Novum Hotel Franke am Kurfürstendamm

Situated on a quiet backstreet to Kurfürstendamm, in a residential area, this hotel does not impress from the outside and when you step inside there is quite a bit of DDR-​feeling in the reception and corridors. But the room was really lovely and comfortable — even if I do prefer wooden floors to carpets — with great beds and a fresh shower/​toilet. I also really enjoyed the wall décor which was an old b/​w photo blow up of Berlin at the turn of the 20^th century. Not the nicest of views, our room overlooked the rather small car parking (I have no idea they would accomodate a full hotel with guests and their cars…) and a courtyard with surrounding apartment buildings, but it was peaceful.
Breakfast is not included in the price, but within a short walking distance you have for example Weichbrodt’s which serve a great breakfast.
Overall great value for money for an inner city hotel I’d say, central, easy access to lots of things, clean and good beds. Plus wi-​fi of course. That’s really all you need from a hotel as far as I’m concerned.
