The person accompanying me on one of my visits does not speak or read german, and therefore made the mistake of looking in the «only for take-​out orders”-fridge for a beer that he could buy. When the staff saw this all 3 started yelling at us in German, making it impossible for me to translate for him what he should do instead, pretty buttholish of them.

but 4 for the food :)

Sushi muy muy bueno pero demasiado tiempo de espera y muy caro comparado con lo barato que se puede encontrar el sushi aquí en Berlin.

Ma grande déception du jour. Je suis allé dans le restaurant de Kreuzberg. L’intérieur est plutôt sympa, le coin avec les bancs très confortable. L’ambiance ou la rapidité je né peux rien en dire puisque j’y étais en dehors des heures normales de repas (15h30) et seul client.
Le prix sont plutôt élevés par rapport à ce que l’on peut trouver à Berlin et surtout les sushis né sont pas particulièrement bons. Ça reste très très loin d’un sushi industriel, et je n’ai rien a redire sur la fraîcheur du produit, mais au final j’ai payé 6,40EUR pour 12 pièces bien présentées, mais pas exceptionnelles. L’algue autour était vraiment dure, obligeant à manger chaque sushi d’un coup
Si on n’est vraiment pas regardant côté budget, on peut se laisser tenter par les sushis aux feuilles d’algues colorées (bleu, orange, jaune, …).
Je n’ai pas essayé le Thai Burger ou autre nourriture chaude.

an abomination. even the soy sauce is bad (that’s not a joke). i’ve been here 3 times (i live right next door) and i fail to understand how this place has been successful enough to open more than one location. high prices for bad food. papa no is a typical berlin sushi place in that its owners are thai, not japanese. i tried the thai cuisine instead, but that was bad too. move right along when you see one, your wallet and stomach will thank you later.
